I cant open my finder. It keeps on restarting
I'm using a Macbook white with Mac OS X 10.5.8. now I desperately need a solution on how to get my finder working back fine again. I cant open it and that means, i cant open a single file on my macbook. plus, my desktop is clear. please help me on this
Test to see if any of the issues you mention are still occurring.
If not, try restarting the computer to see if they come back. It is possible that the directory check fixed your problems.
If they are still occurring in safe mode, then we probably need to reinstall the operating system.
If they go away in safe mode but come back after restart, we'll need to troubleshoot your startup items.

Cant open anything in dock keeps crashing
I recently installed iLife '09 on my G4 Mac Mini
but when asked to restart it started to log out and everything on the screen disappears as usual and just the wallpaper was visible but then the message "Log Off timed Out" appeared so with no status bar or dock on screen i just held the power button
when the mac mini turned back on the desktop kept refreshing
System prefs wont open i just get the option to send a report or relaunch i cant open the status bar when i click it the Spining wheel appears and every thing refreshes
i cant even open finder
somehow i can open firefox and iPhoto please help cause i havn't got a time machine back up and don't wanna have to do a complete restoreAFAICT, your only option is to do an Archive & Install installation, saving user and network settings. The OS is hosed because something in iLife mucked things up. Rule one of *best practices* when installing new software or updating old is to *+ensure you have a restorable backup of your current installation+*. That, you violated.

Have a Mac OS X that had adobe reader installed on it but had to try and print a document but it kept telling me to download adobe reader update now I can't open PDF's and message that comes up says I need to accept end user license agreement. Where do I do this or how do I sort this out URGENTLY PDF's needed for my business
You don't need to delete anything, just launch it. Can you explain how you launched it, and what happened? It turns out that a lot of people misunderstand the word launch, so we need to ask.

i cant open my iphoto i keep getting an error saying your photo library is either in use by another application or has become ubreadable
reboot your Mac
If that does not do it then Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

When I try to open the iphoto it keeps on asking for the software update, but when I click on the software update it says that all the software in the computer are up to date. I still cant open the iphoto, what should I do?
How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

I am using I Photo 9.2.3 with OS 10.6.8 When I upgraded to current I photo some of my Iphoto books i put together disappeared. Cant find them anywhere, including in the time machine...I photo cant open older files...How can a find the book entitled "Mom" ? Does Apple keep ordered books on file?
Apple keeps books for a short time (used to be 40 days. I've not seen a recent time frame)
What version did you have?
Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

I cant open my itunes. it said i needed to download the 10.5.2 version to be able to upload the songs to my new ipod (touch) and when i went to do that my itunes wont open at all. me and my mom tried everything. i even went on my brothers account to get at least some songs and his did the same thing even though i didnt download it to the newest version. after i downloaded the lastest version and tried to open my itunes it said it was missing something so i went and downloaded it again. i know that was probably bad to do but i didnt know what else to do. even though i went and did that it keeps saying that im missing something. i dont know what to do to get my itunes to work again and if ill have to redownload all my songs and videos again.
Pleas help.
Thanks much,
SammiiPlug your iPod into your computer, it will begin to sync. Now check to see if the playlists have been added.
If not, go to the songs tab under your iPod when it is connected to iTunes, Unless you have checked "Sync all songs (or something to those words)" you should have an option on what you can put on your iPod. Make sure to check the playlists that you want on your iPod. -
Ok so I cant open my Itunes due to Windows Error 2 and the message says to uninstall and re-install Itunes but I'm pretty sure that would wipe the library right? Is there any way to fix the problem and keep my library?
Hi neffn!
I have an article for you that can help you go through that process of uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. If you have Windows 7, you will want to see this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
and if you are using Windows XP, you will want to reference this article:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
Note that, as it says in those articles:
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, see iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

TS1389 i cant open my itunes account it keeps giving me an error
I keep getting an error message stating reinstall or something is missing and cant open it up????
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
