I cant reinstall os x lion 10.7 on my macbook air 2012, it shows negative number on progress bar! pls help thanks

Hey all,
after deleting picture and videos on may macbook air using  IPHOTO i restarted my macbook air and after i open it only shows gray screen and apple logo!
tried the following
-Disconnect any devices connected to the computer
-Reset PRAM
-Reset the SMC (power manager).
-also tried apple hardware test
Went into recovery mode – tried to reinstall the Operating software – Connects to the internet – downloads and tries to install the software.
Things look like they work – but it seems to be stuck in some kind of loop.
I get the below message when I look at the log.
localhost Install Mac OS X Lion[347]: Chunklist is production signed
progres bar shows
-2,147,483,648 hour and ## minutes remaining!

Showing time in negetive number is common but not normal.
Hang in there.

  • Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor  1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8

    Hi
Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor  1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8

Are you referring to mirroring or you just unable to set up homesharing.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

  • Reinstalling mountain liom on macbook air 2012 takes much time?

Is This normal? Im currently reinstalling os on my secondhand macbook air 2012. It will took almost 2 days. Will this be just fine? Letting the macbook turned on for 2 days? Does this wont overheat the macbook? Or damage its parts?
Or this wont really take 44 hrs. Im also using the wifi connection, my normal download rate is 80-120 kbs/secs in when downloading in safari.
Or what if ill cancel this and connect to another network connection but im also worrying if download stops.

You need to be able to download just over 4 GB. If your connection speed is only 80-120 Kbps, that's quite slow and it will take a long time. Of course, it also may not take quite as long as it's predicting... Early time estimates in things like that can be quite inaccurate.
You should be able to safely cancel and try on a faster network, or you could just leave it running. The latter will not cause the machine to overheat unless the machine has a hardware problem already.

Follow mende1's link to the up to date page and select the link for Macs bought on or after July 26.  Just be forwarned that the response time after submitting the form is about 3-4 days right now.  You'll get two emails.  One will contain an encrypted PDF containing your ML code and the other will contain the key to unlock it.

  • I'm running Lion on a Late 2008 MacBook Air.  With no other applications running, I can no longer Check for Software Updates.  It gets abut half way through the checking process and then freezes.  The MBA passes Disk Utility. Thoughts?

How long do you leave it?
Mine can sometimes sit for quite a while (maybe 10 minutes??) before it finally finishes.
You could look at the relevant logs via Console (Utilities folder) to see if Software Update is complaining about anything.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Downgrade Lion to snow leopard in macbook air late 2010?

Please, is there anyway to do this, lion its just too slow, and my battery drains faster in lion.
i am totally dissapointed of upgrading to lion, can someone help downgrading?
    Regards.

Sure there is an original USB stick. It came inserted in a white card with the rest of the documentation, neatly packaged in a black cover. On the card it is called Macbook Air Software Reinstall Drive and on the back of the card it is noted "This USB flash drive contains a backup copy of your Macbook Air software ... To reinstall MAC OS X ..." The stick is needed for MBAs because they don't have a DVD drive.
Erasing the disk: I meant erasing the internal SSD drive in my MBA.
iMac reinstall: I used the grey DVD that came with that machine (which does have a drive that will take it).
Apple Mail etc. I have a TimeMachine backup so I was eventually able to restore the mail AS IT WAS ON SEPT 1 when I installed Lion. However, it took many hours because the Library folder was "missing". I am a complete MAC novice so it took a while to figure it all out. My situation is that I have 2 drives in my iMac, an 250 Gb SSD and a 1 Tb normal drive. I had set up the User folder on the normal drive, but the OS on the SSD. When I upgraded to Lion this was kept, but the Library folder was hidden. After my fresh reinstall of SL on the SSD, I again moved my home folder to the normal drive, but Library still was not accessible. I tried unhiding it using "mv .Library Library" from Terminal, without success. I then renamed it to LibraryOld and copied its contents to a temp directory for easier access (you can reach this hidden folder starting from the home folder in Finder and going to Go, Go to Folder. I subsequently restored my last SL "Library" using Time Machine. That gave me my slightly old mail back. What a hassle and waste of time.
As to the MBA. Because I had messed it up so much, all I could do was reinstall Lion on it (from Apple Shop). That proved that the SSD drive was not harmed in any way. I then held the alt key when booting and tried the TimeMachine backup on the NAS (which is only reachable as part of this restore operation, not from within Lion). This worked, but I haven't played around with it yet to see if everything is back to normal.

  • Lion Recovery partition on 2011 MacBook Airs

I did a post for my blog yesterday concerning the use of the Lion recovery partition in solving the problem of turning on Find My Mac. I've had a very positive response from readers, most reporting success. But one has raised a question I cannot answer.
    Here is the original article
    http://www.macfilos.com/home/2011/10/16/icloud-cannot-turn-on-find-my-mac-recove ry-system-update-req.html
My reader maintains that the Lion recovery partition is not active on her 2011 MacBook Air. She has the latest OS X build and has also installed the Lion Recovery update. I can't really believe this, but I only have a 2010 Air to play with. Can someone confirm or deny?
The problem I (and many others) had was that the recovery update was not being recognised, the reason being a corrupt volume. After repairing the volume using the recovery partition it was then possible to reinstall the recovery update and subsequently turn on Find My Mac. It could be that my reader has a more intransigent version with the same cause that needs additional work.
    Michael

    If she enters in Terminal
         diskutil list
if there is a Recovery Partition, she'll see:
         Apple_Boot Recovery HD             650.0 MB   disk0s3
    as the last partition.

  • Is there any way for downloading LION without recovery tool? macbook air (mid 2011) ?

I recently bought a macbook air(mid 2011) and I am using ADSL internet services which needs couple of hours to complete downloading of LION. but when I come back to see what happened few hours after download started, I found myself in Lion Recovery startiting page !
seems that I am in a endless loop !!
In addition, Its not possible to download it from app store, since it shows that the application has beed installed already. is there any suggestion ?
I guess I should first download it using speed download and then install it !

Have you tried holding the Option key down and then clicking on "Purchases" in the App Store interface? If this works, then you'll see "Install" instead of "Installed" against Lion. Download Lion then -- it will go to your Applications folder -- and do not give your password for installation to execute. You should then have the full Lion installation package in your Applications folder. With "Show Package Contents", in "Shared Support" find InstallESD.dmg. If you burn that to a blank DVD you'll have a Lion Install disc. But since you have a MacBook Air, you could use a (not less than 8 GB capacity) pen drive to store the installation without having to do the full download every time.

  • Mountain Lion Does not install on MacBook Air 2010

Installing stopped on: (remaining time 17 mins). I have waited 1hr, but nothing happens.
After reboot, this situation repeated 3 times!
Please, help! What I should do to restore my computer?
    Thanks.

Restart your Mac and immediately press the Command and R keys. Your Mac should start from the Lion recovery partition.
Open Disk Utility and click your OS X Lion volume, typically named "Macintosh HD". Note: If FileVault 2 is enabled, you will need to click "Unlock" on the toolbar, and then enter your admin password to unlock the drive.
Click the "Repair Disk" button and let Disk Utility complete a repair of the drive.
After this, restart. If the same issue is happening, boot with command R again and reinstall the OS from there.

  • I can't install Lion on my macbook Air 'cause i have any cluster damaged.. Any help ?

I've tried to install lion on my MBA but i can't select the internal Hdd cause there are any cluster damaged and the Os can't select that drive. How can I do to solve this problem ?

You need to boot from your install disk or thumb drive (turn the computer on while holding down the "C" key). It will look like you are reinstalling the operating system. Look at the menu bar, you will see Utilities. Can't remember the exact menu path, but you are looking for Disk Repair or Repair Disk. Select your bad drive and chances are pretty good the software will repair the drive. Then reboot normally and your install will likely work. If not, it's off to the Genius Bar.

  • My exchange email doesn't work on my macbook air 2012 (lion) but it works in all other macs

    Computer:
    Version 10.7.5
    Outlook 2010:
    Version 14.2.5 (121010)
I tried to set up an exchange account on this machine (I tested the settings in 3 other mac computers and the exchange account worked in all 3 machines) and it doesn't sync anything.
I installed all the updates for laptop and for outlook
    I reinstalled office 2010
    I deleted all keychain entries
I was unable to get it to work.
Is there any extra steps I should consider?

In mail, click window then connection doctor to see if it gives you any additional information.
Sometimes, you can get that message if your name under the incoming mail server isn't fully qualified. For example, for at&t, they require the form "[email protected]" while some other mail services are OK with just "userid".

  • Macbook air (2012) with Lion shuts down when waking up from sleep mode

Looking for solutions to this problem, which occurs about 30-40% of the time after computer wakes up from sleep.  Doesn't seem to be related to the length of time that computer sleep or whether I put it to sleep manually or it does so automatically.  I've read in other forums that upgrading to Mountain Lion does not solve the problem.

You might try resetting the SMC:
