I cant set a home screen background

I went to photos, saved photos, picked the one i want, then hit set. But instead of having it ask me for the lock or welcome screen it automaticly goes to lock, I have the latest ipod system on the 3rd gen.

Only the third generation and fourth generation iPod Touches support homescreen wallpapers. Otherwise, you can only set a lock screen wallpaper.
The option will be in Settings > Wallpaper. If your iPod does not let you pick a homescreen wallpaper, then you know what generation you are.

The steps below detail how to go about setting a wallpaper on your iPhone.
Wallpaper
You can set a photo as wallpaper for the Lock screen or for the Home screen.
Set a photo as wallpaper:
1 Choose any photo and tap , then tap Use As Wallpaper.
2 Drag the photo to position it and pinch to zoom in or out, until it looks the way
you want.
3 Tap Set, then choose whether you want to use the photo as wallpaper for your Lock
Screen, Home screen, or both.
You can also choose from several wallpaper pictures included with iPhone by choosing
Settings > Wallpaper from the Home screen. See “Adding Wallpaper” on page 36.

Can't set a home screen background

i have just updated my ipod touch, i bought it last week as far as i know it's the newest one available (8GB). the Utilities folder is working & i have noticed a few other differences but when i go to apply a wallpaper it doesn't ask me to move or scale or set as a back ground for the lock screen or the home screen it just sets the picture. i did not have any of the other problems some people are experiencing but i don't use my ipod for much besides listening to music. anyone know what to do?

Near the bottom of the page it says:
"Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009)."
So I guess that excludes the 8GB version as you have.

Can't change home screen background

I have downloaded and installed iOS 4 software and have an iPhone 3G. When I try to select a picture to save as wallpaper it doesn't give the option to set it as my home screen background. Is this feature not available for iPhone 3G? If it is available how do you get it to work?

I have the same iPhone 3G (the original iPhone) with the new 4.0 Software.
You should be able to save your own picture as iPhone Wallpaper.
Go to your iPhone Photos, iPhone Pictures. Tap the picture you wanted. On the bottom left of your iPhone screen, tap the boxed arrow icon. tap "Use as Wallpaper".
2nd way to set iPhone wallpaper: First make sure the Picture is in your Photos on your iPhone. Then go to your Settings app, Wallpaper, iPhone pictures. Then you should see all your pictures that are saved on your iPhone 3G. Tap on the picture you want as your Wallpaper. Tap Set.

Why can't iPod touch 2G use home screen background wallpaper?

It really didn't make any sense. Everyone wants to update their iPod touch to iOS 4 just because they want to use Multitasking and home screen wallpaper. But Apple just don't let all the iPod touch 2G users use these features. I know that the touch 2G hardware is not powerful enough for the multitasking ability and it's reasonable, but just why can't we just replace the home screen background by a picture?

Reports have quoted that Steve Jobs said that icon performance was degraded too badly with wallpaper for Apple to feel comfortable including that feature.

I use iTunes to arrange icons in my Iphone Screen, i arranged it with 4 screens , ist blank, 2nd to 4th with some apps icon. When i sync , the blank home screen is occupied by 2nd and 3rd by 4th and 4th is set as 3rd. So how can i set by Home screen blank with only default Iphone apps at bottom.

I would assume that the home screen image and the lock screen image would be changed 100% the same way all other iphones change them in the settings

Separate wallpaper and home screen background?

I was wondering if it is possible to have the lockscreen background and the home screen wallpaper set as separate images, or if it is possible to switch them separately? I currently have 2 separate images from when I switched my phone from my 3G, but I want to change the lockscreen wallpaper while keeping the bubble background on my home screen.

Hi,
Find an image you want to use then tap the icon in the lower left of the window. This brings up the options. Chose wallpaper then choose lock screen.

Lock and Home screen backgrounds

Just updated to iphone OS 401. In previous 3.x, the lock screen was one image, the home screen was just black background. Is there a way to set that again?

Thanks, I already found that. I was just trying to get the background back to black only behind the apps while leaving the lock screen the same image as before. There is lots to choose from, just not a way to select nothing (in hopes that it would return to black).

Could you please specify your problem? Are you trying to get to the "awesome screen" (firefox home on android) If so, you just close your current tab or open a new tab. To do this, tap the top left of your screen in Firefox. This is to the left of the back button. Now you either slide down a tab to close it, or tap the "+" sign at the top left while at your tab area. And also, there is no exact home button while in Firefox for android, only in desktop Firefox (at least there used to be). Hope this helps in some way!

Setting Landscape Home Screen Wallpaper Without Zooming In

I have an iPhone 4s IOS 7.1.1. Is there a way to put a landscape/horizontal photo (from my camera roll) as my home screen wallpaper without it zooming in all the way and filling the home screen? I want it to still remain landscape (so the whole photo is visible).

I know on Zedge Mortb when i'm previewing Wallpapers they Will pull in & out if i press on the Screen but once i set them as a Permanent picture they no longer do that. Interesting in what the OP has and i have ever tried a Launcher but they do have a Bunch a Settings that you can Change.. b

Ipod Touch 8GB Model a1213. Cant get to HOME screen?

My friend bought new in '08 a iPod Touch 8GB- Model a1213. Her son had always loade music but, he pasted away so, she was tried herself. Now her screen, when powered up, shows a Musical Note over a Disk, under that, shows the Plug that connects to bottom of iPod Touch. We cant get to home or any other screen. Thanks!

It sounds like the iPod is in Recovery Mode. You'll need to connect the iPod Touch to her iTunes library and restore it.

Nokia 6700 crash when setting up 'Home Screen'

Okay,
I have already had my 'Home Screen' menu and 'Go-To' menu setup and working fine for over 6 months now with no problems.
NOW, when I want to add an Application to either of those menus (I will use the Go To menu for this example)
- I will click the 'Go To' button on the left of the 'homescreen'.
- Click Options
- Click Select Options
- If I click on the Applications folder (for me to select WHICH app to add to the shortcut menu, it will bring up a blank screen which I cannot exit from.
- The only way out is to reeboot the phone.
I'm starting to get frustrated with this now as it's been a good phone up to now (apart from my previous forum posts)

Bought the 6700 on recommendation from the gy in Carphone warehouse (I know I should have known better...) I had the same problem, took it back to Carphone warehouse who sent it back to Nokia. Nokia couldn't fix it, I lost all my data and they sent me a new phone, That one is now freezing after only 3 weeks so I have to go back yet again to try and change to another brand as I don't have time for this. Nokia, you have lost all my goodwill and I won't be buying one of their phones again.
