  • Can't sign in to Mac app store with known-good ID

I can't sign into the Mac app store from my mini. Everything else works fine (iTunes store, icloud.com) and I can log in to the Mac app store (and everything else too) on my Air. So, it's just the Mac app store and just from my Mac mini.
I rebooted. I deleted the "storeagent" preferences file. I reset the password (to the same one). Still won't work. It just says "unknown error."

just the Mac app store and just from my Mac mini.
Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store.
Open a Finder window. From the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac then try the App Store.

  • When I try to sign on to Mac App Store I get the message "Your device or computer cannot be verified" Yet I can sign on in iTunes no problem.  I've tried all the suggestions from App Support but no luck.

When I try to sign on to Mac App Store I get the message "Your device or computer cannot be verified" Yet I can sign on in iTunes no problem.  I've tried all the suggestions from App Support but no luck. What am I doing wrong?

What troubleshooting techniques have you tried? Have you restarted the app? Have you restarted your computer?
One idea is to Trash this file; Mac HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist and restart.

  • Unknown error when signing in to mac app store

i can enter the mac app store successfully, but when i sign in with my apple id and click sign in, it says "an unknown error has occurred" i have looked through everything i can but i can't find a solution that works. i have tried restarting my computer, and it didn't work any help would be great.

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
Click the gold padlock icon to make changes. You may be prompted for your admin password.
Select:  Mac App Store and idendified developers
Try signing in to the App Store.
Make sure you are using the correct Apple ID and password.

  • I can't sign into the Mac App Store any more. Can anyone help?

When I click on Sign In nothing happens.  App Stores on my other devices are working fine.
This is the first time I've used the discussion forums so I hope I am going about this in the right way.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, JohnPaul2!
Try restarting the App Store. Just quit it and open it back up again and try it again. Then try purchasing a free app and sign in there.
Of course, you can also try the well-known "restart your computer" trick. Worked for me a month ago when this happened to me.

  • Problems signing into the Mac App Store?

The App Store shows I have 2 updates to software that I recently purchased (Final Cut Pro and Motion).  When I click on the updates I am prompted to sign in... when I enter my login information I keep getting the error message - "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (13)"
    Any suggestions?

If you have FruitMenu installed, here is a workaround: First, put your Apple ID into the clipboard (by typing it into any text field and using the Copy command). Second, in the "Enter password" window, triple-click on the Apple ID field, which should open a menu that allows you to Paste in your Apple ID from the clipboard. Now, put your Password into the clipboard, triple-click on the Password field and Paste your Password into the field. You should then be able to Sign In.

  • Never Given Option To Sign In To Mac App Store

MBP i7, OS X 10.6.6 (obviously), never restored.
App Store will launch, I can browse, I can goto CREATE ACCOUNT, but clicking sign in from the menus and from the "purchases" tab does nothing (e.g. I click but not even an error message, nothing outputted to console, even).
Anyone else having issues? Have repaired permissions, rebooted, etc, etc. Feels like I'm using Windows .

    Sure -
I didn't feel comfortable throwing instructions, if mis typed/done improperly may trash system files (like an improperly positioned asterisk, etc on some below commands could delete more than you should, etc, etc), so I figured it would self-select the people who could/should figure out from the high-level hints what to do from those that would probably be best NOT doing this.
You'd have to try REALLY hard or be incredibly unlucky to have something bad happen out of these sequence of commands, but hey, I'm continually amazed by Murphy's Law....
But who am I to decide who should and shouldn't be messing with their system, so at your own risk (e.g. I will be happy to help if this doesn't work/breaks something, but only have so much time to dedicate and may randomly disappear back to my work at any moment for any, even indefinite, periods of time)...so with that warning, it's actually pretty straightforward and innocent.
    1. Download the official installer (do not use software update) - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1343
    2. Download UnPkg - http://github.com/downloads/timdoug/unpkg/unpkg-4.5.zip
    3. Double click both files you've downloaded
    4. Launch UnPkg
    5. Drag the Installer on the Installer Disk Image that is now mounted onto the UnPkg window that says "drag files here" (something like that).
    6. It will extract the contents of the update to your disk so you can pull the framework out of there manually and force copy it, apparently the bug is that Apple's installer may not copy it in some circumstances
    7. Open a Finder window, goto Applications, goto the Utilities folder, and start Terminal
    8. Type and press enter at the end (without the quotes) sudo rm -fr /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CommerceKit*
    9. Enter your login password when prompted
    10. type and press enter at the end (without the quotes) sudo cp -R ~/Desktop/MacOSXUpd10.6.6/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CommerceKit.framewor k /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
    11. Quit App Store (it if is still open)
    12. Open App Store, you should be able to login now.

  • Changed apple ID password, but cant sign in to apple app store or facetimme

I couldn't access to apple ID so I changed the password follwing steps to change apple ID password. Then I couldnt at least sign in to apple store, Facetime, Icoloud. What should I do?

This sounds similar to a problem I had, though I may be wrong. First sign out of everything, the app store and icloud both have there own way of signing out so make sure to do them both.  To sign out of app store go to featured tab then scroll to the bottom and click apple ID, for icloud you sign out under settings. When signing out of iclould you will need to use your old password, so you may need to go back online to the apple website and change your id and password to what it was before.  Once you've signed out of everything go apple website and change you ID and password to what you want it to be. Then go and sign back into everything.  I hope this helps. It might not be the best way but it worked for me.

  • Mac app store doesn't sign in to my apple id

    hi.
my mac app store keeps erroring:
"your device or computer could not be verified. please contact support for assistance."
    what should i do?

Yeah, same problem here. Since the last week i'm not able to sign into the mac app store but my account works on icloud.com and my mail app with icloud mail and so on.
    What happened?

  • I can't sign in to my app store and my language is Chinese how can I change it to English?

Cant sign in to my app store and how can I change my app language

You can log out of the account on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then tap 'sign out' on the popup - you can then sign in with your account/
If you synced any of your mum's apps to the iPad from your her computer then they will be tied to her account, so only her account will be able to download updates to her apps

  • Why can't I sign in to the App Store?

When I got Snow Leopard, I immediately tried to boot up the Mac App store to download Lion, but when I open the App Store and attempt to sign in, quite literally nothing happens.  Suggestions?

    Hi...
If you don't see the sign in sheet > Mac App Store: Sign in sheet does not appear, or does not accept typed text
And disable any security software such as anti virus before trying to access the App Store.
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available spare

  • Mac App Store not showing Updates or Purchases

After upgrading my Mac OS to Yosemite, my App Store isn't showing anything under the "Updates" tab (It did some automatic updates in the background, so the number of pending updates dropped from 13 to 2).
Although I have already signed in to Mac App Store, it says:"You must sign in to view your purchases" under the "Purchases" tab. "Sign in" is a clickable link but when I click it nothing happens.

I'm having the exact same problem.
I can sign in via the menu bar-store-sign in, but it doesn't change anything.
In the bottom right corner of the updates page there's a US flag icon showing, indicating I'm in the wrong store. Unable to change to Norwegian.
I am also unable to go into iCloud in system preferences:

  • Mac App Store and spinning ball of death!

I have to Force quit the Mac App Store application.
I can sign in on Mac App Store, browse the applications but unable to buy or download anything.
All is fine using iTunes to buy an application or download a free app.

    Thank you for your help

I finally got it to work.
    My problem was Spotlight !!!!!!!!
I disabled a while ago Spotlight upon an advice that when you use Logic Pro on a professional basis like I do, it was better to turn off Spotlight. To do so I used Spotless.
I turn it back on and gone was my problem not being able to download anything from Mac App Store.
    Hope this work for others.

  • Clean install & Mac App Store (Can't reinstall Apps)

    Hello Everyone,
I just did a clean instal of OS X Lion and after signing into the Mac App Store, it is telling me that programs are already installed (which they are not). If I try to update or anything it tellls me these are associated with another account.
"To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
How do I get around this?
    Regards,
    CLM

Just to confirm, you can boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
When you select to reinstall OS X, what happens?
    Fix for missing MAS
It's possible #1 will do the trick, but you might need to do the additional steps in Keychain access.
    1.  Delete the files /var/db/crls/crlcache.db and /var/db/crls/ocspcache.db. These can be found using Finder’s Go >; Go To Folder menu (Cmd + Shift + G). This resets the cache of accepted certificates in the system. It doesn’t remove them, it just forces the system to rebuild the caches upon restart.
    2.  Open Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access). Select Certificates in the Category picker on the left side. In the search bar, type in the word Class. Look through that list, and find any certificates that have a blue + symbol over their icon. These are the ones you need to modify.
Select one that has a blue +, and hit Command + I. Click the disclosure triangle beside the “Trust” list to show the list of permissions. Now, what we need to do is to set this certificate to use the system defaults. However, for some reason, when you select it, it doesn’t save. So what you need to do is this. Under “Trust”, where it says “Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)”, change the dropdown menu to say “No Value Specified”. Then, close the window. It will ask for your administrator permissions. Then, open the info pane for that certificate again. Under “Trust” again, now set the dropdown that says “When using this certificate:” to say “Use System Defaults”. You can then close out of the info pane, and enter your password again. Do this for any of the certificates that have a blue + on their icon. There should only be one or two at most.
(Note: I had to toggle the settings before it would stick)
    Restart your system.
