I cant sign into facetime or imessage on my new mac book pro
every time i try to sign into imessage or facetime on my new mac book pro it comes up with an error message telling me to check my network connection does anyone know how to fix this?

Until april, they were working flawlessly, but has stopped signing in...
Unlike other people, it doesn't give me any error while trying to sign in, but nothing happens. I put my email and password and click Sign in but a loading circle turns for a sec and nothing happens. I tried every reset and just 10 minutes ago I chose erased all the media and settings but still no success. Is it a widespread problem?Sorry to say but yes you are not alone.

1) make sure you have internet
2) make sure your time settings is not too far adrift (emerald sequoia free app will tell you) and try and adjust to get close to real time.
3) call or go online to apple support and go up the chain - explain that it is an AppleID validation problem (if you don't have AppleCare then that should wave the cost) - get the problem referred to engineering
4) keep trying (daily) to get in
5) don't expect Apple to get back to you to say it's fixed
6) if it persists then join the discussion in the main thread (47000 views must indicate something is up!)

Can not sign into FaceTime or iMessage on ipad air
For some reason I can not sign into FaceTime or iMessage using my Apple ID anymore. They both used to work, but they just stopped.. Now when I try to sign back in I get a message than an error occurred during sign in. I use two different Apple id's, one just for iCloud and one for everything else.

I had an 8GB 1st gen iPod in it's original box in storage and just took it out to hook it up. Charged it overnight, plugged it into new Mac Book Pro and it was recognized as being an iPod in recovery but other identifying information was all indicated as "n/a" (so, unknown OS, etc). Error code 1604 came up so I downloaded iTunes on the Mac Book and it is currently showing version 10. But now when I try to restore the iPod, error code 1611 comes up and the troubleshooting doesn't tell me what else to try. The USB connector that came with the iPod was also never used before - brand new also from the box so that should be fine. I also tried a different USB port on the Mac Book. Any ideas?

I have recently transferred data from my old PC to my new Mac Book Pro (Mavericks OS). Each transfer creates a new User account (titled 'Owner', 'Owner 1', etc). I want to merge / consolidate the files from these newly created User accounts into my main user account. Is there a tutorial for this process, or any tips? Anyone?
Four transfers. After the initial attempt with Migration Assistant failed (after hours and hours of wifi transfer) I did "mini-transfers" of more manageable, smaller bits of files -- my music in one, photos in another, etc. Since posting my question in this forum, i contacted Apple support, chatted with Angela, and she suggested getting an ethernet-USB adapter for my mac, connecting my external drive with ethernet and transferring files manually -- that is, NOT using the Migration Assistant at all. being a windows user I too looked for a book as I had pretty much all large OS changes like XP to w7Pro.... so barnes and noble has what I found to be an excellent book after looking through many at bookstore...
"OS X Mavericks The Missing Manual" which covers OS X 10.9.1 first edition was dec 2013 so recent book 850 plus pages of info and pictures very easy read and the views make it simple to follow.
Me I like technical info but this book is for everyone with sections on just about every topic the OS has.
I do believe I paid like $35 (US) but well worth it as I hadn't touched an Apple since 1988 with truly floppy discs we used to punch nothces in.
Author is a N. Y. Times writer who wrote many a "Missing Manual" as I can't remember the last time anything came with a manual. I had a $4600. windows machine built by Puget Systems and others over the years from Falcon Northwest.... none came with manuals other than similar to Apples quick info foldout.

I Have been trying to sign into both iMessage and FaceTime on all my apple devices. And it won't sign into either one of them. I know the password is correct because I am able to use iTunes and iCloud.
but its only with my Apple ID. I signed into FaceTime with my friends account and it worked perfectly fine.

Cannot sign in to Apple ID on new Mac Book Pro.
I bought a brand new 13inch Mac Book Pro last night. However, I am not able to sign in with my Apple ID and password. I have restarted the process various times, I have shut the computer down various times, I have loggen into my Apple account on my other devices to ensure that my password and ID are correct, I have also registered my new Mac Book under my apple account, and I am 100% my wifi password is correct. It's been about 12 hours, close to 20 attempts, and still I am unable to sign in. I keep getting the same message: "Counldn't sign in because of a server error. Try signing in again." Any thoughts?
