I cant update ipod to I0S5 from Itunes always saying that its timed out

I cant update ipod to I0S5 from Itunes always saying that its timed out, I have tried updating numerous times still no luck

Disabling the computer's security software during the download and update usually resolves that error.

    Hi lepyykko,
If I understand your question, you are trying to update your iPhone, but you are seeing an error message that iTunes for Windows is not installed, is that right?  The first step is to get iTunes successfully installed on your computer.  Then backup the iPhone before updating the iOS software.
Are you seeing any error messages when you try to install iTunes for Windows?

    Before you update
Back up your device to iCloud.
    Update your device wirelessly
The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Download and Install. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
Tap Install, or tap Later to install the update later. If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.

  • My iPod touch 3rd gen is not updating to the latest software, iTunes keeps saying that there was a problem connecting to the update server...

I don't think I ever registered my 3rd gen iPod. I was never able to update it past its original software because iTunes could never recognize it. Unfortunately, my wife had installed data on it (old & recently purchased) so I've been very hesitant to "Restore" it. I recently plugged it into my laptop & it prompted me to install the iOS 5.0.1 software, but after multiple attempts to do so iTunes keeps giving me the same error message "update  install failed. Connection to the update software server has timed out". How do I update the software without losing all my wife's data?

If you already have iOS5.0, Go to settings-general-software update, scroll to the bottom and hit download and install and this should update it without the computer. Then when you connect the iPod to iTunes, it should say 5.0.1. If this doesn't work, DON'T ERASE IT. Just bring it in to Apple. I had the same issue trying to update to 5.0.  and eventually I got it to work after waiting for a little while. Good luck!

  • I cannot update to ios 7. It always say that ios 6.1.5 is up to date. How can I fix it?

Wheen I try to update to ios7, my ipod alway says IOS 6.1.5 is up to date. what do I have to do to update it to IOS7???

You have a 4th generation iPod. This model can't run iOS 7 due to the hardware - it is too old.
If you want iOS 7, buy an 5th generation iPod.

  • Can`t update ipod with albums from itunes

I added about 10 cds to itunes but only three were automatically updated to ipod. The other cds are in the library and play. Any ideas on how to get the others to the ipod? Have loaded over a hundred albums so far but this is the first time to have this problem. I re-tried updating but to no avail.

    Please help!!
For some reason yesterday, whilst browsing on iTunes, a computer error message came up and closed the site automatically..
After that, the computer 'froze' on me, so I had no other option than to run System Restore, which, after 2 hours, got my system up and running again, although I had JUST remembered at that point, that ALL files etc would be completely deleted.
I opened up iTunes and looked at my Library, and to my horror, I also hadn't originally thought about backing them up, as I knew they were all 'safely' on my iPod.
I have just tried this morning to 'try' to upload tracks from the iPod onto iTunes. I tried this, BUT, it has completely deleted the tracks off there as well - all 985 of them!!
Does anybody know WHETHER I will be able to recover all these tracks, short of contacting iTunes themselves?
I feel so awkward about it!! Any sensible advice would be appreciated!!

  • HT1238 i tried to download ipod reset utility and it keeps saying that its meant for a 32 bit and not a 64 bit and therefore wont let me download the program, what do i do?

I need to download the ipod utility reset program but it keeps telling me that it is meant for windows 32 bit, i have a 64 bit. how do i reset my ipod shuffle?

In most cases, doing a Restore in iTunes does the job.  That Reset Utility was released, because in a very small percentage of cases, the standard Restore in iTunes did not do the job for 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffles.  NOTE:  Later shuffle models did not use this utility at all.
So, you shouldn't use that utility, unless doing a Restore in iTunes (from the iPod's Settings tab) did not work, OR the shuffle is seen by Windows, but not by iTunes (so you can't do a Restore).  Is this your situation?

  • Can't download purchases, iTunes wrongly says "network connection timed out"

Apple surely charged my account the $19.99 for my latest HD movie purchase, but I haven't been able to download it, or the 6 other files I have pending!
Connection works perfectly, I've restarted cpu several times, deactivated firewall, deleted & reinstalled iTunes, deleted tmp files, nothing works!! I've been at this for 3 days to no avail, Please HELP!!

    Hi, thanks for your reply...
I've tried that before and just tried it one more time before replying to you... nada! I was hoping it was just a glitch and it would fix itself, but after 3 days I'm just annoyed. Like I said, I've even deleted iTunes and reinstalled it, that did nothing either :/

I tryed to update to ios 6.0.1 on my iPod touch 4g but it always says that a error has occurred. Any suggestions.

If you are updating via Settings>General>Software update then connect to your computer and update via iTunes
Otherwise what is the full wording of the error message?

  • HT201210 my ipod is disabled and when i connect it to itunes it says that i have to enter my password but i cant because there is no swipe bar so what do i do to fix this

my ipod is disabled and when i connect it to itunes it says that i have to enter my password but i cant because there is no swipe bar so what do i do to fix this?

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
