I cant view my site in safari... hmmmmm

i forwarded my own domain to mask the url for my mac.web.com.yadda yadda yadda.
i forwarded the frame to web.mac.com/myusername
it took hours and it is finally working though my domain co said they didnt think it would. anyways.. it loads great on firefox but i cant view it on safari.
i type in the web address and the screen is blank. if i click on the screen my site appears. and the same for each page.. you click and it goes blank. and then you click on the blank screen and up pops the site.
and it doesnt work in internet explorer. images have x's and just aren't there.
i have emptied the cache, quite safari. checked the url forwarding.. it seems odd that it works in firefox but not safari.
any help?
anyone?

jodyfinver.com
frame redirect from web.mac.com/writecause
also tried web.mac.com/writecause/iweb
and web.mac.com/writecause/iweb/jodyfinver
bought domain with 1and1 and can't transfer to godaddy for a month. 1and1 says they can't frame redidrect with a backslash. it's odd it works on firefox. you need to click a blank page in safari and in ie for mac the words at the bottom om the home page come in broken, as do images throughout.
i am on phone with apple and the guy saw the page then it disappeared. he had me reset my safari which made me lose my igoogle home page preferences and didn't resolve the problem.
then he said it looks like you can't do what you are looking to do. I said yes you can. In fact Apple tells people they can do this when they are selling the software. He is researching it.

  • PC users cant view my site....

I am VERY new to iweb. I just finished my first site and published it. I can see it perfectly on my computer. When I told my family and friends (pc users) to check it out they said all they see is the godadddy.com site saying a site is being made... How do I fix this? Or does it have nothing to do with them being on a PC?? Help! Thanks!

Check with GoDaddy tech support to see if your domain name has been forwarded correctly to your site.
PC users should reach your site if all is well.

  • White areas in safari when viewing iweb site I created

    Ok Here is my problem!
I have created a website on iweb 08 which includes an autostart quicktime movie as an intro. When I view the site in Safari 3.2.1 strange white areas appear in the browser window. They disappear if 1 click outside of the browser. In Firefox no areas appear! Although as typical with iweb it seems, the type seems to get moved around a bund (less so in Safari, but a little nontheless.) so what am I doing wrong? Do i need to tweak a setting in iweb. And how do i get the typeset from changing spacing, although I can live with the appearance at it is, having t exactly how it looks in iweb would be perfect?
Go to www.nigelreblochon.com to see the problem.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks
    Olitrific

I think it might be too good. It made me very hungry after just the first two pages. I line the simplicity of the site. That's makes it much more compatible with the dark side, i.e. Internet Explorer.
I don't know enough about flash to help you on that but Flash probably would load faster than QT. I know Roddy McKay is knowledgeable using flash for music so he might be able to help with flash video. The Quicktime expert hereabouts is QuicktimeKirk. Do a search of this forum for posts by either of those users and "flash" and you should get some useful information.

  • Having some problems with JAVA sites with safari, opera and firefox

I work with some online java application for my work. Since I updated to Leopard, I cant access the site with safari, I loose some options with Opera and Firefox...
Is it the JAVA that is not up to date with leopard?
    Any updates soon?
    Help!!!

I have experienced memory leaks with the jvm on Leopard. Seem they took a huge step backwards instead of forward.
It should be obvious by now that they didn't include 1.6 as many publications alluded to (Still haven't seen any explicit word from Apple where they officially said "Yes, Leopard WILL have JVM 1.6 at time of launch".)
Don't know if the url below will get filtered out, but many other (non-Apple controlled) forums have been saying nasty things about Apple not explaining themselves for this major snafu.

  • Help! people cant view site

Hi, I made a site using iWeb a couple months ago and everything was fine. Last week I updated the site and announced it to a bunch of friends and about 80% could not get in or view the site. Most are on a pc, but some still were able to view it ok even on a pc. I made sure to let everyone know to capatilize the "W" in iWeb, and even told them to just copy and past the address or use our link. The email was sent using aol, not sure if that makes a difference. Please help, we use the site to update baby and family pics and now most of our friends cant view it. The site is web.mac.com/baariandolivia. username is pauls and password is macomb, no caps in either. Thanks for any help

I was able to view it after entering user/password.
You mentioned you emphasized "W" for iWeb, maybe it's just the url you sent.
I suggest you send them the exact url you noted here and just for the sake of it include the http://xxxxxxx
Now I know there may be some technicality with sending urls in some instances to PC's but if the simply copy paste they should be fine.
While I'm at it, you may want to suggest all your PC friend download firefox and use that instead of IE.

  • Cant view site on pc

I've made a fairly simple site in IWeb and published it to .Mac, i can view my site fine using safari on my mac yet when i use firefox or Internet Explorer on any of my PC's i just get an error message saying that that homepage doesn't exist, is IWeb not compatible with other browsers? or is there an option to allow my PC's to load the page?

"I had this same problem with the PC at my workplace. The PCs only had QT6.5 installed and there was no way for me to update to QT7.
The problem was with the encoding of the movie using H.264 which QT6.5 cannot decode. Your best bet for compatibility is probably to encode video with MP4 instead of H.264. The downside is that MPEG-4 video encoding isn't as clear quality and the resulting file is larger as well."
I completely understand. Here's the thing, though. The requirements for getting a plain old MP4 video podcast to play on an iPod are kind of tricky to navigate. It is much easier to use the Export for iPod function, which puts out an .m4v file, and makes heavy use of the H.264 codec. This is why you are likely to run into more and more PC compatability issues, unfortunate as that is.
Obviously, if all I was interested in was having people come to me to get the movie (vs having it delivered via subscription), it would be a whole other matter. I would use the most universal format available, such as the vanilla MP4, and if someone wanted to play it on an iPod, they could convert it themselves. I would, if it were practical, have two versions up, one vanilla MP4, and one .m4v, but time (to encode and upload two files), and space (server space, bandwidth issues) are both issues for me, so I choose to go with the one that is easiest for me (at least for now).
I know an individual license of QT 7 Pro is pretty reasonable, considering all the advanced encoding options (especially compared to Windows Media), but I assume your company would license it across multiple machines. Is that very expensive, do you know?
    Good luck,
    Eric

  • Is any way of viewing IE only sites in Safari?

    Hi guys
Will admit that I have had very little experience of Macs - do you know if there is any way of viewing IE only sites in Safari?
Is there a plugin that I can download? If so, can you advise the link please.
    TIA

"do you know if there is any way of viewing IE only sites in Safari?"
In general if a web site has chosen to write and test their site only using Windows IE, or if they have chosen to use Microsoft proprietary technology (like Active X) there is nothing a non-Windows user can do except request the web site developers to support established web standards that support ALL platforms and browsers. Sometimes the web site will actually work with Safari but the web site blocks any browsers other than Windows. Safari can be made to present itself as Windows IE 6 to the web site. For a new user the simplest way to do this is to get the free OS X utility called Onyx. Using Onyx the user can turn on a hidden Safari menu called the "Debug" menu. From that menu the user can tell Safari to fake the web site into thinking it's taking to a Windows IE 6 browser. This is usually a hit-or-miss workaround. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You could also try using a alternate browser like Firefox, Camino, Opera, and a number of other OS X compatible browsers. Again, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't work.
As a new Mac user it is very important for you to understand that the Safari browser is not defective, substandard, or limited. Safari is probably one of the best standards compliant browsers in existence. The problem lies with the fact that Windows IE doesn't follow the rules very well, responds to code differently than standards based browsers, tolerates errors much more than it should (which is one major reason for its security problems) and is totally tied to the Windows OS. Because 85% of the world uses Windows there are a lot of lazy web site developers that test their pages only with Windows IE. They don't care if their site doesn't work with anything else.
Don't ever believe these sites if they tell you that something is wrong with Safari. It's THEIR site that is not standards compliant. Tell them they need to support accepted web standards.
This, of course, doesn't solve the problem but you are not alone. OS X, Linux, Unix users all face the fact that some sites will simply not work with anything else than Windows IE. The 800 lb gorilla does what it wants, when it wants, to whoever it wants.

You haven't provided much information, such as what type of router you have?  If you entered the encryption key as the password as opposed to the router name you have selected?  If you have WEP or WPA?  What you've tried that didn't work, other than saying it doesn't work?  So, below is a link to some assistance.  Follow this and see if it helps you.........

  • Viewing iWeb site in OS9 browser - anyone done it successfully?

Hi folks - I made an iWeb site yesterday and although it looks great on my OS X system under Firefox and Safari, my husband running OS 9.2.1 on a G4/733 cannot view the site successfully at all.
In IE 5.0 it loaded up OK but the menu links at the top of the home page didn't work, in Netscape (7, I think) the layout is all over the place, iCab 3 loads the layout OK, the menu links work, but it only briefly flashes the placed images up and then they vanish again. Has anyone managed to view an iWeb site OK using an OS9 browser? Any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your message Antonio. I did upgrade the version of IE to 5.1.7 but unfortunately the problem with th rollover links still remains. I am using the 'Formal' template and it's the small rollovers generated at the top of each page that don't work under that browser in OS9. I have got around the problem by manually including a second set of hyperlinks lower down on each page, to duplicate the rollovers, but this is a bit of a pain of course. Oh well, may just have to work on my DH to upgrade to OS X!
    Thanks for your suggestion.

  • Viewing web sites with Adobe Flash contents

How can I view web sites with adobe Flash player plugin for safari on iPad?

    Sorry, you can't.
    Thoughts on Flash
But a lot of sites are converting to HTML5 and there are other options.
Examples from Steve's link above, "YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others."

  • Viewing quicktime movies in Safari

What are the specifications for viewing quicktime movies in safari? I've tried several different sites, most without luck. One very useful site (http://mac.sillydog.org/qt/compare.php) has several different QT formats posted. I was surprised to find out that I could not view the H.264 format, but that I could view the MPEG-4 (basic) and MPEG-4 (Improved) formats (these are the last 2 examples on the page). Also, does anyone know if it is possible to view any streaming quicktime video from within Safari? TIA
    -peter-

Update: No it is not possible to stream quicktime video to ipod touch or iPhone at this time. Only Audio streams are supported.
I don't know the exact specifications off hand, although I know for definate that Apple's trailer site now redirects you to a iPhone-friendly version when browsed from either iPod touch or iPhone.
Maybe you could look into what spec the videos are encoded there? - Hopefully you can, I'd also be able to upload video in ipod touch compatible format(s).

  • How do you view desktop mode in safari?

How do you view desktop version in safari in I phone 5

Depends on the site.  When on the mobile version of the site, look for a link to their desktop version.  If none is offered, it's not possible with Safari.
There are other browsers in the App Store that allow you to change the browser ID to somehting other than Mobile.  iCabMobile is one that allows you to set the ID to any one of many browsers, tricking the visited site into thinking you're using a desktop browser, thus automatically displaying the desktop version of the site.

  • Others can view my webpage in Safari, but I cannot

I have my own personal website www.naturalyoga.com which was created on WordPress. I own the domain name. On my Mac computer, I cannot view the webpage in Safari. However, it works in Firefox. Others have tried it as well and it also works in Explorer and Firefox on PC's. Another Mac user could view the webpage in Safari on their computer.
Would this indicate a break in the code somewhere? Or is there some confirgured wrong with my Mac that is not allowing me to view it?

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions..
I can view it no problem so try trouble shooting. BTW, beautiful web site!
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.

Make sure Safari is running in 32-bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
