I changed my apple id and now I can't update my apps or download new ones. I've changed the ID in my iphone settings, but when I go in the apps store my old ID shows up. If I change my settings back to the old ID my password doesn't work. HELP!
So I changed my Apple ID. Now on my Iphone I can't update things from the apps store or download new stuff. I went into settings and changed my ID there, but in the apps store it still shows up as my old ID. The apps store won't let me log on with the new one, as my old still shows up, and if I go back into settings and change it back to the old ID the password I had before no longer works. This ***** Apple. You just ruined my Iphone!!! My phone went from being cool to being junk since I am not unable to download or update apps...the coolest part of my phone. Someone help??? Please tell me how I can enjoy my phone and apps again...
Thank you for the response, but I ended up temporarily resetting my Apple ID... It was a pain, but it worked in the end.

I am getting frustrated because I can't update my apps that were downloaded under the old apple id. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I have already tried signing back in under my old apple id and it says that that id is no longer in use.
Applications are connected to the Apple ID that they were purchased/downloaded with. If you updated your ID, you should be able still sign in with that ID, if you are logged into that ID on the phone. However, if you created a new Apple ID, then you would not be able to use that ID to update the apps.

Did you purchase Apple Care? If you did, you still have access to Apple Support. If not, go to your Apple Store and let them help you get it set up correctly. I'm sure it's something simple we're missing. Good Luck.
Do remember one thing. iMessage on iPad only works with other iOS devices. This means you can only text to people who:
1. Have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
2. And they have upgraded to iOS 5 or higher -
I changed my Apple ID on my mac. now when i try to sync my iPad, the user ID still is the emaill address of the OLD apple ID and it asks me for a password. I'd like for the message to have the NEW apple ID email and not the old, so that I can access the credit on my account in the app store and use iCloud on my iPad.

Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new Apple ID. -
HT201272 I changed my email address and now I can't update my apps
I am unable to update purchases I made with my old email address since I updated my apple account with my new email.
When I try to update an old app I am prompted to put in my password for my old address, therefore it does not recognise the password, and password reminder doesn't work as its not the email in my account anymore.
How can I update these apps or change the email address associated with them?Did you just change your address, or create a new iTunes account? If it is not a new account you will first have to fix the password problem. Email iTunes Store support if you cannot figure out how to resolve the problem. Have you updated your login on the phone, in addition to iTunes on your computer?
To update your iPhone you need to install the latest version of iTunes (10.5). You also need an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. The 3G cannot be upgraded beyond 4.2.1. -

iCloud is already set on my old Apple ID in my Iphone and I can't delete it. Whenever I add my password it says it's wrong, and when I tried to retrieve my password (of the former Apple ID) it didn't send me an email. Mostly explained in the title. My dad gave me his MacBook, and I went ahead and wiped all of his stuff by using the recovery partition to wipe/reinstall OSX Lion. In the setup I used a new apple ID and now I can't get iLife apps. I'm relatively new to how apple works its purchases, so I'm not sure what's up. Is it that my computer has a unique ID set to the first apple ID used on it, and if so, how can I get this reset to my ID? I'm planning to get an iPhone 5 soon so I'd like to be able to use photo stream with iPhoto and try out Guitar Band.
Any help is much appreciated.

I changed the name of my apple id and now I can't use the app store on my phone correctly because it's using my apple id's old name. I signed out and in on itunes and synced my iphone. Still doesn't work. Help please?
Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...sign back in with the ID you want to use.
Note: Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to originally obtain them. They cannot be updated using any other Apple ID other than the one they were originally obtained with. -

Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
It sounds like your Apple ID is used for both the iTunes & App Stores and iCloud. If you edited that Apple ID before signing out of the iCloud on your devices, it may be necessary to edit the Apple ID back to the original email account so that you can sign out of iCloud. Once signed out, you can edit the Apple ID back to the new email account and sign back in. Please use the attached article for further information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

I have found an article that can help you to troubleshoot this issue with your iPhone. The article can be found here:

Specifically, the first three steps listed in the article, and outlined here below, might be the most helpful to you:
1. Update your device software
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
2. Check for app updates
Ensure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
When prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the application updates.
Note: Some applications may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install a free (or paid) app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You could also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

I changed my itunes password only and now I can't update any of the apps I downloaded using the old password. I tried signing in with the old password with no luck. Can someone help please?
Have you signed out of your iTunes account on the device/computer that you are using and signed back in with the updated password ? That should 'refresh' the account on it, and you should be able to use the account's new password to download updates to its apps

My fiance logged into my iphone with his apple ID and now I can't switch it back to my username. When I go to buy an app his username is in an editable format to beable to change it back to mine. Had you looked in the User Guide, you would have found this: Settings>Store. Tap on AppleID to change.

I recently changed my Apple ID and now iMessages won't work on my Mac. It will still work on my iPhone and iPad, but they will not communicate with my Mac. None of the messages I try to send from my Mac will go through.

This is a step up from the previous suggestion.
Make the Finder the "front" app.
Use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears in the Menu list.
Navigate to Preferences.
Find com.apple.imservice.imesssages.plist and drag it to the Trash.
Restart the app.
You will most likely have to re-enter the Apple ID
If that does not work delete the com.apple.imessages.bag.plist (this one holds the server it should be trying rather).
Again Restart the app.

I have change my Apple id and now my phone cant sign into i cloud. I dont have the old pas word to delete the old account. It will not stop asking for the icloud id.
ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them. Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password. Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.
