I charged my Shuffle with...

The problem appeared when I tried to charge my Ipod Shuffle with a non-apple charger. After that the player started acting really strange: It would only play music when connected to that charger, once disconnecter it wouldn't give any sign. My computer does not recognise it, it looks dead...what did I do? Please, help me!!!
Thanks a lot !!!
Peter

You'll have to try working through the troubleshooting steps on the iPod Shuffle Support Page that deal with what to do when your iPS isn't seen by the system or by iTunes; the hope there is that those would be successful and that you could then Restore your iPS from an iPod Updater program and get things working again.
I sort of suspect that your suspicion is correct, though .... something went wrong when you plugged it into that other charger and your damage may not be repairable.

  • Using 2G shuffle with speakers while simultaneously charging

I currently listen to my 40GB iPod photo at work through logitech mm50 speakers for 8-10 hours a day. I bought a 2G shuffle to use at work instead, because I've already dropped the big iPod from 30 feet up (I'm a carpenter...was working on a church bell tower...) and decided that my 400 dollar iPod was not worth risking at work any more.
I'm looking for a solution to using the shuffle with my speakers that will also charge the shuffle while in use. I know can plug the shuffle into the mm50 using the headphone jack to the line-in jack on the speakers, but then the shuffle is always running off the internal battery. That'll burn up the battery faster that I would like to.
I make of practice of using it plugged in with the big iPod, and once a week or so running off of batteries to keep the batteries excercised, and would like to do the same with the shuffle. I can see no way to do that. Does anyone know of any kind of adaptor that'll turn the usb cord from the shuffle dock into a full-blown dock connector? I saw that Altec Lansing had a cradle type of thing for using the 1G shuffle in their docking speaker sets. Ideally something like that for the 2G would be great.

  • IPod shuffle first gen won't charge or sync with iTunes

When I connect my shuffle to the mac, iTunes won't recognize my it anymore. No light even comes on to show that it was charging, as if it wasn't connected. I decided to charge it to an outlet, but still, there was abolutely no light on the iPod. I know it never got wet, and I can still listen to music, but the back cover (that protects the battery, circuit board, etc.) came off when I dropped it recently. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

A 1st gen shuffle does not have a "back cover."  Are you referring to the flat piece that moves as the shuffle's power switch?  If so, you should be able snap it back on.  It may have been damaged internally by the impact of being dropped, but it should not be damaged only because that piece came off.
A 1st gen shuffle is getting pretty old at this point.  The most common failure point is the built-in full USB plug on that model.  It wears out over time, from being plugged and unplugged.  At some point, it can lose its ability to connect for power and data.  If the problem occurred at the same time as being dropped, that could have damaged an internal connection between the USB plug and the logic board.
It could also be a problem on the logic board.  The battery also wears out, but I don't think that's the cause in this case, because you should still get some kind of light when you connect it, if it was only a worn out battery.
It's probably not worth the cost of repair, if you have a shop do it.  Plus, even if you find a shop that will do it, the repair parts they would use at this point would likely be salvaged from other used shuffles (that are broken for some other reason).  You can get a brand new shuffle with one-year warranty, more storage, new headphones, and new features for $50.

  • TS1369 2nd generations Ipod Shuffle with Windows 8?

How do you get a 2nd generations Ipod Shuffle compatible with Windows 8? (it works on just fine in earlier versions)
If you plug it in through a USB connection it blinks orange/green really really fast. It is not recognized neither by Itunes or Windows (PC), Not recognized nor taking any charge.
I first thought it just came to the end of its life, but then plugging it in with my old laptom (Windows XP) and another laptop (Widows Vista) it worked just fine.
I have the newest version of all my software, so this has to be a driver compatibility issue, the question has Apple solved it yet?

I asked about the USB docking cable because some folks who also have a 3rd or 4th gen shuffle were trying to use the cable from those shuffles with a 2nd gen shuffle.  Or they bought a replacement part that is for the 3rd or 4th gen shuffle.  It fits, but the connector is different, so it does not work.
You have determined that the shuffle and its cable work properly when connected to a different computer.  Since the Windows 8 computer is a new computer that was not used with this shuffle before, the cause could be related to the computer's hardware or software.
As a test, if you have another device that is similar to an iPod, such as a USB flash drive or a mini external hard drive that is powered by the USB port (not something low-power like a mouse or keyboard), connect it to the computer's USB port to confirm the port does generally work for other things.
If the USB port is confirmed to work for other devices, if you have a USB hub, as another test, connect the hub to the USB port.  Perferably, the hub is the type that is self-powered (has its own power supply).  Connect the shuffle to the hub to see if that makes any difference if the hub is between the iPod and the computer.

If so, the answer is again NO...

  • Listen and charge your shuffle in a car

    please do something about it,
why there always has to be some issue with the mac products?
is it too much to ask to be able to charge your ipod and listen to it at the same time?
what were the the designers thinking when they made the 2nd generation.
please give another 2.5mm connector or make a useable splitter(since there isn't one available yet).
my car is full of cables and plugging and unplugging them does not seem to be in line with the apple's "uncluttered" design concept.
things like this is what ruins apple's reputation.
    another thing,
i have an mac air and no way to connect it to wired internet ethernet cable if wireless in not available. ehm.
    thanks

    Hi Ari & Shuffiej,
I'm working on a design for integrating the shuffle for automotive use. It's important to be able to charge (5-volts via a linear voltage regulator) and play analog audio at the same time (via 3.5mm male plug). Do either of you know if the audio out circuits and the 5-volt charging circuit can be utilized simultaniusly. (I can have a plug specially made to physically work but don't know if the circuitry within the shuffle will allow this)
Given that Griffin Technology makes an iPod dock adapter for the shuffle
with a switch for "play" or "charge", I'd be pretty safe in guessing that
the audio and charging circuit can NOT be used simultaneously...

  • MacBook doesn't charge iPod shuffle

The only way to charge iPod Shuffle is by connecting it via USB port to your computer. So I wonder why on earth my MacBook is not capable to charge it while it is shut down let alone when it is put to sleep! If a battery can be charged in aforementioned situations so should the iPod Shuffle.
where can I report such incompatibility or where can I put a suggestion for Apple people to work it out?

Did you download any programmes like
caffeine to prevent your macbook from sleeping after
    the display has been closed?
No. It gives every indication that it is sleeping normally: pulsing front light, becomes cool to the touch, wakes when lid opened or key pressed, doesn't do anything strange when awakened. I also haven't used pmset to change the sleep setting from default; it pauses before the sleep light pulsates as if it's writing the sleep image to disk.
As a matter of fact, it continues to provide power with two different pads. The cheap inline switch on the pad failed and I had it replaced under warranty. The second unit has the same behavior.

  • MacBook charger problem/Issue with charging

I've got the newest revision MacBook and there's a big problem with my charger. First, let me note that I've got the newest battery update, and have recently reset my PRAM and PMU. Inn addition, I've installed the new firmware update, and that has only seemed to make it worse. The trouble is that when I plug the MagSafe into my MacBook, it either:
    a) shows me no indication that it the power cord is connected, or;
    b) a dim green light appears where there should be a brighter green one that turns orange.
Now, I can sometimes stare at the little prongs coming out of the MagSafe connector to see how to best align the male and female ends. However, this still takes 5-10 minutes to do if it works at all, and the slightest motion disconnects the power. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a software problem, an issue with the charger, or one with the computer itself? If you need to see pictures to tell, I can post them on flickr and give you a link. By the way, this is bad enough that I am typing on a Windows PC right now, against my will.

I have exactly the same issue.
In when i connect the macbook to the power adapter, there's no bright light showing (only very vague green in the dark) , and it shows in the system profiler that its connected but not charging.
i changed the power adapter but the problem still exist, tried to change the battery as well, but didnt work as well, what is the part which is having a problem in this case?!
By the way also completed al restds (SMC etc).
It is time that Apple provides a solution I figured out is is a common problem.
    any solutions?

Yes, you got the phone which was currently eligible for Early Edge at the time. This changes from time to time. When the iPhone 6/6+ was first released those were the ONLY phones you could purchase on Early Edge. This was for September and October of 2014. You would not have been able to purchase any other phone with Early Edge at the time. At the time, this made a lot of android phone owners angry, just as it is making the OP(an iPhone owner) angry now. Then it was the Droid Turbo ONLY, then it was....
One of the requisites AS LISTED ON THE EDGE PAGE is that your line must be eligible for an upgrade. Verizon lifts this requirement IF you want to purchase a specific phone. If the phone you want is not eligible for Early Edge at this moment, it may be at some point in the future and the phone CURRENTLY available may NOT be available for Early Edge. You were able to get the phone you wanted on Early Edge because it was the phone(or one of the phones) eligible at the time for Early Edge.
Verizon does not have a link for Early Edge because it is not always available AND the eligible phones change from time to time. This is no different than any other special they occasionally run.
Regardless, since a link WAS given for Edge which DOES list upgrade eligibility as being a requirement, if someone DOES NOT fulfill that requirement it is not out of the question that other portions of Edge may be different, too, such as what you posted "All Verizon Wireless smartphones, tablets and basic phones are eligible for Verizon Edge." If Verizon relaxes a requirement to enter into Edge, why is it so hard to fathom they may ALSO change something else such as which phones are eligible???
The fact that the OP IS NOT able to purchase an iPhone on Early Edge simply reinforces this fact.
