I chat showing numbers now (facebook )
i had been using iChat on 10.7.4 .
since two days, ichat is showing the names among all my facebook friends. every time i sign in , it shows the names and the profile pictures for around 2-3 minutes, then it shows numbers, and the default 'no-pic' photo.

By Default the Jabber server involved should send your app the Jabber ID.
In this case it is the Facebook email that has been enabled as the "Chat" ID on Facebook's Jabber server.
In the Address Book or Contacts app in Mountain lion you can add an IM service name to someone's Address Card.
Once this is done the iChat App (Or Messages in Mountain Lion) will display the "Real Name" in the Buddy list.
It is the same with AIM except it is possible at AIM to create a "Display Name" which will shown instead of the Screen Name if not linked to a real name in the Address Book.
What seems to be happening here is that the Jabber server at Facebook is alternating between showing you the Jabber ID (which your Address Book may be set up to recognise) and the number linked to that Buddies Facebook account.
It seems that people who use AdiumX as well as iChat and/or Messages in Mountain Lion report that it seems not to happen in Adium.
Whilst appearing to be a security breach on the Facebook side of things it also appears to be a reaction between the way the Apple Apps (iChat and Messages) retrieve the info from Facebook.
I would guess both side will blame each other.
At this stage I am not sure there is anything a user can do at the Mac end.
I don't have a Facebook Account but I would follow forums there for more info.

I just started using iChat for Facebook Chat, but it shows numbers instead of names for most of my contacts.
Is there any workaround for this?
Adium shows names just fine, but I want to use iChat instead.

With AIM names there is an Option on the AIM pages to change your Display name. (in your Account Settings)
If you have an AIM Buddy list and stick in my Screen Name (ralphjohnsr) you will notice it displays as Ralph johns R with the Upper case letters and spaces.
I am wondering if FaceBook have done something similar but not everyone has changed (or more likley Facebook are using the "wrong" list or haven't told anyone).
The strange thing is only the two of you have mentioned it so far so there is probably some other explanation.
On the Address Book Front I have added (level 4) to some Buddies that I happen to know via these Apple Forums (under the previous software there were only 5 Levels of posters) when we used to chat using iChat on a more regular basis.
iChat does allow you to Create Nicknames in the Info Card but this Adds them to the Address Book.
(it also has difficulty with lots of Nicknames that are the same such as Dave for David)
It would interesting to know if Adium "Sees" the numbers instead of names. (Or ProteusX if anyone has it)

Why has my messaging changed to showing phone numbers now instead of name of contact? How do I change back to the way it was?
Does it only happen on numbers that don't have a country code?
Did you change your region settings?
If so, that may be why.
Put the missing country codes or check your region to match your current area. -

Calendar showing numbers instead of name of day in week view
Mavericks Calendar is showing numbers from 1 to 7 in stead of the name of the day (mon, tue ... etc) in week view. Any solutions?

If you refer to the Function Help in the Inspector, you will see that in Numbers WEEKDAY returns a number representing the day of the week. To convert that to the name of the day, you must wrap WEEKDAY in a DAYNAME function, as follows:

Messages Contact Names Appear as Numbers Now Instead
I have OS X 10.8.5, my Messages app has all of my contacts as their phone numbers now instead of their names. There are a few contact that have their name appear still, but a majority of them appear as phone numbers. I don't remember if this happened after I installed iOS 7 on my phone, but I think there might be a correlation between the two.
Has this happened to anyone else? How do I fix this?I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.

Recieved SMSs showing numbers instead of contact names

My iPhone 4 shows only numbers starting with +20 (Egypt's International code) with recieved SMSs and the only way to show contact names is to add +20 to all of my contacts (with an app) but that would make recieved "calls" show numbers and not names !!!
Any way to fix that ?Check to see if you have contacts in your Contacts app. This is something that can happen sometimes, and is usually cured by resetting the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. No data will be lost.

Go to the "photo" inspector "photo" page and uncheck the "Allow visitors to subscribe" box.
Click the "slideshow" button and uncheck the "enable slideshow" box. -
Photo editing doesn't show in emails, facebook, etc...
Whenever I attach my pictures to emails or export them to facebook or things like that any of the editing I do won't show up. The only thing that shows up is the cropping. Is there a way to change this?
AH! This is my problem as well! When I set the mouse over "Done" and "->" they both say "save changes; move to next photo" and none of those changes ever show up in Facebook albums. It's frustrating without a "Save"! Is "Done" the only way to save editing?

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Table control-change the output of a column. My column shows numbers (char)

I have in the table control a table. This table show varoius columns , but one column shows numbers. My boss detected that there are showed the numbres but without decimals . for example 10 is showed instead of 10.35. The format of the column is char . How can i change the format to make it appear with decimals? I tried with split in the internal processes. but the problem are the external ones. Because this column is automatically converted to char . what can i do ?

i just referenzed from a field of a matrix table., the machine recognizes this field as char and shows the filed with no decimals at all

Try to sign out of iTunes and sign back in, that usually fixes authentication problems.
