    Hi,
    Just bought an ipod classic and appart from charging nothing happens when connecting it for the first time, I don't even see it in my finder window.
    Help please.
    Thanks.

    If your signature is correct in stating your computer is running 10.4.5, you need to run Software Update to get your system up to 10.4.10 or later.

  • Lost my iphone 5 data when backed up for 1st time.

    I lost all of the photos and other data on my I5 when i backed it up for first time. It asked if i wanted to back up from last date which i conformed. the last date was the date i backed up my old I4. Now it has reverted back to that data and everything taken since had I5 has gone. Can i get it back?

    You didn't "back up" your I5, you did a restore, and you chose the old backup from the I4.  Maybe you never did a backup of the I5.
    How to restore:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your device.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

  • Connecting ipod for first time, 2 computers, 1 succesful

    I have 2 computers (Computer A and computer B for substitute names)
    I tried plugging in my ipod via USB for the first time on Computer A, when I do that a "found new hardware wizard pops up" I follow instructions and it says its not installed, i hit finish and its not installed, in device manager it has a yellow question mark on the ipod.
    In Computer B, all I did was plug it in the USB Port and it found the hardware, it didnt give me the "found new hardware wizard" it just told me on the taskbar that it installed the ipod hardware.
    So Computer B got the ipod installed while Computer A didn't. Can you help me get the ipod installed for Computer A?
    ==Computer A==
    Windows XP Home
    200GB HDD
    1GB PC3200 Memory
    AMD ATHLON 3400+
    =FAQ Not to waste your time=
    Did I disable and uninstall ipod under device manager?
    - Yes
    Did you use the 5 R's? (Reset, restore etc..)
    - Yes
    Did you plug in the usb port to the back usb ports?
    - Yes, and the front ones

    If the iPod shows up with an exclamation point in Device Manager, then the problem has nothing to do with iTunes. The iPod is not being recognized correctly as a mass storage device. Even with no Apple software installed, the iPod should show up in Device Manager without an exclamation point and mount as a disk in My Computer. There is a fairly exhaustive list of things to try here.

  • For some time now, when I connect my iPod to my PC, I'm told my iPod cannot be synced to iTunes because (the file cannot be found).  What gives?

    For some time now, when I connect my iPod to my PC, I'm told my iPod cannot be synced to iTunes because (the file cannot be found).  What gives?

    Sounds like the file yo are trying to sync to the iPod is corrupted.
    Try syncing only one item that plays in iTunes on the computer.
    Also see the following since when you downgrade iTunes you have to reset your iTunes library since the older version can't read the updated version of the library.

  • TS3297 Does anyone know how to reset your security questions?? I loaded an itunes gift card on new ipod but when trying to make a purchase, itunes is asking us the incorrect security questions?!(for 1st time purchase)

    Does anyone know how to reset your security questions?? I loaded an itunes gift card on new ipod but when trying to make a purchase, itunes is asking us the incorrect security questions?! (for 1st time purchase)  I know the questions are not what I chose because I wrote the questions & answers down when setting up the ipod. Any ideas??!!!

    Reset Security Questions
    Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
    Manage My Apple ID
    Or you can email iTunes Support at iTunes Store Support.
    If all else fails:
      1. Go to: Apple Express Lane;
      2. Under Product Categories choose iTunes;
      3. Then choose iTunes Store;
      4. Then choose Account Management;
      5. Now choose iTunes Store Security and answer the bullet questions, then click
          Continue;
      6. Sign in with your Apple ID and press Continue;
      7. Under Contact Options fill out the information and advise iTunes that you would
          like your security/challenge questions reset;
      8. Click Send/Continue.
    You should get a response within 24 hours by email.
    In the event you are unsuccessful then contact AppleCare - Contacting Apple for support and service.
    Another user had success doing the following:
    I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
    Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
      a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
          tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
      b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
          "done", in the upper right corner
      c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
          Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
          should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
          security questions.
      d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
          selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
          should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
          questions.
    It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.
    Good Luck friends!

    This is how it's displayed: http://i50.tinypic.com/nd7vk7.jpg
    And this is what happens when I click properties and 'search for solutions': http://i47.tinypic.com/2iu3vrc.jpg (the box disappears after that, apparently having done nothing, when I search online for software it informs me my computer already has the best/latest installed)

  • I have an unknown error (-81) when connecting iPod Photo and Nano

    This error keeps coming up when connecting iPods to iTunes and no photos can be downloaded.
    I have downloaded the all the latest iTune and iPod updates

    Hello penel2907,
    This could be due to a hardware issue. You may try using a different USB port on your computer.
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020, 1669.
    Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • ITunes stop working when connecting ipod 4th generation on Vista

    When connecting ipod 4th generation to a computer running Vista Ultimate, ITunes (version 8) closes. Windows provide the following message - iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Thanks!

    i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)

  • Ive had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been using my laptop to sync songs from iTunes.  Unfortunatley, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do i now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

    I've had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been connecting it to my laptop to sync any downloaded tunes from iTunes.  Unfortunately, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do I now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

    If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
    The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

    the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer. (when putting ipod into mac) help,. now have no music on my ipod. how do i sort this out?

    - Verify the file and disk formats on your camcorder and on your friend computer whether they support what you want to do. Also, if you are using a specific application to do the task, you may need to verify an application whether it supports the file format (e.g. MPEG4, Apple Intermediate Codec).
    - Verify the device cable type whether Mac OS X 10.4.x supports.
    - Verify the device compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4.x.
    - Check an available firmware or driver for the camcorder that has developed after Mac OS X 10.4.4.
    - Try diagnosing and repairing local hard disk and camcorder's drive directory.
    - Verify disks permissions issue.
    - Verify whether the disk is TOO warm or cold to read.
    - If every troubleshooting does not solve the issue, consider to reformat the camcorder drive.
