I click apply update on the about firefox window but then cancelled it, now it wont work

Firefox informed me of an update, i applied it but cancelled it when it asked for the admin password. I am now trying to apply it about it just closes down and restarts with out it being applied. My current version is 4.0.1 when i go to the about firefox page it still has 'apply update' everytime.

Such a download is usually saved in an updates or updated folder in the Firefox program/application folder.
You can delete this folder to cancel the download.
If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.

Everytime i try to update my iphone 3gs it downloads but then cancels halfway but not the full file. When i download 6.1.3 from various sites i receive an error (3194). I've been trying to troubleshoot it now for weeks. Also i can't copy songs music photo's or anything on it as well. Help would be highly appreciated please and thank you.

Instructions immediately talk about Firefox Window, but doesn't say how to get this window.

It's taken me almost an hour to get to this point. I am technologically challenged. I have an old version of Firefox. The instructions immediately launch into the "Firefox Window" but says nothing about how to get to this window. Where is this window? Maybe I should just download Opera?

What instructions are you talking about and what do you want to accomplish?
Note that it is not safe to use such an outdated Firefox version that has known disclosed security vulnerabilities, so please update to the current Firefox 33 release.

In the "About Firefox" window, the "Restart to Update" button is always shown, but does not work.

If i press it it will restart Firefox, but will not have updated it. I always have to manually upgrade Firefox, but even then About Firefox screen says Restart to Update

I had this same problem and discovered today that the reason is because I do not often log on as Administrator and it appears Firefox won't update from my non-administrator ID. (I have a separate Administrator account set up on my computer so I don't inadvertently do something terrible.)
When I logged on as Administrator and went to Firefox>Help>About Firefox (for me, 16.0.0.2), it had already started updating itself to 17.whatever. Restart to Update appeared again, and when I clicked it, Firefox updated itself to 18.0.1 and now shows a Check for Updates button, which returns that Firefox is up-to-date.

I am currently using Firefox 4.0 as it says with the "About Firefox". But when I'm trying to install certain add-ons for FF4, it still says that I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 :|

According to the "More system details..." you have a preference set called '''general.useragent.override''' which sounds like the most likely culprit. Use the about:config preference editor to clear that preference.
(1) Type or paste '''about:config''' into the location bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful if it appears.
(2) Type '''agent''' into the filter box and wait for the list to be filtered.
(3) Right-click '''general.useragent.override''' and choose Reset to return that preference to its default value.

By the way, this override might have been set by an add-on to improve compatibility with something else... good luck tracking it down.

II tried to update to the latest Firefox version, but I'm told to close open Mozilla windows, then I'm asked if I want to cancel the update, how do I bypass this?

I am no longer able to open Firefox browser windows. So I went through Internet Explorer to the Firefox website. I attempted to download the latest free version of Firefox. I followed the steps to install it but then a dialog box appears prompting me to close Firefox so the installation can be completed. The only way to get out of the dialog box is to agree to cancel the update. So, how do I complete the updating process?

When I view application windows, but then cancel from this view I am moved to another open window from the application on a different desktop space. How can I prevent this from happening?

Hi Everyone!
I'm new to Mac, and I'm a bit unsure of how to handle a problem I'm having with application windows.
Here's the scenario:
On one space I have a bunch of PDF's open in Preview next to the document I am working on. On another space, I might have an unrelated PDF open and an image, also open in Preview. Now, say I use the Application Windows button to view all my open PDF's on the first space, but then discover I haven't got the PDF open, so I need to open in in finder. The moment I quit out of the Application Windows view I am transported to another desktop containing an open Preview window! This happens with other applications too, like if I trigger application windows on pages instead of preview and need to cancel, I get transported off to some other open pages document.
This is insanely infuriating, how can I stop it!

I just updated my mac software to 10.6.8 so I could install iTunes. When I go to iTunes and click to go to the store, it loads but then it goes blank. ?? Help please

I've deleted/uninstalled iTunes and installed it again but it still goes blank when I click on the iTunes Store.

I am using Firefox 5, latest beta on Windows XP SP3. After installing the latest beta the links to the different channels (aurora, beta, release) no longer appears in the about Firefox window. What happened?

Looks like the Channel Switcher was removed from Aurora 6.0a2 and Nightly 7.0a1, too, sometime between the 06-09 versions and today's builds (06-13).

Have apple tv 2g and several IDevices (ipad, iphone..)and around the house i have several access point connect via UTP cable to the same router/modem, but when i try Airplay it wont work if the devices are on dif wifi conn. regardelless its the same LAN.

Problem with Homesharing/Airplay with dif IDevices (Itunes with a PC, Iphone, Ipad, Itouch etc) using my home wifi connections that has several access point throu out the house and they all are connected via UTP cable to the same modem/router (My LAN).
When i try to use airplay or homesharing both devices have to in the same ACCESS POINT (it does not mather if its WIRED or WIRELESS, i have the same problem with both).
Any ideas?? This did not happen before i upgraded ITUNES in order to use IOS5.

Thanks for the advice. But i dont have any devices sync wifi. It also happens with older versions of IOS on iphone 4.2.1 and 3.1.3 and also IOS5 (no wifi sync enable).
Basiclly when i try to airplay music using itunes (pc) to my apple tv 2g (4.3.3.) they both have to be in the same access point, if the apple tv is connect via UTP cable i have to be connected to that access point wifi. Basicly dosent work with dif access points. Also if i manage to be on the same access point (itunes using a pc and the apple tv) if i have to use Remote App to change songs i have to be in the access point to.. can not see the devices...
Any ideas?

In the About Firefox Help window what does, "You are currently on the default update channel" mean?

Firefox cannot perform an automatic update when running as a normal user on my system (it just spins when connecting to the update server) so normally when it notifies me of an update I run the application as root, open the About Firefox dialog and select update Firefox. 
I was recently notified of an update to Firefox 7.0.1 (or 7.1 not positive) so I ran Firefox as root and opened the About Firefox box. 
This time instead of showing me "An update is available. Click here to update." it displayed "You are currently on the '''default''' update channel". 
What does this mean?

Mine says "the '''release''' update channel" on Windows. I believe this helps you know whether Firefox is checking for new official releases or new beta test releases. I don't know what '''default''' update channel indicates.
A web search indicates that '''default''' means no updates. To change your update channel, check out this article:

I have downloaded Firefox 5.0.1 4 times but the 3.6.19 version still shows up in the "about Firefox" box. Firefox says I have the latest version, but it just does not reflect it in the "about" box.

When I tried the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time to download 5.0.1, Firefox states that I have the latest version installed, but it still shows up as version 3.6.19 in the "about Firefox" box. And this older version is also reflected in your "educated guesses" about my current browser below.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded

Will I loose my open tabs that I need to be open if I update to the new FireFox?

I have many open tabs of tasks that I need to attend to or need readily available all the time.
If I update to the new Firefox will I loose all my open tabs?

Right-click one of those Tabs and select '''Bookmark All Tabs...'''. That way if anything happens to those tabs you can reload them all by a right-click on the folder that those tabs were saved to and using '''''Open All in Tabs'''''.
