I clicked on the firefox update & lost my old firefox page with my aol start & quick pick tool bar & this "new" page takes up more space so when I click on a different subject, I have LESS space to view it. . Why, WHY must you people always mess with things that were just fine. . I cannot eeven restore my computer to an earlier time, NOPE, won't do it. . So now what do I do ? ? Pete . . . God Bless . . . . I WANT MY PREVIOUS SETTINGS BACK ! ! ! ! !

The problem is with the page that opens at startup?
What does the new page look like? Can you paste the address into a reply?
Or if it doesn't have an address, maybe it's a page created by an add-on. Can you see any indication of the source of the page? Perhaps you could post a screen shot of what it looks like. To reduce content size, try the zoom feature: hold down the Ctrl key and tap the - key once or twice. If you want to reset the page to the standard size, you can hold down Ctrl and tap the 0 key once (zero).
But really we should get you back to the page you prefer, and hopefully with the additional details I requested we will be able to figure out what needs to get changed so you can do that.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

Usually you would get to a phishing site directly by mistyping, or from the search itself.

If you're certain that you have configured Firefox [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page correctly], and it's still not working, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. I can't say that I have had a problem playing videos in Flash because I could always play them in browsers other than Firefox.
In Firefox Tools>options>Advanced Hardware acceleration is turned on.
I don't know if that is different that tuning it off and on in Flash or not, but for now it is a moot point.
As I stated in my previous message, after following all earlier suggestions/instructions nothing helped. But The latest one, someone suggested that maybe version 17 of Flash might be a stable version.
I made no other changes except to install it, a few days ago, and so far so good.

Use an earlier version of Firefox, use Safari, or upgrade to a later version of OS X. Any Intel Mac can run Snow Leopard.

This is a little confusing since you say you have forgotten your password and then the system says you have not entered a password. Even with an Admin account you must have a password to install software.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or above, you can change the admin password by restarting holding the Command and R keys, from the menu bar select Utilities, then Terminal. When the Terminal window opens, at the cursor type exactly:
resetpassword
and press Enter. When the Reset Password window opens, select the internal hard drive, and then the user account. Type a new password twice, leave the Hint blank, and then Save. Accept the next dialog that opens, and at the bottom of the Reset Password window agree to resetting the home directory permissions.
Quit the Reset Password window, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, Restart.
And you have a new password for your account.

I tracked down the problem with the download and installation, my windows 7 was missing a file and after reinstalling windows everything worked out. The first 32 bit program in their list was used. I hope this can help others.
