I Cloud one account two phones

Just upgraded to iphone 4 GS from 3 GS.  Two phones, my husband and me...have one itunes account in my name and had both old phones with icloud and using my id, password etc.  Now with the new phones, I have mine connected and working with icloud (contacts, photos etc have been upgraded) but I cannot get the second phone to accept my password to set up the i cloud account.  The backup from itunes worked but that is out of date since we have been using icloud....
Is there a change that you can't have two phones with the one account, and if so, how do I get around this.  We have one email address (not the icloud one) and one itunes account.
Anybody have an easy solution to this problem.....pleaselllll

Welcome to the Apple Community.
It shouldn't be a problem, you should be able to have multiple devices on a single account. Try deleting the account and re-entering the data.
Of note, I'm not sure you are aware, but iTunes and iCloud are different accounts, you can share an iTunes account and hence music, apps, books etc, but have separate iCloud accounts, thereby having separate contacts and calendars etc.

  • One ID two phones

My wife and I each have new iPhones.  Can we use the same Apple ID?
I know that the FAQs say each person should have an individual ID, but we both want to have the same email account and the same credit card associated with our Apple ID.  What problems result if we each access the same Apple ID from different phones?
If having just one account is a problem, can we set up two seperate IDs using the same email and credit card?

Just left the Apple store with an official answer.  You can have two phones one Apple ID, turn off auto updates so you don't automatically get apps on both phones. Then you need two different iCloud accounts.

  • One account - two users ?

    Hi
I've been a mac user for 18 months and almost from the start, I have used an external HD to boot from, seeing how slow the 4200 RPM internal HD is.
I have just noticed something that really confuses me, though. Even if I only have one account created, "memyself&I" it looks like there is one user on each drive. If I create a new file/folder in my regular external drive user account, it will not show if for some reason, I decide to boot from the internal drive and vice-versa.
That wouldn't be so bad except I seem to have noticed that some apps (like Connect360) seem to ignore the external drive's user and only look at the internal drive's user account for data/settings.
Can anyone shed some light on this ? Would it be easier to forget the external HD and suffer the turtle effects of the internal drive or is there a way to easily manage the situation.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
Does your answer mean that I could have Tiger installed on my external drive and Panther or better yet, Leopard installed on my internal drive, both with "memyself&I", as a user ?
That could be interesting when a new OS comes out and you're not sure you will like it or simply want to to keep the "old" one, for a while.

  • One Account, Two iPods

This may not be what you expected: I do know how to use one account across multiple devices, but I couldn't think of a way to concisely word this.
My younger brother just received an iPod Touch 4G for Christmas. I already have an iPod Touch 4G, which I received last year. On our Apple ID, my whole family has bought games, songs, etc. My brother would like to transfer Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, and whatnot to his new iPod without buying them again. However, he also wants to text me through iMessages and compare game achievements and scores through Gamecenter.
Is there a way of texting and such between different iPods on the same account? Or will we have to make him a new account and rebuy the games?

Redownload the apps to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • One itunes account two phones with mixed up apps

I have an iphone 3Gs (Hers)and my boyf 4 (His), and i used my itunes on my computer to put music on his phone before- no problems.
I had upgraded my phone to iOS 5.1 and a few days later did his. iTunes recognised the phone id as "His" and proceeded to say upgrade available blah blah blah, and backed it up, and asked that there were purchases on "his" that werent in my iTunes libruary, etc, all went fine so we thought.
Now he has all my contacts in with his contacts and he's missing all his apps! and when we go across to Apps tab on summary it won't let us apply the selected apps to sync back to his phone. We tried manually deleating the contacts AND UNWANTED APPS (Ab workout & Period Tracker!) only to find them back on there when we went to put the music back on.(which is not going back on either btw)
He cant access App Store as my id ([email protected]) is coming up constantly on his phone and its asking for my password. He downloaded Facebook and some soccer apps this morning directly to his iphone using my ID as he cant get his to come back or get back his stuff that are in the itunes libruary. THe newest problem is that half hour ago i went into App store on my iphone, which is still accepting my ID, and downloaded FM104 ( he has this already) - the downlad commenced and up poppped the three soccer apps and downloaded too onto my iphone.
My boyf is a carpenter and has alot of contacts in his phone, and doesnt want mine, he's like his music back as he's on the road alot, and doesnt need a 7pm reminder to take his contraceptive pill going off!!!  PLEASE HELP !!!

Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes that the user controls. The same apps can be installed on both devices or different apps on each device, which is selected under the Apps tab for each device.
First disable automatic syncing when each iPod is connected. Under the Apps tab for the first device, deselect automatically sync new apps. Deselect the apps that you don't want installed on the device. Select Apply followed by a sync.
    Repeat for the 2nd device.

  • Two users, one account, two separate email accounts

I recently upgraded my iMac 17" G5 to a 24" Core 2 Duo and I would like to set it up with one administrator account since it is only myself and my girlfriend that will be using this computer. Can I have this one user account and use Mail for both of our Mobile Me accounts, but not have Mail group everything into one inbox? I know I can set up the multiple accounts in Mail, but it then groups both of our inboxes into one. Is there any way to separate our Mail accounts without creating separate user accounts and having to switch each time one of us sits down?
    Thanks

No. that's what separate user accounts are for. either use that or have all mail in the same inbox. however, the whole inbox has submailboxes fro each email account and those are separate.

  • If i remove one of two phones from my plan will it require a new plan? If so, will I lose my unlimited data?

I need to remove my son's phone from my family plan and I am worried that doing so will cause me to lose my unlimited data.  Does anyone know if my worries are legit?  The 2nd phone is costing me about 30 bucks a month would I be better off just keeping it to prevent updating my plan?
Thanks in advance for your help.

no, canceling the line will not affect your line/contract; you will have to pay an ETF if your son's line is still under contract, though
if he wants to take over his line on his own account, you could have him do an Assumption of Liability

  • One account, two computers

I had purchased songs on a different computer years back. I no longer have said computer but still have the same itunes account but on a new one. Is it possible to repurchase them? When I search the songs from my purchase history into the itunes store, it does not allow me to repurchase them for free, but for full price. The songs are still in the store but not in my library...so why wouldn't I be able to redownload them?

You have never been able to redownload songs.  You buy one download.
This is all changing with icloud, coming this fall.
In the U.S this is released in a beta version.

  • One Account/two computers/different account info/credit stuck

I received a gift card and redeemed it at work. (it was emailed to work, so I clicked the redeem button there) I pulled up itunes at work and my $20.00 credit showed up. When I went home and logged in, it was not there. After a little more investigating I realized that even though my apple ID and password are the same when I log into itunes on the different computers, the account info is different. At work, it has my husband listed, the wrong cc# and it won't allow me to edit the account info. (the box to click is missing) When I log in at home, it has my information, the correct cc#, and I can edit my info. My home computer is correct, the work one is wrong.....but my credit is stuck in my account on the work computer. Weird, huh? Can anyone help me get my credit to show up at home?????

It might sound redundant but have you gone to myinfo.apple.com and tried changing the acct information?

  • Handling one account -- two permission levels

Suppose a user has permission to administer a site collection.  Let's also presume they would not use that account for their day-to-day SharePoint "contributor" access.  I suggested two accounts for that user
to my boss who said "no". He prefers a button (via javascript?) appear on that user's pages which would allow him to select whether they are running with contributor or elevated permissions. That approach is very much un-SharePoint
like. How would you deal with this problem?
    TIA,

That wouldn't be possible. There are cookies and security tokens behind the scenes that JS wouldn't have access to clear.

  • How do we sync contacts and calendars (ONLY) between two iCloud accounts, two iPhones and one iMac with two user accounts?

This is complex.  Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife.  We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us.  Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd.  (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her.  And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff.  But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine.  But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account.  That works great for the calendars and the contacts.  But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account.  And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones.  Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's.  So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone).  Does this description make sense to you?  I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work.  If you would like me to send the Keynote slides (just two of them - the current and desired configurations - please send your email address to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to forward it to you.
If anyone can help me set this up I'd be most appreciative!  Thanks so much.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all readers in this community!

    BobT.
I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
    1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
    2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about.

  • How can I restore my contacts, when I have two phpnes on one account? In icloud are the contacts of the first phone, and in my computer is the back up of my second phone

How can I restore my comtacts from pc back up when I do have two phones with one account?the i cloud has contacts from one of the phones, and the pc back up from the other?

    Hi Silky-Milky!
If I understand your question correctly, you are attempting to merge your contacts from your previous phone's backup into your iCloud account, then go back to using your new phone as normal, with the new merged database of contacts. I have an article that can tell you how to do exactly that:
Recovering iCloud or MobileMe data from iTunes backups for an iOS device

  • HT4436 How do I set up separate iCloud's and apple ids for two phones on one account?

I just got a new iPhone and when they transferred my contacts at the store they also replaced my husbands contacts on his phone! Major mess...how do I get the two phones on separate clouds??

To fix this, you need to migrate your data to a separate iCloud account.  Do not delete any data from either phone until this is done or it will also be deleted from iCloud and the other phone, and will be lost.
When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in your photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing Notes with iCloud (Settings>iCloud>Notes>On), you will also need to email these to yourself in order to keep them.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (i.e., deleting your husband's data from your account, and vice versa).

Have two iPhones with the same id as I got hubbie one in week and when I got it they asked for email address so I gave the one we use, so when my husband started phone up he just put my password in. When he tried to back his numbers on iCloud they all appeared on my phone and now I can't delete his numbers without them deleting on his phone as well . Any help would be appreciated.

You'll have to migrate one of the phones to a different account, then delete the other person's data from each account (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.

Finally, go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't from each account.
