I cloud with multiple devices

I have 2 x IPads and an iPod touch in the family home, I have set up iCloud on all 3 devices.  One of the iPads and iPod are on my account and the other iPad is on my wife's account.  When we upload photos from the iPod I can only view them through streaming on my wife's iPad and the iPod.  My wife downloaded apps on her iPad and the automatically uploaded on the iPod, it would appear my iPad is not linked to the family iCloud.  Also, I have music on my iTunes on the iPod but the music does not come on any other device.  I have iTunes app however do I need to download iTunes.

Automatic downloads of apps, music and books can only take place on devices that are all using the same Apple ID. You have to enable it in the settings on all devices as well.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Automatic Downloads>On....Music, apps, books. You have to turn it on in the settings on all of the devices that are using the same ID.
How your wife is seeing your photos if she is using another Apple ID is beyond me, unless you are using a shared Photo Stream with her iPad.

    Hello eagjdw
You can keep the one Apple ID for purchases and then create another one for a personal account for contacts and calendars. The article below will assist further

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
That's simply not possible I'm afraid. You'd need to give them their own account and allowance or make it so you are required to be there to input the password when they wish to make a purchase.

  • With multiple devices (.g, .n, .ac) will the Time Capsule degrade to the lowest speed, or will each run at the highest rate it is capable of?

    Highest rate capable.
Things may slow down a bit if you have a number of wireless devices connected simultaneously, since they must all share the same network bandwidth.

  • Can I have one cloud for my family with multiple devices and apple ids?

I need to know the best way to link multiple devices with different apple ids to the same iCloud to share iTunes and content.

    My iphone 5s = apple id 1
    Husband iphone 4s = apple id 2
My ipad = apple id 3
Son #1 ipad mini = apple id 4
Son #2 ipad mini = apple id 5
For iCloud.. Not quite, you want the same ID for iCloud on your phone and iPad so you have the same info on each. (so perhaps ID 1 on both.
But if you want to share your music (assuming lets say its your ID 1 that has the iTunes account), you should all use ID 1 for iTunes.

  • Can I share an iTunes account with multiple devices?

I had an iPhone 3GS. Just upgraded to an iPhone 5C. I'd like to save the 3GS for our daughter to use as an iPad Touch. I realize that I'll need to wipe the 3GS clean and start over with new apps for her. I have a few questions:
Can I use my same iTunes account for both devices, or must I create a new iTunes account for my daughter's app and music purchases?
How do I change the device name in iTunes, so that her iPhone no longer bears my name?
Also, can I sync both devices on the same computer, or is it better to use different computers for the two devices?
    Thank you!

    Agile,
Any of the above will work, depending how you would like to set it up.
Given that kids tend to eventually grow up and be independent, the best long term answer for most people is to let her have her own account and her own library as soon as she can handle it.  Keep in mind that content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, so separating later is a challenge.
If you want to sync multiple devices to the same library, that will work.  Or if you want separate libraries (as I would recommend), they can be either on separate computers or on separate Windows user accounts on the same PC.
For the name change:  Connect the device.  When the name appears in the left sidebar of iTunes, highlight it and change it.

  • How to share account with multiple devices?

3 kids with 3 devices - an iPod Touch and two iPads Mini - family shares one account with Apple/iTunes and one library on our family PC.  They use FACETIME and MESSAGES with their friends, and they all see each others messages and conversations.  How do I fix this?  Is there a setting or a way to create sub-accounts off the family account so they can still share the main library for music and video OR do I have to create separate Apple/iTunes accounts for each kid?  Is there a setting on their devices that can help?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I'm not even sure the right question to ask...

  • Would like assistance with multiple devices with multiple iTunes accounts syncing on one PC

I have had an iPhone for some years now and have been syncing with my PC without issue (first with iPhone 3gs and now with iPhone 4s). My wife bought me an iPad 3 retina in December 2012 which syncs with the same PC as my phone and shares the same iTunes account. Apps downloaded onto one device are automatically downloaded to the other, iMessages are sent and received to both devices also.
My Wife now has an iPad mini with retina (using her own existing iTunes account which she previously used for an iPhone she no longer uses). I synchronised her new iPad mini with my PC assuming iTunes would manage the device and related account and contents separately to my existing account and 2 devices. However this has caused an issue with the sharing of apps. Since doing so I have started seeing updates available on my devices for apps which I have never downloaded, but my wife has.  If I tell my iPad to update said apps, I am asked for my Wife's iTunes account password.
On doing some searching via google I now understand that I should have created a second windows profile on my PC for my wife and installed iTunes onto this profile for the purposes of syncing her device.
I would very much like to do this, but would like some assistance on the best course of action for doing so. If I proceed and created a second profile and sync her device to this, I presume I would need to tell iTunes to treat her iPad as a new device (and wonder what would happen to her existing content)? Assuming we do this, I presume the issue of my seeing her app updates would still persist?
Could someone advise if they have any experience with similar issues/queries?

  • WRT610n Router lag with multiple devices?

Hi, I had a WRT54G (best router I've used!!) but ugraded to WRT610n after a wrt310n upgrade didn't work well with XBox. The WRT610n v2 has been great but I''ve noticed some lag issues when running multiple devices. While I understand this can be expected I don't expect it to this extent when not using that much and never had the issue before with the 54g. Are there settings that can be changed to improve this?
My setup is Mediacom 20/1.5 with a Motorola SB6120 modem. WRT610n router with a hard wired desktop (usually off and not used), a wireless n notebook wireless (also usually off) as my main use is for XBox 360. 1 wireless n with the new n adapter from microsoft and 1 wireless g with the old white adapter from microsoft. Usually only one is connected at once but sometimes my son will be on the other at the same time. I usually have no isse even still with the 2 (and never did before) but if any other pc is turned on or my Zune HD which connects also if I go on the marketplace seems to slow my setup down. As said before this was never an issue on the old setup but seems to be a problem now. Can I change any settings to stop this problem?

You might be facing the problem because the wireless settings set on your Router to its default settings, So you need to change certain settings on your Router, and that would improve the signal and speed quality on your wireless computers..
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Wireless sync with multiple devices? + related q

Does anyone know what happens if you have multiple devices (with different content - but using the same library) set up on automatic wireless sync? My husband has successfully set up his iPhone to sync, but I'm nervous of doing the same for my iPad in case it causes some kind of conflict if they're both trying to sync at the same time.
I've searched and couldn't find anything about this.
Also does anyone know what happens if you shut down iTunes/the PC while a device is syncing in this way? My husband often plugs his iPhone into his alarm clock to charge while I'm still working on the PC, so it's doing the auto sync when he does that. If I don't notice and shut down the PC before it's finished, will that cause a problem?
    Cheers

Thank you a lot Jolly Giant, and I have manual sync.
It seems that there is no way to keep an older version of the same app. Is this correct? I never directly replaced older version with newer version, but I suppose it did so when I did "transfer purchases" from iPad. Then it synced the app on older iPod, and it's not really like I have a choice: if I check its name, it syncs and I have the newer version which does not work. If I uncheck, it removes it from the device altogether.
Does not iTunes realize that I have two devices? Both are registered, etc. etc. can it not keep track of minimal system requirements? In fact it appears it's worse than this, older version are totally not allowed, even if someone has by chance the older file, iTunes will not allow.
And it is not like I have a legacy device, this iPod, even though it can not even run the latest iOS (that is, Apple dropped support after 4.2.1 on Nov 22, 2010), was sold new, and not for a cheap price, not so long ago.... btw branded as "third generation" (not everyone is familiar with hardware specs and technical sheets).
The problem will worsen the day my iPad will eventually abandon 4.2.1 in favor of a newer iOS and sure enough there will be newer versions of apps that no longer support 4.2.1 and which so far, I don't download, but in the future I will want to download for the newer device.
Thank you a lot Jolly Giant for your help and thank you to anyone who will help.

  • Solved. Travel router WTR54GS sharing one wireless hotspot connection with multiple devices

Hi, Passing on info I've learned.
The manual for the WTR54GS mentions being able to "...use multiple devices on a single hotspot account in a coffee shop or airport lounge...". See my original posting, "How to set up a wireless private bubble at paid hotspot? WTR54GS?", which ended in a dead end. I subsequently had a Linksys live chat session and the representative provided the solution. Perhaps worthy to be included in the Wireless FAQ?
Situation: you have access to a paid hotspot (hotel room, meeting room, etc.) and you want to share the connection with several devices, also wirelessly.
Solution: the WTR54GS can accept an incoming Internet connection wirelessely and re-broadcast that connection to form your own private bubble or network. (Note the WTR54GS can also accept an incoming Internet connection via Ethernet cable).
Linksys Live Chat pointed me to these web pages.
Go to the Linksys Easy Answers page: For a schematic of the concept of "associating the travel router to a hotspot (wirelessly)" search for Easy Answer ID# 4831
    URL for above is http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4831&p_created=1167963305&p_sid=GmLnq3Zi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NjImcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0xNzIxLDE3MjMmcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0yLjE3MjMmcF9zY2ZfbGFuZz0xJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9V1RSNTRHUw**&p_li=&p_topview=1
There is a "configuration simulator" that shows the options for selecting a wired or wireless incoming Internet Type.
    http://linksys.com/ui/files/WTR54GS/1.0_15/Setup-Wireless.htm
The hotspot has to be "open", that is transmitting an SSID and with no WEP or WPA key. It may have a log-in page accessible via a web browser, this is okay as this will be passed onto the connected device.
My personal application is to be able to connect a PDA that has a 801.2b wifi to a 801.2g wireless network. I haven't tried it but if this works, it will extend the useful life of my PDA in a "g" environment. Will report back once I find a "g" only environment. Comments?

Dang, the long URL is making for a really wide message. Is there a fix?

There are two conditions which must be met in order to use your WTR54GS to "extend" an incoming, wireless internet connection:
    The incoming connection must be unsecured.  You have already covered this point;
The security settings on your WTR54GS can only be set to "WEP," or to "Disabled."  If you choose "WEP," then you can use either a 40/64-bit, or a 128-bit key.
If those two conditions have been met, then it works fine -- says the guy who is sharing one paid internet conneciton in his hotel amongst three devices, and with co-workers in nearby rooms.

  • Why can't I use Creative Cloud on multiple devices?

I wasn't told there was a limit on the number of devices I could use for Creative Cloud when I bought my subscription, and I need it to work on 7 computers. Is there a way I can expand my subscription?

My understanding is that you can use the Cloud on any device you want but only one at a time. Just as you can install the Creative Collections on as many computers as you wish but it can only be activated on two at a time but which is not really true since you can only use one of them at a time anyway.
I think the wording about this should change.
For insance I travel and may or may not wish to lug a laptop with me. It is my understanding that I can when raveling log into the CC download m apps and use them on any computer capable of running the apps and work away, But since I am logged in at a different location on a different device it will only work on that device.
And this is the way it shoulkd work because say you travel and your laptop is lost or stolen then you should be able to still use your apps and also stop them from working on the lost computer by logging in somewhere else.
This is the way Iunderstand the advantages of the Cloud. It is designed to be flexible and not inhibiting.
Now on the other had if I ahsd an assistant that I want to use these apps then it makes sense to purchase a license for them as well.
It is one license for one user as it should be but that user can access it where ever they need it.
    That is my understanding.

  • Using Creative Cloud across multiple devices? (individual use)

When signing up to Creative Cloud, how many devices does this allow for personal desktop use? I'm wanting the software for both my laptop and iMac (Plans for Individuals / Existing CS Customer / Complete at £27.34 a month).

    Found it:
You can install and activate CC desktop applications on two computers, regardless of operating systems, for the individual associated with the CC membership...

  • SmartWatch 2 - Is pairing with multiple devices possible?

I am wondering if and how I can pair my SmartWatch 2 with multiple Android devices. I mean not at the same time, but I want to use the SmartWatch with my smartphone OR with my tablet.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To make another paring you need to reset the SW2 from Settings -> Reset SmartWatch and then pair it using NFC or search for it using bluetooth. Depending on your phone/tablet you may have to remove the pairing there as well.
