I compacted my outlook express and lost a years worth of sent email, how do I get it back?

In addition, I can not open photo attachments anymore, you have do scroll down and they are in the email. This is all new and not sure what is going on.

iPhones do not have hard drives, they use flash memory.
If the device has been used as designed then the pictures taken with the device would be regularly copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
For what reason would anyone attempt an update without first ensuring that their data was safe and backed up?
Sorry, but this is on the user if they are gone.

You have the files on your computer? If so, then just get them back into iTunes and sync them back onto your iPad. You can use the books part of iTUnes, or if you reader app has a data transfer option, use that to sync them back onto your device.

I work on a Dell with Windows XP and Firefox 5, and when I send out an email and try to type a link in the body of the email the link does not open up for the addressee, and I highlight the link and then bold it, and the go to the little chain link symbol and clink on it and no matter how I fill out the boxes it will still not open when they get the email. Identity Safe is a part of Norton and it keeps your login info safe. There was a little icon in the toolbar of the last version of FF and it's gone now.
I'm not sure if this Norton piece considered a plugin or extension but I use it throughout the day.

The help info, HT4901, was the closest info from the Help pages but it assumed we were already on icloud and had simply disconnected our calendar from icloud. Actually, we were simply trying to synch our devices by signing up with icloud for the first time, so it seems our calendar never had a chance to get uploaded. In any case, how do you reconnect / re-access a calendar on icloud?

If your calendar does not appear on icloud.com it never uploaded to iCloud. If it is no longer on your computer you would have to restore it from a backup source such as Time Machine to restore it.

Did you fail to import your photos before updating? If so, then they are likely gone. You can try restoring from backup. If that fails then they are gone. You should regularly import photos to your computer, most especially before any update.
Did you fail to transfer any purchases on iphone ( that were not on your computer) to your computer before updating? If so, then you will have to redownload:

I presume you deleted the original files as match would not have done so. Do you have a back up. If so, restore your music from that. If not, your will have lost all your music as this needed to be on your hard drive when you unsubscribed.
