I connected my BookPro to my HDTV but I have sound only on my computer
I connected my BookPro to my HDTV using an HDMI cable, I have video but I do not have audio. What could I do to transfer the audio from my computer to my tv?

The first place I would check is in System Preferences > Sounds and check the output for your MacBook Pro and select it to your TV.

Connect phone to computer.
Select Restore.
Tell iTunes which of the available backup files to use, let iTunes restore it.

My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps. How can I correct this?
If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I have a HP Pavillion all-in-one with AMD processor running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Flash Player 16.0.0.235 with all current drivers. I'm consistantly experiencing a green sceen on all Flash Player videos but I have sound.

.AVI file has white screen but does have sound...
I have an .AVI file someone sent me which by using QT Pro shows just a white screen but does have audio.
I have Perian installed and it didn't help with the white screen. I have opened it fine in VLC player, and a couple of other media players but my issue is that I want to import the AVI file into iMovie so I can make it into a DVD. However, if I import it into iMovie, it will be the same white screen with audio.
I have searched the web far and wide to find a solution and most are saying it could be only viewable in QT on a PC of all things.
Is there any components out there which will help me with this problem? Any other suggestions?

RBBut when I selected the problematic AVI file it too appeared with a white screen w/sound in MPEG Streamclip. So I realized it wouldn't help me either.
A white screen usually means the selected video codec is not compatible with the actual file. Normally, I would run a conflict test. Based on your previous posts regarding the compression formats in use and the video codec attempting to perform video playback, my first guess would be that the Perian component is trying to decode a DivX (possibly v5) file. I would probably either temporarily remove the Perian component and see if the AVI file plays or remove and then replace the DivX component (if the latest one is already installed) and see if this changes the component access order so DivX is called for video playback. If you have an older DivX component installed, there may be a conflict issue. (Remember to close QT while removing/replacing components so the list will be re-initialized before making a playback test.) If all else fails, try posting a sample file so we can see if the problem can be duplicated on other systems/configurations. -
No sound using internal speakers, but I have sound using headphones
I just finished installing archlinux with GNOME3 on a laptop, everything were perfect until I detected a problem: I only have sound using headphones, the internal speakers of the computer doesn't work. I followed the official wiki step by step and I never had this problem using other linux distributions.
Any idea?I'm having the very same issue. Each time I boot computer I have to unmute the speaker in order to have sound. Only the headphones are unmuted by default. From what I understand alsa-store and alsa-restore are supposed to run automatically on boot and shutdown only (normally they appear in inactive/dead state).
I have tried to run 'alsactl store', but this won't help.
The whole thing start happening only recently (late December). I have arch on this laptop for over 3 years and it was fine as far as I remember.
EDIT:
I have just found that this issue is due to pulseaudio 2.1 -> 3.0 upgrade. After downgrading to 2.1 it works as expected.

Maybe you will find that useful, a temporary "fix". I have added to startup applications (in my case in gnome-session-properties):
amixer -c 0 sset Speaker Playback 95%
which just simply sets the speaker volume to 95% each time I log in.

I need Firefox 3.5 but already have 5.o on my computer. how can I get 3.5 and will that mess up 5.0?
I am trying to upload a student recommendation through an online service and they are not compatible with FireFox 5.0. 3.5 is the latest one they can use. They told me to go download it but I don't know where to get it, and since I have 5.0 on my computer will downloading 3.5 even be possible?
Support for Firefox 3.5 version has ended. Change your bank. Any bank that doesn't support a newer browser version shouldn't be trusted, especially when they don't support a browser that was released a whole year and a half ago - like Firefox 3.6.

Connecting Macbook Pro to Emerson HDTV.... sound?
I just recieved an Emerson HDTV and am trying to connect it to my Macbook Pro. By using an HDMI2 cable, I have picture. But, I cannot get the sound. I have plugged in an audio cable (don't know the name of it but it is the type that fits into the audio out jack and has the red and white connectors to the tv) but there is no sound. When I can "sound output" in my preferences, it is not seeing the audio out. Is there a specific setting I need? Or does the Macbook Pro require a specific cable? Thanks.
Check your MBP to make sure you have a miniDisplayPort and not a miniDVI port.
If it truly is a miniDisplayPort then monoprice has a miniDisplayPort-->HDMI cable and you don't actually need an adapter. Save yourself some $$.
For audio, you will need a stereo audio cable with 1/8" stereo male plug on one end (for your MBP) - the other end depends on what audio input your Sanyo has ... typically it's 2xRCA connectors (Right=Red, Left=White).
ps. you don't really need a 1.3a cable for this setup, you could save yourself some $$ with a 1.2 cable. I'd also suggest a longer cable ... 3' is pretty short. -
New 4s connected to my Lexus bluetooth. Having intermittent problem with calls. I can hear them, but they can't hear me. Never a problem with 3gs phone. Anyone else having this problem?
I ended up getting a new phone, straight through Apple. I called their technical support and went through all he basics again and they decided to replace it. Was a pretty quick process - after defaulting and resetting the whole phone (about 2 hours), I called them back to inform that there was no change, so they set up the order.
I had to give my CC# so they could hold a charge on it (in case I didn't send my old phone bach, which they sent me a pre-posted package to send it in anyway). Had a brand new iPhone 4S in my hands in 4 days, which was pretty decent. I had uploaded everything previously to iCloud, so setting up the new phone was a snap.
Only thing I really didn't like was they charged me almost 30 bucks for shipping or processing, or something. Not so sure that should have been my responsibility after spending so much on a brand new product, only to have to have it warrantied after, like, a month. -

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Please Help!! I can rip cd to Nano but can play files only on my computer.
Hello. I have a new iPod Nano and a new Philips compact stereo which can rip CDs directly to mp3 players. When I follow the procedure, all goes well, but when I try to replay the tracks on the iPod, they don't appear in any of the folders. Then, when I connect the iPod to my computer, the files appear and I can play them through the computer itself. I contacted Apple and they say that only music directly from iTunes is compatible. I need to know either how to convert the files to be compatible with iTunes or to get the iPod to accept these files as ripped. I hope I have used the correct terminology to describe my problem but if not, let me know and I'll try to clarify what's happening.
The Apple support person I spoke with told me to check this forum for help. She figured someone out there has been able to do this successfully. Thanks for any assistance.
HP Windows XPYou can play standard MP3s on your Nano... but you MUST use iTunes to MANAGE your music. You don't have to use any special "iTunes compatible" format. What it sounds like you did was simply drag the music files directly to your Nano... or ripped them directly to your Nano using it as an external drive. The software in the Nano will not allow you to do that. When you connect it to your computer, your computer sees it just as an external drive and will let you play the files just as you would on any external drive. You should copy the files to your iTunes library... or just let iTunes manage your music for you. You will then be able to sync your music to your Nano. Basically, you have to use iTunes to put your music on your Nano.

If you haven't already done so then you should be able to authorise your account on that computer's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option - if you are using a PC and the drop-down menus aren't showing then control-B should get them to show
e.g. (hopefully the image will show, but there is a bug on these forums affecting images)
