I connected my ipod touch to pc to sync, accepted updates, got error msg, clicked cancel and now ipod is unresponsive - black screen, tried sleep/wake

I have just connected my ipod touch to my pc to sync when itunes said there were updates.  I accepted but when they were running I got an error message saying if I continued all my data would be lost - I clicked cancel and now my ipod is completely unresponsive.  I have a black screen, it won't switch on, I tried putting it in its dock and nothing!  I tried holding wake & on button and nothing! When I connect to pc it is as if it isn't there!  Can you please help, getting very frustrated now x

- Try placing the iPod in DFU mode and then try to restore.

Connect the iPod to a charging source and then try the will not turn on topic of:

If you have a 2G iPod and did not have the iPod connected to a charging source it is likely that the battery fully drained before the erase was complete since it can take hours to do the delete.

  • My question is, how do I restore my ipod touch after getting rid of all content which it had on it and now has a full battery and usb connection and itunes?

I 'gutted' my ipod yesterday, and I am trying to restore playability and get away from the usb connection with itunes!!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi,
No.  You do not need Wi-fi to sync music to or play music on your iPod.  Try resetting your iPod:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430.
    Hope this helps!

  • IPod Touch suddenly won't sync after updating app

I installed an update for an app and now my ipod touch won't sync. The mac doesn't see it and it doesn't even charge when hooked up. It charges fine with the same cable on a wall charger. My son's ipod is fine, I've restarted the ipod and the mac, I've reset the ipod, i've swapped usb's and cables, no luck. I've tried holding down the lock and power buttons. Its a 32 gig model, SW version 3.1.3. Can I uninstall an app? I suspect its tic tac toe free causing the problem

    Welcome to the discussions,
you can delete the app on your ipod by touching the icon until it starts to shake, then hit the little cross to delete it.
Did you try to connect in recovery mode to see if it is recognized by your mac? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • I bought an iPod touch 4G on eBay, it worked ok for about 24 hrs, then started to constantly go to black screen and I had to reset it all the time.  I googled and it seemed like restoring it through iTunes would possibley help.

Well, the restore won't work and I've tried all the trouble shooting steps (turn off 3rd party sercurity, tried 3 cords, all the usb ports on 2 different computers, iTunes and windows (vista) are completly up to date).  The iPod is now stuck in recovery mode.  iTunes does recognize it, but won't restore.  I've contacted the person I bought it from and he seems willing to take it back - but I don't know if in recovery mode - if all my info is off the iPod?  So my question is two fold, if I return it is my personal info safe or does anyone have any further ideas about how to restore it?  I keep reading about Tiny Umbrella, but that seems to me that that would be jailbreaking it (the seller said it was not jailbroken) and I don't want to do that in case I need to return it to the seller.
    Thanks!

What happens when you try to restore the iPod? Error message?

  • I downloaded the latest itunes, now my 2nd gen ipod touch hangs up during sync process at backing up. Am I just out of luck? I've tried the uninstall/reinstall several times.  Thanks.

I understand it's "obsolete", so do I have any hope of continuing to use it or will I be forced to buy a later model?

Try running 'CMD' as Administrator    (CMD will get you to a DOS prompt)
Then type in  -->   Netsh Winsock Reset
Then reboot your computer and then try syncing...  this worked for me last night.

After the installation of 1.1.1 I can still hear calls through the earspeaker, the speaker my headset and my BlueTooth headset.
Additionally my iPod functions through the speaker and my headset just perfectly.
If you continue to restore your iPhone and you in fact are having the problems that you suggest you have after the 1.1.1 update I would either go to the nearest Apple Store or call AppleCare immediatley.

  • Why is my ipod touch unresponsive (black screen)

i have a ipod touch 1 generation 2.2.1 and it just stoped and now it has a black screen and is unresponsive no battery sign telling me to charge or any thing just a black screen i have it on the charger now can you help me

The Genius Bar was no help and told me my iPod was dead. Fortunately I have a friend who has the magic touch with Mac products and he was able to fix my iPod thus:
    1. Hold down the Power and the Home button simultaneously.
    2. When/If the Apple comes back let go of the Power button but continue to hold down the Home button.
    3. iPod is aliiiiiiive!
We also to the extra, precautionary step of reinstalling the latest OS and not restoring from back up. I had to reinstall my apps and then set them back up, however my iPod is now running as quickly as it did when I first purchased it. (It had been running slower and slower with every OS update until it would take several seconds for the keyboard to even come up, let alone accept entry.)
    Best of luck!

Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store.  Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.
