MSN is my homepage, I am using hotmail for my e-mail...this error message above comes up about every 2 e-mails, no matter if I'm reading, deleting, sending, moving e-mails....about every 2nd e-mail I have to refresh my browser. I also use Firefox for my Comcast e-mail and NEVER get this error message.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that I could recommend when receiving error -50.
"Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:  ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\

A broken Windows Modules Installer then. It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:

Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:

If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time?

If the Mac OS is installed on the external drive, then it's possible to start up from it, just as you do from your internal drive. Please open the Startup Disk preference pane in System Preferences, and verify that your internal drive is selected as the startup disk.
Assuming that's the case, then it may be that your TM settings have been corrupted. Turn off TM, then move or delete the file /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist. Turn TM back on, recreate your settings, and try again.

I've done a search on here and haven't found any solutions posted for it for windows computers. You could try posting in the iTunes For Windows forum and see if you get any suggestions in there (are you able to download other items from the store e.g. a free app ?) - I use a Mac, the only things that I could think of to suggest trying is see if you get the same error on a different iTunes library :
creating and/or opening a different iTunes library : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
or using a different user account on your computer in case it's a problem with that user account.
But you may want to try the iTunes For Windows forum first, apart from anything else you are likely to get better help for the above

Is this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore. I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere? Set the permissions for Everyone in the folder in which CCPackager created, to "Read/Write" enabled. This is strange since there is only an administrator account on the Mac (and that account already has read/write), but it seems to resolve the issue.
