I continue to have difficulties with Windows 8.1 and iTunes.

I continue to have difficulties getting iTunes to recognize an iPhone 5S or iPad following an upgrade to Windows 8.1... (which was the first mistake).  This seems to all revolve around the driver, USBAPPL64.   I have uninstalled, and re-installed, iTunes and all the other Apple products several times.   I have tried extracting USBAPPL64 from the iTunes 64 bit installer but anytime this seemed to work the file was "corrupt".   Was wondering if there was somewhere USBAPPL64 could be downloaded directly?
Tks.

Well the quest continues - found the necessary driver so that is loaded and the USB port is now properly identified when the iPhone is connected.  Do get the message, "trust this computer" on the iphone and it does show up on the computer device list, but not in iTunes.   On the other hand, iTunes now shows an error saying Apple Device Services cannot be started.  Also now, after several un-installs of iTunes and the Apple components, the Apply Mobile Device Services cannot be removed using "uninstall" from the Windows Control Panel.....the plot sickens....
So the next task is to get AMDS uninstalled and then start the whole iTunes install process again from scratch.....frustrating, to say the least, but I am learning the ins and outs of how Apple and Windows 8.1 interact.
Interesting that neither Apple nor Microsoft have much to say about this.   Personally I think Microsoft should take the lead on this since clearly something changed between Windows 8 and 8.1 to cause the grief that everyone is experiencing.

Quit the game and restart the iPad.
To quit the game - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Problem with Windows 8.1 and iTunes 11.4

I am currently running Windows 8.1 on my computer.  Before I had iTunes 11.3 (something) installed on my computer and it was working relatively well.  Every time I tried to update it, however, the 11.4 update would fail to work.  That was fine until iTunes stopped syncing new songs to my iPod.  In an effort to fix it, I have tried multiple things.  I deleted all temp files and followed those procedures when I first removed iTunes.  I have managed to reinstall my previous version of iTunes which takes me back to 11.0.2.26, but now my iPod (5th gen. touch) is unable to sync with this version as it tells me that I need to be running 11.1 or higher.
However, every time I've tried to install the lastest version (64-bit or otherwise), Windows tells me first that it does not recognize the publisher, but when I proceed anyway, it tells me that "this app can't run on your PC."  I have tried multiple fixes for this as well, including troubleshooting the compability and setting it to Windows 7 and running the setup under "run as administrator."  Nothing is working and I'd just like to be able to get iTunes 11.4 to work. |:

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Windows 8.1 and iTunes 11.1.4.62 iPhone Backup Lost

I synced my iPhone 4 yesterday, then reset it to factory settings. I have done this several times, and everytime I am able to restore my iPhone from backup. However, that was on Windows 7 and earlier iTunes versions. This time, with Windows 8.1 and iTunes 11.1.4.62, I wasn't able to restore from backup. It does not show my phone's name when I click Restore Backup, and I can't find the previous backup anywhere on my hard drive. Please help!

I have PC with Windows XP. I wish to buy a book but it says I need iOS with a specific version of iBooks to open the file. How can I open the product without using an Apple product?

What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:
                     GarageBand 6.0.5
GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system.  But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio.  Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

  • Error -54 with windows 8.1 and iOS 7.1.2

I tried adding two albums to my iTouch 5 with windows 8.1 and recently updated my iTouch's OS to version 7.1.2. I keep getting the error -54, saying it couldn't be synced but it still keeps sycing and comes up a lot. I tried restoring my iTouch and restarting my laptop, can anyone help?

That's weird. Here it is in full.
It may be too late for you to try what I did, but by the looks of it, it will be viewed many times going forward.
I noticed I was having the problem with songs that had been in WMA format but converted by iTunes. From what I read, this error is actually about permission issues for the files. I tried changing the permissions on the directory and cascade them to each file, but that didn't work. Reading more, one user got around the problem by zipping the problem files and use the files from the zip to sync. That worked for them. I tried that and it didn't work. Then I just figured there is some residual setting either on the iPad or in iTunes that was still hosing me.
I'd gotten pretty annoyed by this time so I figured I have to start with a clean slate. I reset the iPad to factory condition. I then went to windows restore and selected the restore point prior to installing iTunes. I then went thru the painful process of setting everything up again. Once I was installed and let the music be added to iTunes, I went thru and "unchecked" everything I didn't care if it went to the iPad. That was frustrating since I didn't actually have any check boxes showing. Since I was going to exclude whole albums, I did a right click on one in iTunes and there was an option in the context menu to uncheck the box. I did this for all the unwanted albums At this point, I connected the iPad and it was recognized. I went to the page to set up the syncing options. I tried to do it manually, but that was going to be a huge pain so I did the automatic sync and check the box to NOT sync unchecked items.
Finally, it started to work. I still got about 15 of the error -54 messages. I just clicked it away and the syncing continued.Since I had nearly 2000 songs transfer, I don't know which caused the error but I now have music on my iPad.
It's a lot of work, but I finally got the results I wanted. Hope this helps.

  • Lync Server 2010 conference not working with Windows 8.1 and IE 10

    Hello,
The problem is that whenever a Windows 8.1 user tries to join a Lync server 2010 conference using Internet Explorer 10 (or 11, tried that too) the user can't join the conference. If the conference is created by a Lync server 2013 user joining works fine.
When using Lync 2010 client we get the following error in the client: "error id 87 source id 7".
When using Lync 2013 client we end up with a blank conversation window.
There are no traces in server log, client log or event log.
Below is a set of use cases that may help you to understand what is the problem scenario. Each of these works or does not work with both Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 client.
    - Lync server 2010 conference, windows 7, Chrome, Firefox, IE 10 or 11 --> Works.
    - Lync server 2010 conference, windows 8.1, IE 10 or 11 --> Does not work.
    - Lync server 2010 conference, windows 8.1, Chrome or Firefox --> Works.
    - Lync server 2013 conference, windows 8.1, Chrome, Firefox, IE 10 or 11 --> Works.
It does not help to add the meet address to IE compatibility list (Compatibility View Settings).
If i press F12 in IE and change the document mode of the meet page to IE 9 version then i can join meetings with Windows 8.1 and IE 10. Unfortunately i cannot make that as a default setting for the meet website.
Any ideas on how to get Lync server 2010 meetings working with Windows 8.1 and IE 10 or 11?
IE is the company default browser. Windows 8.1 is not a default operating system but we have increasing number of Windows 8.1 computers in our environment (mainly directors).

According to your description, it is hard to tell whether the issue is related with IE or Lync Server 2010 or both.
Compare the log when Lync client on Window 8.1 with IE 10 or IE 11 join Lync server 2010 conferencing and Lync Server 2013 conferencing.
