My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules. You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.

Do you have Time Machine enabled. If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder. Then restore.

I can't get Firefox to send either photos out of Picasa or "send a
link" using my Yahoo!Mail option. Have set Yahoo as my default

me to my inbox. How can I get a blank email form to come up?Typing in additional text seems to get the job done. This seems to be a feature of the latest IOS update, I have never had the problem before the last update.
I use the box with the arrow just to the left of the URL block at the top of the page to send myself links to pages of interest. Adding the extra text seems like a pointless step, but it does work.

Itunes couldn't copy the file because it couldn't be converted
When I choose convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps in iTunes it only copies the songs it wants to. Is there going to be an update to address this?
Place the iPod in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

JohnDouble clicking on it should unzip the file, often resulting in a file in a folder or a file alone. If the file was purchased as FLAC then the file should end in .flac (if you have display extensions turned on). FLAC is a common format but it is poorly implemented on Macs, and Apple is obstinate about supporting it, preferring their own Apple Lossless format. iTunes won't play it and I don't think Quicktime will either. Many other applications will but it is inconvenient for everyday use. The easiest thing to do is to use a converter such as Max or XLD (both free) to convert the file to Apple Lossless (if you desire full-quality comparable to the FLAC format), or to AAC (typical of a file purchased from the iTunes Store). Both can be readily played in iTunes.

About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:

If ALL your music is on the iPod and it's ALL iTunes purchased content, you log into iTunes with your account on th enew machine and reverse sycn the music back.

Recovery options:
A: If Windows isn't booting:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.

burn a ISO of Ubuntu 10.10 or PartedMagic to a cd-r with ImgBurn or Win 7 right click and burn
You can use Disk Utility in OS X to select the ISO and burn to cd/dvd as well.
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.

Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB (or CD) as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB/CD and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL. (Parted Magic loads into RAM and ejects CD)
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
(If using Parted Magic double click on the Mount Drive left icon twice, use the two GUI windows to transfer files to external drive, unmount drives, log out/quit in the lower left corner menu option)
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data. Undelete software works by reading the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, not what the OS says.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted, or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
You can also install undelete type software on a new machine and USE STEP B above to "undelete" the files and recover them directly to the new computer.
You can't install undelete software or recover files to the same drive your attempting to recover from or it overwrites the deleted data.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at platter dissection recovery, then your finished
If the data on the drive was encrypted, data recovery efforts may be futile, unless it's a encypted file and you transfer it successfuly and have the password to de-crypt it.
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
(Once you log into your iTunes account, you can sync ONLY iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice)
Third party software can recover just about all the items on a iDevice, regardless of it's origin. (can't recommend such software here)
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
Get help from someone who has done this sort of thing repeatly and can almost guaranty 100% results.
There is Linux software that can "rip" all data off a iOS device if that level of attention is needed, seek a professional service.
Hope this helps in your data recovery efforts.

I ended up doing just as you said and downloading the program seperately. However, I'd like to point out that after I downloaded the server.app to my MBA it did allow me to compress it. For some reason it wouldn't let me do it from the server so I could airdrop it over. I'd only get the error previously mentioned. Must be a server thing eh?

I've signed up for a subscription to acrobat pro and successfully download 2 days ago. Now when I try to open pdf it asks if I want to sign up again and will not allow me to open the document. Can anyone give me assistance?

It sounds to me like you're trying to open a PDF via one of the Acrobat online services, not via Acrobat. Did you install the file that you downloaded after you signed up? Once you do, Acrobat will be installed on your computer, and you can run it locally (you don't access an Acrobat Pro subscription via the web--it works just like a version of Acrobat that you might purchase from the Adobe Store, or a large retailer).
Then, you'll open the Acrobat application from your desktop and choose File > Open to open your PDF file.

In Textedit, how do I copy a hyperlink url, but only copy the link location and not the link text?
Suppose I have a list of hyperlinked internet URL's. I want to extract their Internet addresses -- the link locations -- which are essentially hidden in the link text. Is there any way to select and copy the list of hyperlinks, but only copy the link locations, and not the link text?
For example, with the links:

What I really want to copy are: "http://www.whitehouse.gov/", "http://www.google.com/", and "https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2737556".I figured out how to do it. First, copy the hyperlinks onto a blank RTF document in TextEdit and save the file.
Second, open the file from within TextEdit, and make sure that the box "Ignore rich text commands" is checked in the open file dialog box. In the open document, the hyperlinks from my example in my first post will look like this:

Third, use the Automator function, "Get URLs From Text," to create a service, which I called "Get URLs From Text," that receives text from any window, gets the URLs, and copies the result to the clipboard:

The output is exactly what I wanted, the URLs -- i.e., the link locations -- of the three web pages, without the link text.
Another utility that will extract URLs is CopyPaste Pro, which has an innate ability to extract Internet addresses from either web pages or text pages. -

You can't. There is no memory card. It uses flash memory that's soldered to the logic board. If you didn't back it up, your data is gone.
