I currently have  student edition CS5

I want to upgrade my computer to  windows 8, will my illustrator still work.  If not I may go for a mac do i then need a new licence anyway?

Yes, going Mac will require an upgrade to switch the platform. Otherwise what I wrote 3 days ago holds:

  • Upgrading student edition (CS5)

How do we as North American students who own the student edition of CS4 software upgrade to the CS5 student editions?

    Hey PlasmaSky,
I do some work with Adobe and just wanted to let you know that Adobe does offer upgrades for new product releases but the price to upgrade is often higher than if you were to just buy the new version at the Student and Teacher Editions discounted price.  So if you're a student or teacher and still meet all of the necessary eligibility requirements, it's cheaper to get the new version at up to 80% off rather than paying the cost of the commercial upgrade.

  • Currently have student/teacher edition

Only use Ps and LR. Can I downgrade to the current offer without uninstalling current versions?

The licensing of S&T versions is completely independent of the commercial packages. There would be no such thing as a downgrade, sidegrade or whatever. You would simply sign up for the Photography program as if nothing else ever happened. Technically a simply sign-out and signing-in again should do the trick, though most liekly you will need to create a separate Adobe ID or contact support or else overlap between you licneses may cause activation mishap.

Always has been possible upgrade an STE version via a regular commercial upgrade.

  • Can I have Masetr Suite CS5 and CS6 on Same PC ?

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for this post... wasn't sure where to post it.
I currently have Master Suite CS5 on my PC (windows 7)  Can I install Master Suite CS6 and try it out on the same PC? Will there be any problems if I decide to keep both and use them one the same PC? (running only one version at a time of course)  Any potential conflicts?
What about Lightroom4 and 3rd paerty pluggins (Nik software etc)?
    Thanks for any advice/input....

Yes, spearate versions, separate installs. You can have them both at the same time. just be aware that file associations will automatically point to the latest version. plug-ins will have to be updated. Even attempting to use some CS5 plug-ins in CS6 is ill-advised. LR4 is a separate program and has nothing to do with any of this, so its plug-ins will not have any influence.

Can I purchase the upgrade for CS5 to put it on my new Mac computer? Or do I have to buy it new since it's the student edition?

There are no upgrades for student editions. You simply buy a fresh license at the discounted price.

  • I have the Cs5 student Edition of Adobe Web and design, do I have to upgrade to a full?

I'm close to graduating and I plan on getting CS6 before I graduate so I can get a student discount, but will I have to upgrade to a full verson of the sofeware once I gradate? If so how much is that going to cost? Will I be able to use the CS6 student for commercal use so I can work at a job/office? Can you please tell me? I really need to know this!

You can continue to use your Student Edition after your graduation for any legal purpose. As a student you can purchase a new version of CS 6 Student programs. There is no upgrade from one student edition to another. You can of course, upgrade a student version to a non-student version, but the cost for doing so is ussually much more expensive than a new student version, so take advantage of your student status while you can.

  • Upgrading from student editions to CS5 ?

    Hi,
I currently have a student edition of Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, and Illustrator 10. I would like to upgrade these to the Adobe CS5 professional versions, but I am not sure if I can since they are so old. Or can I upgrade these to the Adobe CS5 Design package?
    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, that won't work. All MX versions (student, full retail etc) are too old to qualify for an upgrade.
Adobe has a "3-versions-back" policy for upgrading these days.
So the only versions eligible for an upgrade to CS5 are DW8, CS3 and CS4.

  • CS5 purchased 2010 teacher/student edition lost serial number as computer hard drive crashed

I purchased CS5 extended Teacher/Student edition in 2010 when I purchased my Macbook. Recently in 2014 My hard drive crashed and I needed to reinstall my photoshop.
During the installation It asks for the serial number. I no longer have this and it is not referenced on the box or anywhere in the packaging or on any documentation that I currently have.
I really need to reinstall but every time I try to contact adobe through chat It says it is unavailable, does anyone know how I can rectify this?
    Regards

If you registered it with Adobe, your serial number would be here

Click on the triangle next to it to see the serial number.

  • Student Edition of CS5

    Hi all
I have been eagerly waiting for the release for Photoshop CS5 before I take the plunge and buy. I am currently a mature student and will be buying the Student Edition and what I am wanting to know is in the future, when CS6 or whichever is released, at the point where I am no longer a student, will I be able to upgrade my Student Edition Photoshop to a Standard Edition at the normal upgrade cost or will I have to purchase a full copy of the standard first?
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Daniel

Hi Daniel, under the current rules you should be OK - according to the FAQ a Student Edition can be upgraded to a commercial version. http://bit.ly/byG0p6
It's unknown how or if the rules will change for CS5, so you should check back to confirm once that's out.

  • Upgrade to Adobe CC with the conditions of the "special offer" (35,69€ / year) with an old registered CS5 Students Edition?

    Hi!
I just tried to update my Adobe Creative Suite to Adobe CC. I have a registered CS5.5 Master Collection from 2012 that I bought while studying (Students Edition).
On the Adobe Website I can choose the CC as a special offer and a price o 35,69€ per year. When my Serial is checked they say that I'm not allowed to use this special offer.
Does anybody know what's the problem? Can't I use the special offer with the old serial of a student's edition?
    Thank's for your help!
    Best!!!

No.  Student licenses cannot be used per the terms and conditions...
