I'd like the scroll buttons (side and bottom) to have a different colour from that of their background

Both scroll buttons are hard to distinguish from their background (both the buttons and their background being white), and to see their contours requires too much (for my taste) concentration.

- In my Linux distributuion (Ubuntu),
System > Look And Feel > Appearance for themes
(probably) is
System Settings > Appearance > Theme ,
and this offers four possibilities:
Ambiance - Radiance - High Contrast - High Contrast Inverse .
The first two produce the same behaviour with respect to the scroll buttons in the Firefox window (that is, very hard to distinguish from their background).
The 'Contrast' versions make the scroll buttons clearly visible, but the
general appearance they produce isn't to my liking at all.
- I did download 'tango-icon-theme-common' but can't find out how
to proceed further.
Thanks all the same!
