I'd like to delete the pics on my MacBook, but keep them on my iMac
Both my iMac and my MacBook are linked via my home wifi network. When I load pictures onto iPhoto on my iMac, they also are loaded onto my MacBook, which now has limited available space on its hard drive.
I would like to do two things while maintaining both computers linking via the wifi network -
How would I eliminate the MacBook from copying the pics that I've uploaded into iPhoto on my iMac?
How can I safely delete the pics on my MacBook without simultaneously deleting the pics on my iMac?
Thanks,
Cliff
You need to provide details since we only know what you tell us
It is not possible to import photos to two different Macs at the same time - maybe you are using PhotoStream and have set the iPhoto preferences to automatically import new photos - if so simply turn that preference off and new photos added to PS will no long be imported to the system you turned Auto Import off -- you also may have auto upload new photos to PS set - if you do you may want to turn it off too
Bottom line is that each system stands on its own - deleting form one does not delete from the other
PS is a bit different since it involves a third place - iCloud - and since you can set or not set to auto import photos to the Mac - if you delete a photos form PS it is deleted for everyone viewing via PS - but that does not affect photos that are in events (once auto import imported hem to a event they are in the iPhoto library on that Mac and totally independent of PS or anything else except photo on that Mac
So best wild guess given the very limited information is to turn off auto upload on the iMac (and maybe AutoImport depending on what you want) and auto import on the MB

I have changed my icloud email in my iphone but in macbook still using old email. I tried to delete the old email in macbook but it requires password and it does not accept the old password for the old email anymore. How do I remove this old email?
Hello farahani hairon nizar,
If your Apple ID was changed from your old account, you may have to change it back to your old account to be able to sign out and then change it back after that is done. Take a look at the article below for more information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud

Is it possible to delete iwork documents off my Mac but keep them saved in iCloud?
Hello,
Is it possible to delete iwork documents off my Mac but keep them saved in iCloud?
Thanks in advanceIn Finder preferences > General, I changed New Finder windows show: from All My Files to my short login name. This reduces the confusion in presented files.
You can control where you retrieve or save iWork documents via the open and Save.../Save As... dialogs -- or with drag & drop -- be that local or iCloud. I have Pages documents in iCloud that do not reside on my local disk. I can always retrieve them from iCloud to local storage as needed. You certainly can remove a local copy of a document that you already have saved in iCloud.
The act of saving a document to iCloud does not create a duplicate (backup) copy on your local storage. -
How do I delete photos on my iPad but keep them on my iMac?
When I mark photos for deletion on my iPad, and select "delete" it asks "delete everywhere?" - YIKES I don't want that, just need more space on iPad.
Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the photo in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.
Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced - and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right. It will be at the top of the screen in the iTunes window
Deselect or uncheck all of the albums within the main photo folder (usually iPhoto on the Mac) that you sync from that you want to remove
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you want to remove all of the photos deselect or uncheck the Sync Photos from heading. -
If time machine puts all of my photos onto my external hard drive using time machine, can I then delete the photos from my computer but view them again from the external hard drive? Basically, can I free up space on my mac but not lose years of photos?
To add to Niel's comment bear in mind that if you have a backup copy on an external HD and later delete the orignals on your Mac HD you will then only have one copy - so no backup.
If the pictures are precious you should have at least two copies, and ideally another copy kept off site, -
Hi,
Can I use iCloud as photo storage rather than just backup? Right now, it just syncs the photos from my iPhone. I want to delete some photos from my phone, but keep them in the cloud.
I also want to be able to adjust the settings of certain folders in iPhoto to do different things.
I.e. I have a "work" folder in my photos app on my iphone. I want all the photos and videos in this folder to be stored in dropbox and be erased from my iPhone.
I have a "family" folder in my photos app on my iPhone. I want all the photos and videos in this folder to be stored in iCloud and erased from my iPhone.
Finally, why can't I log into iCloud from anywhere and see my photos? For example, when I go to my friend's house, I want to be able to log into iCloud from his computer and show him photos that are no longer saved on my phone, but rather stored in the cloud.
Would I be better off with dropbox, flickr, or Amazon for something like that?
Thanks!
AmyIf you have the photos on your computer a great way to test is to remove your phone from your computer and see if the photos are still on it; if they are still on your computer you are free to do so
Also when you are importing photos from the device to iPhoto you should get the option to delete after importing

I deleted a contact, but they still show up in my text options to send. I would like to delete the contact from my texts too.
No don't restore your iphone. I've done that several times & it has never worked. -I still have deleted contacts in my iphone texts. *However if you do restore it you will not lose all your data, pics, text messages etc if you backup in iCloud. It restores back to original phone. Very nice :). Anyhowwww....
I JUST figured it out!! :))). Remove the contact from recents.
Start a text. You should see the deleted contact. All the way to the right of the name is a symbol. The symbol is a circle with "i" in the middle. Click that symbol then in red lettering click "remove from recents". -

I was organizing my photos into albums. then deleting them from my Camera roll. Then I went into MY Photo Stream and started deleting the pics I had moved to albums;Come to find out I deleted all pic from everywhere!! Would the iCloud still have them saved
First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
What computer do you have? -
I currently have an old work phone that is synced to my iPad. I would like to delete the old work phone number from my iCloud without having to contact my previous employer. Is there a way to do this from my ipad and replace it with my personal iPhone?

Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5622
An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID.
How do I change my Apple ID Name or personal information?
You can change your Apple ID Name at My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes. Changes take effect immediately. You can also use My Apple ID to change your personal information, such as your mailing address or email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

how do i see what photos are stored in my icloud. I cannot do this without installing 8.0 or above which i cannot do as i do not have enough space on my iphone. I do not want to delete the pics to make enough room to install 8.0 without checking first that the pics are saved. Thanks
Good day AMELIASARAH,
One resolution to your issue would be to update your iPhone using iTunes on your computer rather than over the air. This requires much less space on the iPhone as most of the work is done by the computer. See this article for how to do it -

I made an album just now. I went back to delete the pics from my camera roll but my only option is to "delete everywhere." I want to leave them in the new album I made.. How i can delete them from camera roll without deleting from other Album i made
The way that I understand that it works, is that the photos are not copied into the new albums, instead it just points to the photos - the number of photos on the iPad in Settings > General > About doesn't increase when you create new album so I assume from that that it isn't copying the photo, just pointing to it. So if you delete the photo from the camera roll you will therefore also be deleting all the pointers to it

Unable to delete the pics from itunes, Said it will fail if i try to
I am trying to delete the pics from itunes, but i wont go through and everytime i link my iphone to pc, itunes runs so slow
1) Did you change that old email address to your current email address to be your current Apple ID? If so, try to enter your current password for your current Apple ID/iCloud account. If it doesn't work, try #2.
2) If you don't have access to your old email account. Same process, go to https://appleid.apple.com and sign in your current iCloud/Apple ID then edit it to your old email address then Save the changes. DON'T sign out yet. Go back to your iOS device then delete your iCloud account. Once deleted, go back to the Apple ID website and rename it back to your current email address. You have to verify it this time and you will be able to since you have access to that email address.
3) If your answer to #1 is NO, contact Apple Support (Account Security Team) to help you reset its password but you need to have another email address available which is not yet an Apple ID to send the password reset email.
Hope this helps! Cheers! -
