I d like to export mail folder ("on my mac") to different mac

I d like to export mail folder ("on my mac") to different mac!
In detail:
I got a MacBookPro and have a lot of important emails saved in mail under the "on my mac" folder. How do I transfer those folder and emails to my Imac? Both macs mail is working fine but if i create a new folder under "on my mac", emails on the Imac disapear and they are not in the "on my mac" folder of the Imac. Any suggestions?

You will have to buy the version that is compatible with the version of Apple OS X that you are running.

What is causing this bug & how do I fix it?

I was just playing around and it looks like it grabs emails that have the same subject text in the Subject" box. That's just crazy!

  • Mail tags don´t sync between different macs

Hi, Im running mail 5.1 and I use color tags to mark mails. I have 3 Macs and the colors tags dont sync, they sync always put all tags in red. Its like old version, tag mail sync ok, but no color. Can some help me? Thank you

Unfortunately RSS feeds do not synchronize. Hopefully Apple will add this in the future. It seems as though this would be fairly simple to include so I'm optimistic that it will eventually show up. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

  • Yosemite Mail partially launches after upgrade--two different Macs

I just upgraded my iMac and MacBook Pro to Yosemite and in both cases, now Mail only partially launches. I can access the main menus but almost all of the submenus are grey and the main message viewer and activity viewer are missing (the menu options to show them are also grey).
    Common denominators:
    • Both machines have aftermarket SSD drives (Trim Enabler is now disabled).
    • Both machines have more than one internal drive (Mail is located on the boot volume in the standard directories).
    • Both machines have the same email accounts (8-10, mostly IMAP, 2 Gmail accounts, 1 iCloud account).
    • Both machines have LOTS of email. Nearly 4GB of IMAP data and another 10GB+ of On My Mac data.
    • Both machines use the latest SpamSieve 2.9.17.
    • Both were upgraded from the latest Mavericks.
    • Both machines are having trouble using Spotlight to find apps (yes, it's selected in the Spotlight prefs).
    What I've unsuccessfully tried:
    • Reinstalling 10.10 from recovery partition
    • Safe-booting
    • Holding Shift on Mail startup
    • Removing contents of ~/Library/Mail/Bundles (was already empty)
    • Disabling all accounts in System Preferences --> Internet Accounts
    • Rebuilding Spotlight Index
    • Repairing permissions
    • Examining the console logs (nothing logged when I launch Mail)
    • Examining Activity Monitor for Mail and com/apple.MailServiceAgent (both at 0.0 CPU, no other apps draining CPU or RAM)
    Stranger behavior:
I pulled the following files from ~/Library/
         Mail
         Application Support/AddressBook/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr
         Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
         Containers/com.apple.mail
         Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
After restarting Mail, I am prompted to add an account. I go through that process and it verifies my account credentials. Then the Messages window finally appears. When I click Check Mail, it says I have entered the wrong password (quadruple-checked for accuracy) and won’t check mail. I disabled SSL to compare but the same results.
The weirdest part is that some of the menu items are still grey, most notably the Activity menu option. This is the same behavior I get when I create a new user account and try to set up the email account. Then, after five minutes or so, Mail unexpectedly quits. When I relaunch, I’m back to square one.
The crash report from that looks like:
    Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Absolute path passed into -[MFLocalAccount mailboxForRelativePath:isFilesystemPath:create:]: /Volumes/tonic/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/2011 Archive.mbox'
    abort() called
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
Most bizarre about the above message is that the file path refers to a sharepoint (“tonic”) on my other computer. I’ve imported mail from there in the past.
Not sure what else to try short of a backup, clean installation and migration. Ideas anyone?
    Thanks so much!
    -Aaron

  • Can I delete a corrupt message diretly from the In Box in the Mail folder

I received an e-mail that has an .eml attachment. Mail would not download the entire message with the attachment - although it continued trying to download once it started to load in my in box. I deleted this e-mail message from the server. Now Mail seems to be caught in a continuous loop of "Fetching new mail" The only way I can exit the program is to force quit. When I open the program again the same thing happens. When I try to move this partial e-mail to the trash or delete it, bounce it or forward it I get an "opening mailbox and synchronizing with file system" message
or the program freezes. When I try to copy this e-mail to another folder the message is "resuming interrupted append"
Is there a way to delete just a message from any of the in/out boxes?
It seems like all messaged, in/out/sent etc are all compressed together like a stuffit file but there's not way to get in and delete just a particular message. The only other way I have been able to get rid of a partially corrupted file like this is to remove the entire account or in this instance, the accounts in box, move it to another folder on the desktop, reopen Mail and let it rebuild the accounts in box, then copy and paste everything except for the corrupt file into that. There's got to be an easier way!
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

The problem I have is it will go into the trash, but then I have the same problem deleting it from the trash! Even when it looks like it's deleted and I reboot Mail, the file returns to the same spot or in the original In Box.
The problem, I think, lies in the actual corrupted file that's embedded in the in/out/trash etc file in the main Mail folder. From what I understand, Mac has fixed this problem in 10.4 and one can go and delete that particular message/file. In 10.3 land, they are all hidden. Thanks for brainstorming with me!

  • How can I copy my mail folder from my macbook to sync it to my mac air?

I have a Macbook (black) and a Macair (silver). I use the black one daily, but want to use the silver one when I travel (dead light, etc). I am struggling to figure out how to update the email folder from the black on to the silver. In the past I have used the 'migration' option, but I don't want to migrate everything...only the mail folder. I have spoken to Mac Support several times but their suggestions haven't worked. I do have a Time Capsule that both of them back up to, but as each computer can only see its own back up stuff (pretty technical, I know...sorry), I don't know how to capture the mail folder from the black one and paste it into the silver one. Does anyone know how to do this?

Type "move itunes library from mac to pc" into the google search bar.

Is there a way to get an apple mail folder exported to outlook mail folder structure?  I'm using Gmail on my IMAC and have a PC for work.  Want to share folder structure between systems.

Use following steps to import apple mail to outlook:
Choose Mailbox->Export Mailbox, or choose Export Mailbox from the Action pop-up menu
Choose a folder or create a new folder where you want to store the exported mailbox.
Outlook for Mac: Choose File->Import Mailboxes. Select the mail application you want to import messages from.
If it does not work then you should use third party apple mail to pst applications. You can easily search in Google about these applications.

  • Exporting Mail Messages and Addresses to Outlook

    Hello,
I have had to move my wife from her 12" PB to a WinTel (XP Pro) box (to be compatible with a school network and application suite). Yes, an unfortunate downgrade, but the school "encourages" it - i.e., the Mac is unspported.
She has about 1,200 emails on the Mac that I'd like to export to the dreaded Outlook. Trouble is, there doesn't appear to be any way to get the mail messages out of Mail.
Does anybody know how I could do this so that she'd have all her emails in Outlook and would be able to reply to them?
    Thanks!

Tried exporting entire folder from Mac mail, (drag folder to desktop = makes an .MBOX file). Shortened filename.MBOX but PC Outlook still refuses it.
According to Entourage Help, expor is also an .MBOX file, so no go either. But! note below in E. help:
    • If your Windows-based program cannot import messages as an MBOX-format text file, you can copy individual messages instead. To copy an individual message, save it as a SimpleText text document or an Entourage e-mail message and copy the file to the Windows-based computer. Then import the message as a text (.txt) file or an e-mail message (.eml) file, depending on the format in which you saved the message.
DRAT! Individual messages, not the entire folder. Bummer. Am searching for a workable method for whole folders, will post if I find a solution.

  • HT2500 How do you delete bulk mail folder in Mail program?

In my Mail program on my MacBook Air there is a Bulk Mail Folder usually full of annoying junk mail. How do I eliminate this folder so I don't get Bulk mail anymore?

    Hi Macmonter,
i have seen the complete post here and realised that your answer should have been selected as most useful, unfortunately Charlie7 didn't tried it and hence it was ignored. I still appreciate your experiemnt.
I am pretty new to this community thing, but i did a lot of experiments with Mail application and hence i m writing this post specifically which might be helpful to others. I use Yahoo Mail (only) for all online services like Facebook, G+, LinkedIn, Twitter etc. all possible. It's my central ID now and i cant change it any more. Going online and checking yahoo mail is sometimes very resource taking hence i decided to use mail client like Mail.app. Let me tell you that i personally tried all other mail apps including thunderbird but noticed one very imp thing that when u use Mail.app then your mails 7 their attachments are automatically indexed by Mac OS which is very important feature and when you search something then it searches within your mail also, this is really awesome. This will not happen if u use thunderbird or any other mail client. Also you get to use free Cloud with auto sync. Now this also tells you that I am stuck with 2 (idiotic) giants : Yahoo & Mac OSX Mail.
The thing is, Yahoo now uses IMAP (prior it was POP). IMAP has many advantages over POP for sure. Basically when you use multiple devices, filters and folders and want all those things in Sync. Google for more comparison, but let me tell you IMAP is really good. Now the problem is, Yahoo has powerful spam engine but it calls it 'Bulk Mail'. Apple also has powerful Spam Engine but they call it 'Junk'. So some how you have make apple understand that they are the same words, which is suggested by Mr. Macmonter which is really a great & very useful thing. If you mark 'Bulk Mail' folder as 'Use As Junk' then you are done. All messages from Bulk folder will be routed to Junk and you will see common Junk Folder.
I know there are people who dont want to see that Junk at all! And for that this is smart trick :
Configure your Yahoo as IMAP (which is default). Clear all messages from online Bulk Mail folder using browser login. Then Sync so all your online folders are downloaded if any and all your mails. Basically this is for people who has created online filters and folders (i have 12 folders)
Once your account is in Sync, disconnect. Export all your folders one by one slowly. It takes times if you have many mails and attachments. Once this is done successfully, DELETE this account!
Now create Yahoo POP account. Apple dont allow you to do this now, but there is trick. You will have to give wrong user-pass and shift to manual settings and there you can give correct server config which should be POP settings of Yahoo. And take this account online.
In online Yahoo Mail, set 'Do not download spam' under POP and Forwarders. So this will only start downloading Inbox messages. Remember POP dont see any other folders, hence we removed all filters and downloaded all folders. IT will download all mails coming to Inbox filtering Spam. So you never see spam. If you want to see some then you can go online periodically and check manually.
Now import your recently exported folders in this account and create filters and rules in Mail.app for routing of incoming messages for particular messages.
This gives you all old messages, pure inbox from yahoo, 2 way spam filter yahoo & Mac, and local routing of messages with index, smart folders and cloud! Only thing you dont get here is Sync with multiple devices if you have iMac, Air & iPhone. But there i suggest you to keep one of them as center for downloads and others should keep just 15days old copy. This will also save your resources!
    Enjoy..

  • Restoring mail messages and attachments from Library Mail folder

Can someone please tell me the best way to do the following...
I have recently performed an erase and install of Snow Leopard.
I need to restore my old mail and I have the following data...
A copy of the "Mail" folder from the "Library" folder, up-to-date as of yesterday (19/9/09). I omitted to take a copy of the "Mail Downloads" folder which I believe contains the attachments for the messages.
An older copy of the "Mail Downloads" folder, up-to-date as of 31/5/09.
I was advised by one person at Apple Care that the Mail Folder was all I needed to back-up all my mail. Then the next advisor told me I should have taken a copy of the Mail Downloads folder as well. Another advisor suggested I exported all the mailboxes manually one by one which I now wish I had done.
In any case, I am where I am and I would like to know what to do with the data I have to be able to access my past mail messages.

    Robert,
If you were to need to do this again, all you need is to restore the Mail folder and the com.apple.mail.plist file (Home/Library/Preferences). If you restore those -- replacing any that might get created, but would not if you don't first launch Mail -- then Import is not necessary and it picks up where it left off.
The Mail Downloads folder is not needed -- its contents are redundant to what is kept with the messages.

  • HT204093 Where is my mail folder on my mac

Okay I hope to make sense here....
I had all my mail in the icloud.  I then created a folder on my mac for mail older than 6 months.  Then mail that was older than 6 months in cloud I moved to my mac.
In mail I had renamed the older than 6 month folder.  I still see my old mail in mail.  I can't find the corresponding folder on mac, or when I do it really is odd size.  Mail in folder on mac is housing 10 years worth of email and coming in at 300MB when I think it would be way bigger, like 1 TB.
I created a new folder in mail, but I can't find the coorseponding folder in documents---> mail folder.
Where is the mail folder on the mac?  Where does it naturally default too?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Thank you of the quick reply and I kind of now have more info.
Since posting my question I "exported" the mailbox and voila, 2.6GB of info.  So I think I have some solution.
"Are you desiring to Archive mail older than six months and remove that from Mail?" Not from Mail, but the iCloud, but when I did remove from icloud, I want to make another back up, even though I have time machine.  I want to basically burn a DVD or put old email on other storage media.
"With a better understanding of your goal -- I can help you to a solution." Okay great, appreciate it! I hope I made/make sense.
"If you haven't done a Rebuild lately, I'd highly recommend you start there:"  Ummm  I've never rebuild.... so I also wanted to back up the data before I rebuild I think, right?  I have no other copy, these emails were removed from the iCloud, and put in a mail folder on my mac (which I can't find the mailbox (mbox) on the mac, user name--->documents---> mail folder---> there is no corresponding mbox that I just created, this folder/get info says circa 2012), so the mail on my mac is not copied from iCloud. Technically I do have the time machine backup.... but you never know if that gets corrupted.
So my thought prior to rebuild is to export, as a back up, then rebuild?  As to mailbox naming, since I have no idea where the corresponding folders are on my mac, exporting first, might be best option.  If I rebuild, will that break or possibly lose data?
    Thoughts?

  • Simple AppleScript to export Mail messages to FileMaker DB?

    Hello everyone,
I'm using a product called "Mail Archiver X" to archive messages from Apple Mail into a custom FileMaker database ("eMailViewerX" - this is the target database that comes with Mail Archiver and is required for the process), from where I copy these messages to my main message archive (another FileMaker DB).
While that process works, it is kind of clumsy (Apple Mail > Mail Archiver X > FileMaker DB #1 > FileMaker DB #2) - and it breaks every time when there is a new version of Apple Mail or OS X until "Mail Archiver X" has been updated by the developer.
So I'm looking for a more simple solution: an AppleScript that will export all messages from exactly one folder ("To Archive") in Apple Mail (4.5/Snow Leopard or 5.0/Lion) as a simple CSV or .tab file, with the following data per line:
    Message Sender*
    Message Receiver*
    Sent Date
    Sent Time
    Subject
    Body
    * Separation of name and e-mail address would be cool, but I understand this may not (always) be possible.
The only tricky part may be the conversion of carriage returns in the e-mail messages' body into the special character FileMaker expects in TAB or CSV files. In BBEdit, this is shown as \x{0B} (UTF8: 0B). So there would have to be a Find/Replace for that in the script.
This does not have to be free (although I wouldn't mind - I'd gladly pay for something that is simple and reliable.
If someone knows about such a script or is willing to write it, I would really appreciate it.
TL;DR: I want to export all messages from an Apple Mail folder to a FileMaker-readable CSV file.

You haven't fully specified the problem:
It's not clear what to do when there are multiple recipients of an email
You didn't say precisely what Filemaker fields you wanted in the file, nor what order you wanted them in, nor whether you needed a header row in the text file
That being said, what you want is a script somewhat like the following (with many things still needing to be adjusted):
    set archiveFolder to "To Archive"
    set tab_delFilePath to "Path:to:tab_del file"
    set tab_delText to {}
    tell application "Mail"
set messagesToArchive to every message of mailbox archiveFolder
              repeat with thisMessage in messagesToArchive
                        set thisEntry to {}
                        tell thisMessage
                                  set {itsSender, itsRecipients, itsDate, itsSubject, itsText} to {sender, recipients, date received, subject, content}
                                  set {senderName, senderAddress} to {extract name from sender, extract address from sender}
if senderName = senderAddress then set senderName to ""
      -- get date parts
set itsDateString to short date string of itsDate
set itsTimeString to time string of itsDate
-- there may be multiple recipients; create list
                                  set {recipientName, recipientAddress} to {{}, {}}
                                  repeat with thisRecipient in recipients
                                            tell thisRecipient
                                                      set recipientName's end to name
                                                      set recipientAddress's end to address
                                            end tell
                                  end repeat
-- convert carriage returns to linefeeds in message body; unicode 0B is ascii 11, which is linfeed
set itText to my tid(my tid(itsText, return), linefeed)
                                  set thisEntry to {senderName, senderAddress, itsDateString, itsTimeString, itsSubject, my tid(recipientName, ","), my tid(recipientAddress, ","), itsText}
                        end tell
set end of tab_delText to my tid(thisEntry, tab)
              end repeat
    end tell
    set tab_delText to tid(tab_delText, return)
set fp to open for access tab_delFilePath with write permission
    write tab_delText to fp
    close access fp
    on tid(input, delim)
-- a subroutine for handling text item delimiters
              set {oldTID, my text item delimiters} to {my text item delimiters, delim}
if class of input is list then
set output to input as text
              else
set output to text items of input
              end if
set my text item delimiters to oldTID
              return output
    end tid
it's a place to start, anyway.
If you want to dangle money in front of my eyes, send me an email and I'll get it set up properly on your system (including automating the process and importing the data directly into your filemaker database).

  • How to rename an Outlook mail folder with Automator.

    Hello,
I would like to use a Service from Automator to rename a mail folder in Outlook. The folder names are "<first name> <last name>". And they need to be renamed as "<last name>, <first name>". E.g. "John Doe" becomes "Doe, John".
    In Outlook that would be:
Right click on the folder name.
From the drop down menu, select "Rename".
Jump to the end of the folder name [option] [right arrow].
Select the last name: [shift] [option] [left arrow].
    Cut the name: [command] [x].
    Delete the space: [delete].
Go to the beginning of the name: [option] [left].
Insert the last name: [command] [v]
Insert a comma and a space: [,] [space].
    Finish the rename: [return].
    In Automator:
    Create a new Service.
    Insert "Get Selected Outlook Items".
    Record the steps above.
    Click Run.
The results of thelast step is: "Watch Me Do failed - 1 error. Application Outlook is not running when it is expected to".
Outlook is running and a folder is selected.
Anybody any idea what I do wrong?
