I'd like to hack my ichat av

So long story short, I'm pretty good with computers but for the life of me I cannot get a downloaded chat client to work reliably. It *****. If it's not the ports being calibrated it's the video settings or it's growl or it's an inability to import contacts or whatever, there are a thousand things, and no matter what I try no chat client be it aim, yahoo or msn or whatever works well with this os. Nothing works as well as it should. Question(s): is there a way to integrate aim, yahoo, bonjour and maybe other chat clients into ichat, which is the only reliable client that works with my isight? I mean, I've googled, I know it's not "supported", but is there a hack I can use or a script I could run? And if not, is there any chat client you could recommend? I haven't tried skype yet that's the next step, can anyone tell me about it? does that run reliably with the 10.4.11 platform? I'm sick of using web-based chat clients; they're even more unreliable than downloaded. HALP!!

Hi,
Welcome to the    Discussions
It Depends on what you mean by Integrated and how much integration you expect.
Check the three links in the left hand (Jabber) column.
http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page5.html#_jabber
Basically Text can be made to work but the different codecs for Audio and Video make those impossible.
Also look at the various items in the Other Applications link in the About this Page section on the right.

  • Would like to get iSight, iChat and Universal Access to work together

Problem: family member with age-related macular degeneration, form not presently curable. Avid reader, feels isolated unable to do so. Due to age and related problems he's very confused trying to use Universal Access (UA) on ANY size Mac screen, situation in which I suspect he's far from being alone; I also find UA extremely cumbersome and almost unworkable.
Proposed solution: would like to procure him a second, external iSight camera, mount it on a (powerful) light stand next to a 20" iMac, have that contraption positioned over various paper documents which I propose to then magnify and display on the Mac.
iChat, unlike PhotoBooth, does not have the ability to flip images and thus render text readable. Also, zoom on iChat inadequate. PhotoBooth use (taking images, flipping, etc) very cumbersome; also, cannot seem to be able to zoom.
Dedicated CCTV units on the market accomplishing simple video magnification seem outrageously overpriced ($3-4000) and not sure if they have their own unknown issues. They would not afford the potential flexibility of a Mac, accomplishing so many other potential tasks.
Proposed solution would seem to offer a wealth of possiblities if someone may have an idea how to tie it all together. Anybody?

Thanks for the tip about QuickTime pro.
I think rather than moving the iSight camera down or up to adjust magnification, that you use Zoom instead.
Zoom is a lot more user friendly with something like the PowerMate. The hot keys for adjusting magnification are just a little too obscure and awkward for my tastes, but having a dedicated knob takes care of that. We use a single press to toggle inverse on and off. A press and hold to activate/deactivate Zoom altogether. Press and spin to adjust contrast.

  • PrintWriter Solution to Flushing (seems like a hack tho)

    All,
I have been trying to write a XSS filter. The filtering was the easy part. For some reason, when I overload getWriter() in HttpServletResponseWrapper and return my own writer, the final buffer is not being flushed.
Here is what I have experienced. The following line of code was my first attempt:
return new PrintWriter(new XssPreventOutputStream(out));Nada. When I place debug statements in my output stream (which extends ServletOutputStream), the final buffer is never even passed to write(byte[], int, int). So, I extended PrintWriter and overloaded the following:
    public void write(char[] buffer, int offset, int length) {
       super.write(buffer, offset, length);
super.flush();  // Why do I have to do this?  This is what smells funny to me
}Placing an additional call to flush() in close() does nothing. I seem to have to flush() on every write(char[], int, int) in my overloaded PrintWriter. Am I doing something wrong? BTW, the custom output stream I wrote does nothing (yet):
public final void write(final byte[] buffer, final int offset, final int length)
              throws IOException {
              System.err.println("DEBUG >>> write(byte[] int, int) : \r\n" + new String(buffer, offset, length));
              out.write(buffer, offset, length);
}I'm sure there is something so obviously simple it is completely escaping me right now. I just feel that issuing flush() after every write(char[], int, int) is a hack.
    Thanks!
    - Saish

Thanks for the replies. If I overload close() and place debugging statements in there, it is being called. I am overloading the PrintWriter returned by ServletResponse#getPrintWriter(). So, I do not really have explicit control (nor do I think I should) when Struts is being used.
Another oddity, not sure if it will help, but I do see debugging messages that flush() is also being called, to no effect unless I place the flush in write(char[], int, int), which to me seems like a mistake. (Sorry if this is too vague).

  • How to show title of link that is drag and dropped into messages (like it was in iChat)

I recently updated from Lion to Mavericks and with that came the change from iChat to Messages.  My problem that I have is that back when I had iChat I could just drag and drop links (example from Reddit) into the chat window and then the link would be shown with the link title from the website instead of just the address.
Is there a setting I can change to get this back?  Right now I am having to hand type all the titles/descriptions and then provide the web address.

    Hi,
I was thinking through how I have sent Links for web sites in ichat in the past and if I had changed now.
I have always Copied and Pasted the URL and had not tried Dragging the URL  to iChat/Messages.
I have just tried from my Snow Leopard computer to my Mavericks one and I see the full URL at the snow Leopard end and the Mavericks end (using Bonjour)
However If i Drag a link from on a Page then that title to the link is what I see.
It also works from Mavericks to the Snow Leopard computer.

  • My Macbook has been hacked (Not just freaking out like most 'hack' post btw)

I have had a 'friend' send me screen shots of my computers current activity as well as mock things I have said in conversations on facebook. (I believe he/they can even hear the audio I am currently listening to or playing. 'Believe' being the wrong word seeing that i know they can.) I have even had 'friends' describe what I'm wearing... I have looked into this a little bit and know of keylogger softwares and whatnots but I am having trouble identifying this on my computer.
Multiple people are in on this and all are viewing my computer on some sort of site...
I have known for quite sometime I am being spied on but haven't cared much until recently because it is starting to jeopardize my work.
Please help. Again, this is a factual.

We don't know what he or his friends might have installed - and there are programs that will do it. If they know what he's wearing and they can't see in, they either have X-Ray vision, ESP or a camera somewhere. I've discounted the first two.
You don't have to erase everything if that's the case.  You're suggesting overkill.
Backing up data followed by a reinstall is pretty painless I think. Takes an hour but easy enough.
    And iPad 6?????????
Sarcasm, I don't remember seing any hardware details.
Personally, I think that kind of intrusion, although funny to whomever is doing it needs to be dealt with very decisively. In that situation I would just start over, changing user names and passwords.
Overkill? Maybe to you. If you've ever been in that kind of situation you might not think so.

  • Seems like someone hacked my account

There are playlist and songs I haven't played. Sometimes my music is stopped and other music begins. There were some other devices that were on my account which I deleted, but they are still accessing my account. It's annoying but I worry even more about billing information. Any ideas? I can't seem to find a way to contact Spotify about this.

Hello  & welcome to the Community!
You can follow these steps in order to ensure nobody is accesing your account:
Enter your account settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and click "Sign Out Everywhere".
Then proceed to change your accounts password.
This should stop any undesired people using your account.

  • IChat AV 3.1.9 (v446) HOW 2 USE IT? - NEVER USED IT - I'D LIKE 2 USE IT!

Till today, I separately use msn messenger and yahoo messenger. I'd like to only use iChat AV 3.1.9 (v446) I already have installed but got no idea how to use it.
When I click iChat the Buddy List window opens together with AOL Instant Messenger Login which informs me that "iChat was unable to login to the AOL Instant Messenger service because your screen name or password was incorrect." In the Login ID section there's my every day used e-mail; [email protected] and the password section is empty. The thing is that I got no idea when I gave those info to AOL and I can't remember my password... so I can't login.
Then I go to iChat preferences, click Accounts and I see 3 of them. The first one is an AOL Instant Messenger account named George Nikas, the second another AOL Instant Messenger account and the third another Bonjour account. At the last account I open My Address Book Card and among my info I also see an e-mail I have never used (created like all the other info ages ago); [email protected]
As I said in the first paragraph I'd like to use iChat, rearrange all my info and delete anything which isn't useful.
    1) I would like to edit my .Mac account but how?
    2) Also edit my AIM and Bonjour account. Maybe delete one of them? (As I said I found two AIM accounts). How?
    3) Embody my msn and yahoo messengers in iChat.
Please don't laugh at all my stupid questions!
I KNOW I'M A MESS AND SOUND LIKE A CHILD!
    THANK GOD THERE'S APPLE DISCUSSIONS.
    THANX A LOT!

    Hi,
    The Detailed Version http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/versions/ichat3/howtos3.html
Use the Second menu for the first three items.
iChat 3 can login in to one AIM Buddy List and one Jabber List and the Bonjour option giving you a max of three Buddy Lists at any one time.
AIM Screen Names and Apple IDs (Email type for @mac.com or MobileMe) can be used for the AIM Buddy List.
GoogleTalk is a Jabber Server and can be made to work in iChat 3
You Can have other Jabber IDs from other servers.
If you have more than one AIM valid name or Jabber account set up in iChat 3 then you have to Log one out before you Login another.
There is only ever one Bonjour list if you have Enabled this and it is essentially Mac to Mac only on your LAN.
This can only be edited as such via your Address Book.
It uses the Name on the "My Card" to send that as your Buddy Name to other Macs on your LAN.
IF there are other Macs on your LAN with iChat Open and Bonjour Enabled then you will see people as their own Address Book Entry
If you cannot remember telling AIM your Hotmail Email name (It is possible to register Email IDs as Screen Names at AIM) then it would be best to delete that Account in iChat > Preferences > Accounts (Highlight then use the Minus button lower left).
For your @Mac.com type name you may get some Progress here https://iforgot.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSiForgot.woa/wa
Type in the @Mac.com name and you will be led through the retrieval Process.
However it may want to send the response to an Email address you no Longer have access to.
(and just to complicate things you can't change the reply Email address until you have access to the Account).
    Summary
For 1) try the Paragraph above.
For 2) just delete the Hotmail name as an AIM name. You cannot edit the Bonjour Stuff in iChat but can change your Name in the Address Book (This will also effect Mail as it "Sends" your Name as part of the Headers linked to the Email Address you use).
I have left 3) until now.
This can be done but only for Text Chats.
With a Jabber Account you do some background/workaround stuff that enables that Jabber account to login to what is called A Transport on an Jabber server that then links that Jabber ID to MSN or Yahoo.
    Resources.
http://www.jabberes.org/servers/ A list of Jabber Servers and the options they have like Transports.
Some allow you to login via any other Jabber server (After your set it up you don't have to use the Jabber account but can use another such as GoogleTalk)
Instructions on how to make iChat use these Transports http://allforces.com/2005/05/06/ichat-to-msn-through-jabber/
As I have pointed out it pays to know which Jabber Server you are going to use first before doing this bit. The Instructions make more sense if you are doing it as you go.
Instructions for Getting your GoogleMail Account to work in iChat 3 http://google.com/support/chat/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=24076
These pics and Instructions are for iChat 3
If you have a GoogleMail ID (@Gmail.com or @Googlemail.com) then you have to go to your account settings at Google and Enable Talk first.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to use iChat to register a new Jabber Account

I work in an office with all Macs and we'd like to begin using iChat for intra-office messaging. Many of us already have AIM accounts, but we'd like to keep internal office communication strictly internal. We have a computer running Parallels Server and I've downloaded some different Jabber virtual appliances. The difficulty is that when I try to connect from iChat I'm continually prompted for a password.
Now, I've read that Jabber needs an account to be "registered" and several messaging clients (Psi, Adium, etc) support that registration process. What I'd like to know is either:
    a) How can one use iChat to perform the Jabber account registration process?
    or
    b) Is there another suggested piece of software that could be used by an administrator or one individual that could complete that process so that clients could use iChat?
    That ought to do it.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
With the exception of the Get a iChat Screen Name button in the First pane of Add an Account ichat has no other way to Register any name.
AN MobileMe name from Apple, an AIM Name for the AIM site or a Google Name all require that you register via a web Browser on a site.
Some Other Jabber servers also allow you to do this but on the whole it needs something like Psi or AdimuX that have the Jabber Registration module.
However if you are using OX Server then the Tiger and Leopard version have an iChat Server (which is a Jabber Server) on which Accounts can be set up.

  • IChat not working with Open Directory users

I have a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.1. It provides services like Address Book, iCal, iChat, Mobile Access, MySQL, Web, SMB, Push, etc... I named the server 'Alpha' with the hostname 'alpha.markhadjar.com'
I use DynDNS to help update my dynamic IP address with my ISP. They host my domain markhadjar.com. I created an 'A' record for markhadjar.com using my current IP. The DynDNS software client sends my current dynamic IP address and updates the record. I also created an alias for 'www'.
Airport Extreme port forwards the correct ports to the requested server providing those services.
All my users are listed in the Open Directory. My trouble is I can't seem to get iChat to work for the OD users. I get a connection error.
The jabber account i'm using is the [email protected] I use the server 'ichat.markhadjar.com' with port 5222 without SSL as I do not have a SSL certificate.
In the ichat settings of Server Admin, I specified ichat.markhadjar.com as the server name. I also created an alias in DynDNS for ichat.markhadjar.com - not sure if that was needed.
I cannot connect using iChat to the server. I even changed the server in the iChat preferences (client side) to just markhadjar.com with no luck.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

Mark, you mention that this server 'alpha' is running many things including Mobile Access Server. Do you also run Open Directory on the server? I am trying to figure out if Open Directory is required to be running on the server that runs Mobile Access for it to work in authenticating users and granting them appropriate access. I am hoping it is not required, because I'm having problems getting it to replicate from the Master OD server. It would be easier if it doesn't need to run OD at all. But then if it doesn't run OD, what do I need to do to "bind" it to the other internal origin server? I have read all the MObile Access doc's 50 times, and this is not clear to me. Just wondering how you are using Mobile Access. thanks man!

  • I want to delete my ichat account and make a new one

i just got my mac and made a ichat account. i think i messed uo because i had used two different emails. i tried to add my friend but everytime it said waiting for authorization and it keep saying i was offline. i was wondering if there was any was i could fix this problem. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!

    Hi,
You haven't added any Spec for your machine or iChat version but you seem to imply it is new so I will presume Lion and iChat 6
iChat can use  4 types of names and some of those have sub-categories if you like.
In the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts you should have at least the Bonjour Option in the list even if you have no other accounts.
This is used between Macs on your LAN.
If they are using iChat and have Bonjour Enabled then you will see their Name as they call themselves in their Address Book. iChat will broadcast your Name as at the My Card in your Address Book (Head and Shoulders icon card).
iChat can join the AIM service and these can be one of three (sub) type of  Names, although the Buddy list can have Buddies of each type.
You can register at AIM themselves, with @Mac.com and use a MobileMe name (Ending @Me.com)
Generically the Account/Buddy List is referred to as an AIM list as @Mac.om and MobileMe names are Valid AIM Screen Names
iChat can use Jabber Names/IDs. These include Google and there is an Option with iChat 4 onwards to use this a a separate sub category when adding an Account to iChat (In creating a BUddy List)
A Jabber ID can add Goolge Buddies or a Google Buddy List can have Jabber Buddies.
iChat 6 adds the ability to use a Yahoo ID as well.
Although the Yahoo for Mac App (it is still in Beta) can add MSN contacts this cannot be done in iChat.
    Adding Buddies.
In an "AIM" List you can add Buddies by clicking the Plus icon at the Bottom of the Buddy List and selecting Add Buddy
You type the Buddy's name in full (As in [email protected], or [email protected] or the AIM name that the persons tells you (it may not be an Email) )
Allowing or Blocking a Buddy is then done in the iChat Menu Preferences > Accounts > Security tab.
With a Jabber/Google List  you have to Authorize the Buddy as you Add them. A Person has to be in th Buddy List rather than allowing or Blocking them later.
To be more precise a Request to Authorize is sent to the Buddy and they either Accept or Deny.
In iChat 3 through 5 this needed to be done when the Buddy was On Line as iChat does not repeat the Request.   From what you post it seems this has not changed in iChat 6
(Other Jabber apps continually send the request until such time as the person actually sees the request and does something about it.)
So it may not be that the Name is "Wrong" or that you have set up your account incorrectly.
I have no info on setting up a Yahoo account at present or how Buddies are added for Allow/Block Authorise or not.
What you cannot do is use an AIM Account to add Google or Jabber buddies to (Or vice versa) even though on the whole the naming formats (email Style IDs) applies to both.
AIM Registrations ask for a second email for Password recovery
@mac.com Registrations require a second email to Verify the Apple ID you are creating (It happens to be an Valid AIM screen Name as well  (@mac.com look like email but are not so you cannot verify them back through @mac.com as it were).
The Waiting for Authorisation message only comes from a Google Talk ID or a Jabber Buddy List.
It will show if you add an AIM valid Name or if the Buddy is Off Line and not seeing the Request to answer it.
    Example iChat 4 pic
(not sure why I had these to options crossed out but I may have been talking about iChat 3 when I used it)
Obviously iChat 6 has Yahoo as well.

  • IChat AV Problems

    hello there,
I am having problems connecting video chat. I have a new MacBook and I have been able to connect AV with another MacBook user with no problems. But when I try to connect to an iBook and a G5 I get the error that the other did not respond. I have read the forums a lot and noticed a lot of people have this problem, but to no avail I could not find out how to fix this. I think my MacBook settings are fine. I am assuming it's the iBook and G5 that need to be fixed. When I try to connect the iBook and MacBook on the same network it connects fine (obviously). But when I try to connect from different networks it does not work.
Now with all the same settings we successfully connected to three different computers once (two being on the same network in Colorado and one being in New York). But we never got it working after that. It continuously says that the user did not accept invitation. I am trying to set this up for work because we have one person working in New York, one in Basalt, CO and I'm soon going to be in Boulder, CO. We would like to have this iChat thing fixed. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks,
    Lorne17
PS-Mac version is: 10.4.7 on all three computers and iChat version is: 3.1.5 on all three computers.

Ok now I tried it again and got a communications error. I tried connecting from my iBook G4 in Colorado to a G5 desktop in New York. This is the error I got below, if you can please help, i'd greatly appreciate it. We already set up both computers with firewall settings from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208 Now I don't know what to do. Please help!?!?! Thanks,

  • 3rd-party software to record iChat video?

There used to be Conference Recorder by iCamm, but it doesn't support OS X 10.6. I'm looking for some software that enables me to record iChat video, but not necessarily while I'm chatting with someone -- I used to use Conference Recorder to record a video diary for my own purposes.
If I’m using iChat and not chatting with anybody the “record video” option is not enabled. Ther has GOT to be some third-party software out there that does the same job as Conference Recorder did. And I’m not talking that ripoff, SnapzPro — who has $69 to spend on shareware? Apple sells an entire OS for less than $30.
Besides, I don’t want a screen recorder — I would like one specifically for iChat. Any suggestions? It’s hard to believe there isn’t something out there that does what I’m describing for a resonable price.

I don't have an answer to your question, but it seems to me you're not looking for an app to record iChat video -- there's no chat if you're not chatting -- but for an app to record iSight or FaceTime video. Perhaps you'd be better off looking for a video diary app, maybe something like viJournal.

(There are several other video diary apps.)

  • Is it possible for Ipod touch to get hacked?

I seriously feel like my Ipod touch was hacked.
When I woke up this morning, it was acting weird. There were a whole bunch of apps open that I had not opened. When I tried to update my apps, it was saying that my Apple ID had been locked for saftey reasons. I reset the password and all that. There were also apps downloaded and webpages saved to my home screen that I did not do. Now I just tried to check my bank account through the app, and it's saying that my account is locked out. I seriously worried now.
Has this happened to anyone else?

It sounds like somebody hacked inot places where account infromation was stored.  I doubt it was the iPod since the iPod does not contain your iTunes account password.

  • IChat is beta software right?

Its amazing that Skype and sightspeed can perform video chats flawlessly but people have to jump through hoops to maybe get ichat video to work. I can't believe this is an Apple forum with talk about routers and setting modem ports. Skype (which is a beta) and sightspeed worked first time for me and they keep working. Apple software is supposed to be like that, install it and use it.
Is iChat the flakiest Apple software ever?
I'm a Mac user since the Mac Plus days and I've never seen anything like this trash called iChat/video.
    Rant off!

ichatav3 works exactly as promised and perhaps even
better than promised in my own situation since I can
    also host a 3 way video chat on a G4 733 PowerMac.
(Thanx to a small app called PowerBoost which adds a
    significant performance bump to ichatav).
Is Powerboost going to help me connect? I'm glad you have found iChat works eaxctly as promised but judging by this discussion board there are many people for whom iChat AV most certainly does not work, at all! I had to laugh at Steve jobs giving a demo of the next version of iChat today. he is obviously blissfully unaware that this particular Apple software is flaky, intermittant and they are its good points. I don't want pretty backgrounds I just want the **** software to work as advertised! How come Skype can bring out software that works well but Apple's video chat software is a joke for some of us? Doesn't anyone from Apple read these boards?

  • Does iChat support JPEG video streaming

    Dear Sir,
I would like to capture image and then encode to JPEG format and then send the JPEG file to iChat 15 times per second. Does iChat can display the JPEG file properly?
    Thanks!
    Best Regards,
    sunshine_uyl

    Ok,
Some more backing up and standing back from this.
I am still trying to interpret what it is exactly you are wishing to do.
If this "board" is something you want to use as a Camera source and it supplies or rather can supply stills of one form or another at 15fps then I don't think this is going to possible.
As one source iChat can use DV format in it's plainest form. (NOT DV or any proprietary versions)
As another iChat can since OS X 10.4.9 use the UVC driver to access USB 2.0 UVC compliant cameras
iChat has some support folders in the /System/Library and the Frameworks and PrivateFrameworks.
These control which video feeds it allows in a sort of "Native" form if you like.
This is through the CVPixelBuffer and the CVOpenGLBuffer (CV = Constant Video)
At least for iChat 4 in Leopard - I am having difficulty in working out where they have moved things in iChat 5/Snow Leopard)
Certain USB 1.1 Cameras that have Mac Drivers Installed on the Mac still need a third Party utility (iUSBCam) to convert the video from that camera into something iChat can use.
Mostly these were VGA output (See Here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webcam#Technology)
Certain IM apps such as Yahoo for Mac use a web cam but provide a collection of rapid Stills much like you talk about to give the appearance of movement.
There are certain apps that can do the same and Stream those as a Live feed to a web site. See Evocam or Security Spy
On the other hand can iChat deal with jpegs or in fact any Still format the answer is yes.
In iChat 4 and higher there is iChat Theatre and iPhoto Share.
iPhoto Share can play a Slide Show of anything in a collection/Slide show that has been set up in iPhoto (best to turn Music Off in my book).
As this could be a folder within iPhoto I toyed with the idea of getting new pics into iPhoto fast enough to display in s Slide show but have not checked what the fastest display a Slide show can manage but doubt it is 15 a sec.
iChat Theatre can be used to display the docs from other apps
For Instance it can play Movies. If you have Quicktime Add-on plug-ins to display a movie on your Mac than it can play almost anything. (Perian can play Dvix for instance along with others and Flip4Mac can play .avi files and other Windows formats).
It can also display the slides for Powerpoint or Keynote (Pays to change the Side Ratio to 4:3 or better still Square to fit the Chat Video Chat window).
I must admit to not having tried that many other apps but the same should apply in a lot of cases.
In both case your Video feed is replaced with a "Stream" of the App or file in question.
    Next.
iChat can also do Backdrops in Video Chats on Intel macs.
The Backdrop can be a single Still or a Movie (you are asked to step out of the Frame so it can register the background where you sit and then replaces that with the Movie or Pic). You don't have to step back into view and it could then "Stream" that pic.
These are created by Quartz files splitting the Cameras Feed off from the background and adding either Filters for the Effects or Adding Pics or Movies for Backdrops.
These files are created with Quartz Composer (Installed with Developers Tools on Your Install Disk > Optional Installs).
Whether Quartz Composer can be made to "See" the Input from the "board" I am not sure. (Image seems to be one Still Only and Video seems to be the Camera (I did not spend long looking at how the controls/source might be tweaked).
    Thirdly.
I was discussing this with EZ Jim, a level 4 poster who hangs out mostly in the iSight Forum.
He was wondering if you meant getting the board to Chat with iChat like it was a Buddy (and then presumingly recording the Video chat, to get around the USB input constraint.
If the board was Internet able and could Interact with either a Jabber Server or the AIM Servers (run an AIM or Jabber client that was Video Capable) it would have to send data in the H264 Video format.
I don't think this is what you meant but I thought I would pose it for clarification.
Another possibility is a DV converter as a Standalone items between the board and the Mac.
I had one that had RCA, S-Video and Firewire inputs.
This would be an expensive option and depend on what outputs the board has physically
    Summary.
Board as camera I don't think is likely unless it can produce DV Video
My 8 1/2 year old G4/1Ghz Dual Processor (Mirrored Door Tower) can handle an USB 2.0 UVC complaint camera.
It has handled DV input from a DV converter in the past.
It basically depends on the Pic size in this case (Aim for 640 X 480 pixels as a Max)
Boards as Means to Input a feed like other apps for iChat Theatre would depend somewhat on the working space or Doc that was created.
I would have to play around with a few more to find out what the limitation were.
(At this point I would imagine using a single file that was being updated 15 time a sec but have difficulty thinking that many processors would cope with that let alone access it at the same time as another app was updating it.)
I have a feeling iPhoto can not play a Slide Show with each pic being only 4 secs "long". It may also not cope with a folder that was having more pics added to it (Can't add Photos to Slide show on the fly as it were)
I do feel the Quartz Composer route may have merit.
Quartz Composer does allow Input from several sources an may be able to "see" the board directly over USB rather then importing a file.
In may well be able to Input a series of files which would mean the board having an App on the computer to save the files to then read.
This would require learning some new skills and take a while to set up.
Although getting Pic into iChat and sending them to 1 person in a video chat would inherently be more secure there may be other ways of getting a series of Pic as "video" feed on to a web page or other Broadcast method.
See EZ Jim's list http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage7.html in the top left hand section and Nannycam at the bottom.
If the Board can Export in Streaming Flash then also see the items 9 through 12 in this section http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page5.html#_othe
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.
Essentially I don't think there is an Easy Way to do this.
