I'd like to shorten the name of my app as it appears below the icon once installed on an iPad

I work for a magazine and the name of our app is the same as the name of our magazine. The trouble is that the name is a little long and it gets truncated when it is below the icon on the ios desktop once the app is installed. I'd like to shorten it to an abbreviation that makes more sense that the automatic truncation that is occuring right now. But I'd prefer not to change the name of the app in the itunes store. Is this possible?

App store name and spotlight name on the device should be as nearly similar as practical....but they don't need to be identical
The spotlght name is the bundle display name - use the 'Info' tab in code.
You'll have to update the app to get this done, so use it as a chance for any cleanup, etc.

Check all of your folders to see if FaceTime is in any of them.
If not, check your restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) and if restrictions are on, and you know the passcode, then FaceTime might be turned off. Turn ON to veiw icon on home screen.
Let me know if this does/doesnt work.

I have read how to transfer data and using setup assistant but I am concerned about applications from Apple having the same names.

As you likely know legacy apps that are PPC based will not migrate over. However the data files will. I would urge you to inventory the apps you have and their data files to see how important they are and then look app by app to see what app replacements are available. If you are using Office for Mac prior to the 2008 version you will need to get a new license of the app because the 2004 version was PPC based. The files will come over and are readable by newer version of Office for Mac (I recommend the 2011 version) and also readable by the iWorks apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) but those are different apps than Office and work differently and do not have all of the features of the MS Office apps. This is really only a issue if you share files with MS Office users, if you use them for personal work then iWork may be just fine for your needs.

I would like to change the iCloud apple ID on my iPad

I would like to change the apple ID associated with the icloud settings on an ipad. Running ios8 and when I go into settings the apple ID tied to iCloud isn't editable and won't let me delete it to set up a different one.

An app will not completely download from the App Store to my iPhone 5S. Neither can I terminate the download by trying to delete it. The app is useless to me and so I would like to remove the icon from my home screen. How can I do this?

I tried to download the app "Google Translate" from the App Store onto my iPhone 5s. However, the download will not complete. As well, when I try to delete the icon from my home screen, it will not go away. I am very frustrated as this has never happened before and I have gotten many paid and free apps from the App Store. What have you tried to get the app to finish downloading e.g. have you tried logging out and back into your account on your phone, disconnecting and reconnecting to your network, soft-reset of your phone (press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, ignore the red slider, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot) ?
You could also try downloading the update on your computer's iTunes and see if you can sync it over to your phone (or delete the app its Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes and sync the new version - deleting the app will delete its contents).

HT201365 my iPad was stolen and I just got a message that it was turned on and now locked and my message posted. How do I find out where that happened? it's now off again but I'd like to know the location of where find my iPad occurred!

I have had email notification that my ipad that was stolen was turned on and connected to the internet however no other info was avail about where the unit was turned on to help me find a location of where it is. It is now off again. The site has no info on how to find data on where it was turned on. I've received emails saying it's now locked and message displayed. There myt be a way to find out where it was turned on!

How to change the icon for 'windows group' in Java 1.6 [Windows XP] ?

I was wondering if there is a possibility to change the icon for 'windows group' in Java 1.6...
I'm using Windows XP SP2. Now the windows from my Java 1.6 application are grouped with the standard Sun icon [screen below] on the group.

Whichever icon I use for the main frame (I tried few), after grouping the main frame and other sub-frames the icon is changed to standard 'Java Sun' icon as you can see in the screenshot from my first post. Those links now have hyphenated boxes as their icons not the Amazon icon. Once I click on an existing link the Amazon icon is activated and replaces the hyphenated boxes. Literally EVERY bookmark / link icon is now a hyphenated box till I click once. How can I fix this? I'm running Firefox 8.0 on windows XP. This problem started this week. Before and After upgrading to firefox 8.0 from 7.xxxx. See screen shot example.jpg i've attached below. Double click to enlarge it for better viewing. Any input welcomed. Not a major problem but I would like to have the icons back.

Thanks. That solved it. I had my doubts since I wasn't concerned about my lost bookmarks. I was concerned about the broken functionality. In any event, restoring from a backup solved both the functionality and the lost bookmarks. I appreciate the response!
