I dare any to try this, Powerbook with display removed (still works)

for anyone who wants to take a stab at it. i have a titanium powerbook G4 15inch 677mhz with a vga port and the screen removed (dont know why, its my moms) but it worked perfectly with vga monitor attached. i tried to update from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11 it and the update had an error because i didnt bother to do a disk repair before hand. so when i started it up after that, all i got was the loading OS X window, but the bar wouldn't move to progress. then i tried starting it up from the CD. and i could see a blank blue screen, and seemed like the computer loaded just fine, for it showed my the color wheel mouse and then just the pointer and the computer sounded like it was finished loading. now i erased the computer via target disk mode with my mac mini (10.4.11), for i felt that my only alternative because the problem is (what i think) the default settings of the computer video source is programmed to only display the source thru the original screen it thinks it has. so when i plug in a monitor thru the vga port, it shows up as, not the main screen, but as an addition link to the right of the main screen, so i cant see the screen with the software controls. i dont have any os X powerbook system cd's except for the ones that came with the power book, which are system 10.1.2. very old. but i cant even open the os X installer on the cd from my mac mini which is probably because i have system 10.4.11 on it, nor can i start up from the cd either.
starting up from the laptop works even with the cd... i think... i just cant see the specific screen the installer window is on.
and something tells me there is a very simple solution to this, for it was working fine until i tried to update it.
please help... lol

i believe i have tried that, i just dont think the system startup disks allow you to switch displays, which is asinine and another inching step away to seeing macintosh lose its grip on its "moldable" user/developer friendly system.

Hi,
IDoc control record will get generated by the XI runtime and there are certain fields which cannot be controlled using mapping for e.g. in your case disabling of RCVPRN ..if you disable this field stil the value will be generated and passed to the receiver system...
To check what exactly idoc values are passing then go to MONI and check there under Response ->IDoc Outbound which displays the control record values passed exactly...

Go into your bluetooth settings and forget all the connections. Then Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, and try it again.

XML error when trying to run any report with add/remove programs - worked briefly after SP1 upgrade - no longer works

here and it did work - for a day or so. Now, I am getting the error again. Not sure what to do. Please advise.

This problem was solved in SP1 if you are still having this problem after applying SP1, then you need to contact CSS directly for support, they will work with you to solve this problem.

You should not have paid twice. If you logged into the App Store with the same AppleID as you used to purchase Mountain Lion the first time, you should not have been charged again.
If you internet connection is not working well enough to download it, do you have access to another network that might be faster? Perhaps and Apple Store nearby?

When that message came up, you had less than half a gig of disk space left (because that is what can trigger the message). After closing the filter, the space in use was freed - but while running the filter, you did not have enough disk space + RAM to complete the operation, hence the message.

The spacebar on this powerbook is sticking and not working occasionally

My fiance got a powerbook from her uncle used and the spacebar seems to stick and not register a space, quite often. So I was wondering if there was some sort of easy way to fix it, or if we would have to take it into an apple store

well its not like physically sticky to the touch or stays down when it its more finiky where i'll hit the space bar but no space is typed on screen even the key gets pressed and comes back up, sorry should have picked my words better

I recently purchased a telemprompter which uses an LCD TV with a composite input. (From here on out referred to as teleprompter) I set my powerbook up with the S-video to Composite adapter and hooked it up to my Big TV. The screen automatcially detected the external display and changed the settings and diplayed the screen.
When my teleprompter showed up, and was plugged in, nothing happened. I went to the display perferences and clicked detect displays and the image flickered once on the telemprompter. But it didn't show anything else and a second display box did not show up.
Then I plugged my TV in and it didn't auto detect, but when I clicked detect displays it did and all worked again. Then I plugged the telemprompter into the cable and IT WORKED. I could use the LCD TV.
I then clicked "detect displays" and the image disappeared from the teleprompter and the second display box disappeared.
For some reason it is not seeing this particular device. Is there a way to manually force a 2nd display? Everything would work, if I could tell OS X to output a display out the S-video port.
Is this possible? Manually set 2nd display?
I'm using 10.4.4 on a powerbook 1.67ghz. I'm going to try a cheap VGA scan converter in hopes that it will work that way, with a DVI to VGA to scan converter, to composite.

I don't know if my recent experience helps us understand your dilemna, but I just bought one of these NEC 20" all-in-one LCD monitors. It has DVI, VGA, YUV, S-Video, Composite video, and RF input. It's native resolution is 1600 x 1050 and can supposedly scale any input resolution up to 1920 x 1080i. I'm having issues very similar to yours... maybe we can solve them putting our 2 brains together.
I have (2) mini-macs. One of which detected the monitor just fine, and displays the 1600 x 1050 perfectly over DVI. The other seemed to only get a 'partial list' from the monitor when it did it's display detection. It seemed to only get the 'TV' style resolutions, because most of them are interlaced options, and the olny one that doesn't make the monitor twitch like an epoleptic is 1280 x 720p. There is no 1600 x 1050... there isn't even 1024 x 768, 800 x 600, or 640 x 480 listed!!! The funny thing is, if I output to the montior analog VGA (as opposed to DVI) I get the 'full list' of resolutions. This tells me that a 1-time preference/ registry is being made/ created when the detect displays is hit for the first time with a monitor. I can't figure out where the **** this preference information is stored either. It seems if we can find out where on these mini-macs this registry is made, we can solve both are issues... because it certainly is not an issue of the graphics not being able to output the desired resolution. It seems to be some bug in reading the DDC info from the monitor.
If anyone can help.... much appreciation would be had from this frustrated user.

Facebook and Slacker no longer working with Firefox. Still work with Explorer. Until a week ago problem did not exist.

I am for about one week not able to input information on Facebook. Also the Facebook page appears in a huge font. Regarding Slacker I do not see any available online radio stations. Until about a week ago everything worked fine. At present I can work with Internet Explorer, but at present can no longer work with Firefox.

My email suddenly quit working with Firefox but still works with Google.

The inbox opens up but won't go to a message when it's clicked. Also won't delete messages or go to any other folders. New messages do come in-just can't read them. This started a couple days ago and Firefox didn't seem to be performing well that day. When it improved the email problem remained.

Since installing firefox4.0b5 sound has stopped working with flash. Still works normally with 3.6.x and was working with 4.0b1

Yesterday I downloaded the latest nightly build of minefield and flash stopped working. I re-installed flash, still now joy. I copied all plugins from usr/lib64/plugins to .plugins and videos then played in flash but without sound. Sound continues to work normally in Firefox3.6.x and in Opera. Distribution is Mandriva2010 Spring

Strange, it is now working again, I can't think of anything I have changed. - I uninstalled nspluginwrapper and re-installed it, re-booted and that didn't seem to make any difference but just clicked on a video and it played fine with sound. Really annoying because I don't know what to do next time if it happens again.

WRTU54G-TM try this to fix blue light problems, dropping service and disconnects

I spent a ton of time on the phone with T-Mobile, Linksys and the internet company to solve the problem of the router kicking off frequently.
The last suggestions, which has worked so far is to log into your router. Change the MTU from automatic to manual and then type in 1450. Save and it will reboot. Wait until your back online and you should have NO problems. Linksys says this is the workaround until tmobile releases the ok on new firmware.
if its blinking blue either call tmobile and have them deactivate the voicemail on that line or you need to set it up.

I just started the t-Mobile @ Home service with the WRTU54G-TM router this weekend and had all sorts of issues with the router rebooting and dropping the blue-light.
I have AT&T DSL with a 5100 Speedstream modem. Before getting the Linksys router, I had a 5 year old Netgear wireless router that had a rock solid internet connection - only dropped it 3 times over a 5 year period.
After having a full day off issues with the t-Mobile Linksys router, I decided to try reconfiguring my network so I had the Netgear router in between the Linksys and the modem.
I downloaded the latest set-up wizard from Linksys and ran it (and followed the instructions to the "t"), and chose the option to keep my existing network (with the netgear router) and add the t-Mobile Linksys router to the existing network. Since the Linksys has better wireless and security features than the old Netgear router, I still have all my wireless traffic going through the Linksys (I turned off the wireless features of the Netgear router). All the Netgear router is doing is keeping the internet connection alive.
So far (it's only been one day), I've seen a dramatic improvement - haven't lost the blue light once and everything seems to be running fine. If you had an existing router that worked will prior to adding the T-mobile one, I would encourage you to try this set-up, since it has worked very well for me.

BBC iPlayer - This content doesnt seem to be working

Hi all, I have tried so many fixes but cant seem to fix the problem
When I log into my user and go on the BBC iPlayer website and click on any video, it loads perfectly fine.
However, when my mum logs onto her user account she cant play any videos.
The message that comes up for ANY video is 'This content doesnt seem to be working. Try again later'
This message never shows up on my side of the computer.
We have an iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,
4 GB RAM,
Mac OS X Lion Version 10.7.4,
The newest version of Flash installed (obviously because it works on my side)
The newest version of Safari installed
I have tried removing Flash from the computer then reinstaling it.
I also tried repairing disk permissions through Disk Utility.
I even tried deleting the Safari preferences in Library.
I tried reinstalling Safari
I tried installing 'click to flash' to see if it would convert it to HTML5 but that didnt work. So I deleted the extension.
It will load fine in Chrome & Firefox. So we can assume with this that its a problem with my mums Safari.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or has anyone had this happen to them?
I do realise the easiest solution would be to just watch BBC iPlayer stuff on another browser or download the BBC iPlayer App and watch videos through there but thats a hassle when it used to work in Safari and actually works in Safari on my side of the computer.

Never mind, after all that and searching loads of forums & discussions it turned out that it was little Snitch and its 'plugin process' turned off.
switched it to allow and its working now.

My thunderbolt display is not working with my MBP retina 13''

     I just received both a new macbook pro retina 13'' and a thunderbolt display. Everything was working properly yesterday but today, I have no clue why, the thunderbolt display is not working anymore.
     . the power supplier for my laptop given by the thunderbolt display is still working;
     . when I don't connect my laptop through the thunderbolt connection, I can use the usb sockets as power supplier , for my phone, for instance;
     . as soon as I plug the thunderbolt cable, the usb socket is not feeding any more my phone, whereas the screen is not displaying anything.
     . If I take a look in the system report, in the thunderbolt tab, there is "no device connected"...
I restarted plenty of time my laptop, took care to reinitialise the SMC as well as the PRAM, and nothing changed. I also disconnected the thunderbolt display, waited few minutes (and more), but nothing changed, again the black screen.
Has somebody an idea?

which model air do you have?
try both a pram and smc reset
plug the monitor into a different electrical outlet and a different port on your Mac (if you have multiple tb ports)
