I decided to remote lock my Macbook Pro from Find My iPhone. It's been three weeks and still no lock.

About three weeks ago, I was sitting in class, got bored, and decided that I'd try and see what would happen if I locked my Macbook Pro (17-inch 2.66 GHz on 10.8.2, early 2009) from Find My iPhone. I'm concerned because my Mac has never locked, despite being used daily, on a variety of networks, including buying from iTunes, and using Messages. I've turned off the computer multiple times since, and I really can't think of any other scenarios that I'd have to go through to get the Mac connected to Find My Mac. Is there anything I can do or is this just an oversight by Apple?

I think this is what you're saying, but I'm not sure:
You had turned on Find My Mac on your MacBook Pro in System Preferences > iCloud.
Then (while in class) you did a Find My Mac from your iPhone.  Presumably you did indeed see it pop up on a map there in its correct location.  You then sent a "lock" command which never took effect.  Further, you received an email confirmation that the lock commend actually got sent.
Is that right?

  • So my Psychotic now Ex-Boyfriend locked my Macbook Pro using " Find my iPhone"

I need to ask how to get my Macbook unlocked. My now Ex-Boyfriend decided since I broke up with him, it was a good idea to Hijack my Macbook Pro and lock it with the 4 digit pin number. I just got to my mothers house and I am now trying to figure out how to unlock it. Should I call Tech Support? Should I call the Apple store? Should I take it to the Apple store? Any suggestions? Is there any way to unlock it right here and now?

Take it to the Apple store along with proof of ownership and they can unlock it.  If he has access to your iCloud account, you should also change your password as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password.

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Sending by Dropbox where, To who, to what computer? As your does not start up.
You need to take at least the OS disc to a work Mac computer and create DMG from the OS install disc then restore that DMG to USB thumb drive. Then you can boot the computer from that thumb drive and install the OS. That is if your hard drive is functioning correctly.
Then you can use the App disc in the external CD/DVD drive to load up all the included Applications that come with your version of OS X.

  • I locked my Macbook Pro using Find my Mac.

I type in the passcode, and it does not leave the lock screen. I have tried different networks, and a wrong passcode doesn't effect anything. How can I get out of this screen?

My iMac just got locked somehow, and not by me. It was showing the 6-digit lock pin code and I tried 123456 and it worked, however my entire hard drive has been erased. I had to set up the computer like it was new and I have no idea if I can recover any data. By the way, I also took it to Apple today when it was still locked and they said they could not help me because it was remotely locked through icloud. I am the only owner and I did not lock it, so I am guessing my apple ID/iCloud has been hacked.
Good Luck, try 123456 for the pin

  • TS4006 I located my remote locked my sons ipod via find my iphone app with the passcode "1234" and now it says passcode invalid? I have no computer to sync it to either?

ugh- My son left his ipod in a friends car. I remote locked it with another ipod. I entered "1234" as the passcode (stupid me?) and when we got it back it says invalid and keeps locking us out. I was never sent an email that the password would be changed if I did this. My problem is that I never synced it and the usb ports do not work anyhow on the laptop. He has only had it since March-this is beyond frustrating. I dont know what to do. Help?? Thank you

    Welcome to the Apple Community.

  • Cannot set up iCloud on MacBook Pro to find my iPhone??

I can login to MobileMe but not iCloud. Can't even get to the 'agree to terms' page before a window pops up saying 'iCloud is too busy to let new users log on'.
It also has in red letters unrecognised username and password when both work fine on iTunes etc. Also, I don't have Find my phone on my iPhone which is lost, so can I still locate it?
    Any help would be good.
    Cheers, Carlo.

Without having turned on Find My Phone in the iPhone settings, you can't track it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Question is did you lock your Mac from Find my iPhone using iCloud or is the Macbook really yours?
If you have in fact locked your Mac using Find my iPhone on iCloud then you will need to enter the PIN you have set when you locked the Mac.
*If you have not iniate the remote Lock then someone else has used your Apple ID and Password to lock your mac.
