Did you empty trash? Until you do, that HDD space is still allocated.

Local Mac shop said to hold down "c" after inserting disk to get "disk utility" to come up in order to wipe hard drive. I can't seem to get it to do this.This W7 was purchased for using Fusion, as others did - per reviews from amazon. The technician today called their contact at VMWare - Fusion not officially for use with Lion - even though I read at the VMWare support site that others have made it work. Wow, sounds like another reason to not use MS Windows.
Regarding your Disk Utility question, please elablorate I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Disk Utilty is just that...a utility, it's something most users never have to use especially on a new computer. Let me know what you're trying to do there before I give you some instructions.
As for as your Windows apps I would recommend using Mail and iCal, both come as part of OS X and are very robust tools. Don't discount the software built right into OS X it's very robust and powerful not all like the bloatware most Windows boxes ship with. Stamps.com well I'd look for another alternative. It's clear they don't support OS X which makes me a little suspicious that they're so behind the times.
Also if you have not been exposed to these links before I'd strongly recommend bookmarking them and using them. They're extermely useful!

I do not believe that your parents will go "spastic" because your iPod was stolen. I'm thinking that you jailbroke it yourself. Am I correct? -

I took my iMac to be fixed and when I got it back, mail was not set, so I called Apple and they helped me set up mail. Now the new mail goes to trash and there is no number by the 'inbox' to tell me how many new messages I have. I cannot save a draft to 'drafts.' There is a large number by 'trash' (I think all mail went to trash - including drafts). When I send myself an emai, it goes to trash also. This is on both my iMac (the one taken in) and my MacBook Pro (same emails) which was not taken in.
I went to 'rules' but have no idea what to do there. There are no rules in the rule box. When I click 'add rule' it puts 'rule 1' in the rule box, but since that was not there when I took it in, I delete it to have an empty rule box.
Can someone pleasehelp me. I am completely stupid with all this. Do not under stand what is suppose to be set up in 'rules.'

ArudiNow new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
I also can save drafts now on both computers.
Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.

Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You first need to sign into the account in iTunes on your laptop, then you need to transfer the content from your moms laptop and import it into iTunes on yours. You can do this in a number of ways, either over a network, with an external drive, or even a USB stick.
If you go to iTunes preferences > advanced on your moms laptop, it will tell you where the original files can be found. -

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

You have Jailbroken your device. Apple does not support Jailbreaking and as such having done so has voided your warranty and forfeited any support from Apple and by extension these forums. We are not allowed to discuss Jailbroken devices in any way by the Terms of Service of the forum.
You will have to find help elsewhere. Ask the person that installed Cydia to restore the phone. -
my macbook's safari wont open. At first it got deleted and so i got it back by bluetooth and now it wont open because of the version of mac OS X update. Need help urgently, I upgraded my iPhone 4 with new OS 5, but at the last restore failed. Apple Customer Care helped me to resynch my phone with all that available in Library. now i am really frustrated with it. Every single update has robbed me of battery power which began with about 8-10 hours of usage and now I am lucky if I get 2 hours. It isn't the battery. It has something to do with the updates to the OS. It was fine until the first one and it has only gotten worse each time. I have had three email accounts on here since they started with the message app and now it has gone crazy. It gives me a server error message each time. I put in the same settings for it as the ones on my laptop to no avail. I am ready to scream. I have worked for days trying to get this email account back on my BB playbook, NOT! And also I want another reader on here. Kobo is great, but I would love to have another option as well. I tried to put some pdf books on it a few days ago and they wouldn't show up when I put them on. Some did and some didn't. I am so frustrated with playbook. I have loved it till the last 2 weeks. Now, I am extremely frustrated to say the least. Well I have been upset about the battery thing almost from the get go. Can anyone help with the email thing. My email is a bellsouth account. I have 2 yahoo accounts on it and they seem to be fine, but afraid to take them off and re-put them all back on lest they should do the same thing.
There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
Delete ALL your email accounts.
Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON. Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.
