I deleted iPhoto - Help

In my stupidity I removed my iPhoto from my 'dock' and somehow I also deleted the iPhoto from the applications menu, so I no longer have iPhoto anymore, I do however have all the pictures. I tried to upgrade and I do not have the launcher for iPhoto, so it is impossible to reinstall it this way. I tried to do a software restore using the disks supplied however it did not work.
Is there anyway I can get the iPhoto back without doing a complete system restore as I would not like to lose all the stuff I had previously.
With kind regards,
Erik Katelnikoff

The iPhoto application should be in your applications folder
If you have removed it and your computer came with restore disks then you will need them to reinstall. Or you can purchase a version on DVD or from the App Store. Apple my be able to reace missing restore disks for a nominal charge

  • Help! Kids deleted iPhoto

The kids deleted iPhoto, and now I can't reinstall it. The install errors a few seconds in, and all I get is that an error occurred. I'm stuck, not sure how to proceed. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

I just tried to re-install iPhoto following your instructions but (isn't there always some butt around?) while running the installer from the lib>reciept>iPhoto.pkg, it begins the install, but I get a "There were errors installing the software" and in the installer window "Please try again".
I've tried it several times, including after re-start, same error...
    Help!!!
I started this process because like so many lame individuals out there, I have moved & played with my iPhoto lib using finder... so now I know, but in the mean time, my iPhone doesn't want to sync to selected folders in iPhoto. For whatever reason, iPhone only reads some of the photos in the selected folder, like 50 out of 200....

  • I deleted my events in iPhoto Help?  The "events" are not in the trash.  I did download stellar phoenix recovery but not sure what to do

You deleted them in iPhoto on your Mac?
If you do not have a backup of your iPhoto library, run the recovery program you downloaded, then reimport the folder with recovered photos into iPhoto.
You will probably have to weed out plenty of seemingly duplicates (thumbnails, previews, and original files), since the program will not be able to reconstruct your events, only find image files.

check the overall trash on the 'dock'.when files are deleted from programmes, they always go to the general 'Trash'  as general files and you will need to delete form there as well. if there is still a lot of missing files taking up space try reloading or deleting 'Iphoto' and uploading again.

  • HOW to recover photos from deleted iPhoto crying for help!!!

    PLEASE HELP MEEEEE!!!
i was so dumb deleted iPhoto (moved whole thing to bin) a month ago without realising it.
now I moved back iPhoto from the bin and trying to open it to get back all my photos.
but Ive update Ox s system before so for the old vision iPhoto 9.2.1 is no longer unable to open on my mac
anymore. there is a cross sign on iPhoto.
is there any way i can reopen iPhoto and get all my old pics back?????
please help me out of this.
    really appreciate.

Run software update from the AppStore. You need to update iPhoto to version 9.5.1. Launch the App Store and sign in with your AppleID from the "Store" menu. The update from 9.2.1 to 9.5.1 isa free update.
iPhoto needs to be installed in the Applications folder for the AppStore to see it.

  • IPhoto deleted, Please Help!

Hi. I accidentally deleted iPhoto off my computer and I put in the snow leopard cd and went to optional installs, but iPhoto is under the applications. Is there a way I can get this back since I am licensed to use this?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • When downloading photos from my camera, iphoto will unexpectedly quit. One help suggestion said to try deleting iphoto preferences, but I can't  find them.

Iphoto unexpectedly quits while I am downloading photos from my camera. I logged in under a different name and it worked fine, whcih was one suggestion in my handbook. If that worked, which it did, the book suggests deleting iphoto prefences. But where are Iphoto preferences? I have looked high and low and cannot find them. Any other ideas?  I have a boat load of photos in this primary user log in, so...maybe I need to increase iphoto's RAM, but how do I do that?

Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
What version of the OS? What version of iPhoto?
How many is a "boatload"? There's no way to "increase iPhoto's RAM"

  • Apps on old Apple ID. Can't access email but will I lose my pics if delete iPhoto and rebuy on new id?

When I bought my iMac, the Apple store helped me set it up (move everything from my p.c. to the Mac. To set up iPhoto, I used my original Apple ID which is now unusable due to changing my email address. I kept the password the same so I could always get into it but it won't work now.
Most of the apps I bought on my original apple id I have deleted since I cannot update them. Now that I have to update iPhoto and can't, I am worried. If I delete iPhoto to buy again on my 5 year old "new" Apple ID, will I lose all my pictures, videos, etc?
What is the work around for this? Losing my pictures is not an option but if I cannot use iPhoto due to upgrading to Yosemite, then what?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

First, try the new password.  If you didn't sign out of iCloud prior to changing the primary email address of your Apple ID, this is what can cause this problem.
Also, read this: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support

  • I deleted iphoto app.how do i download new iphoto

all of my applications have been deleted, system preferences is gone too ,i have downloaded Safari and itunes. i need iphoto my installation disc is not appearing any wehere on my screen, help!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you have deleted iPhoto, you have to reinstall it. If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Applications DVD or the Mac OS X Install Disc 2, and install iPhoto. After installing it, open  > Software Update to install the most recent version. If you haven't got the DVDs, call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If your Mac didn't come with DVDs or you purchased iPhoto from the App Store, open App Store > Purchases, and download iPhoto for free

  • Can I delete iPhoto library and iPhoto in 10.10.3?

After upgrading to OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, I can use Photos.app instead of iPhoto.app.
The thing is, there are two photo libraries in my finder. So can I delete iPhoto.photolibrary without affecting my photos in Photos.photoslibrary?( I chose iPhoto library when setting up Photos.app)
Now given Photos.app, am I to understand that I can completely ignore iPhoto from now on and delete iPhoto.app from my mac?
Thanks for all the help! Really appreciate!

I have done just that, not sure in your case regarding the library's - I let Photos create its own library and not importing from iPhoto's, but I think which ever option you use when first starting Photos it will only use the Photos library after the initial import. Try moving iPhoto library to trash without emptying and open Photos, if all ok you can then delete.
I removed the iPhoto app as well gaining over 1.5 GB of space, also tracked down the other minor files in ~/Library/Caches and Preferences (plus a few other places) - but these are very small files and if you prefer can be left alone.
Lastly, if you delete iPhoto app you may get a prompt from App Store regarding reinstalling, read somewhere to stop that you need to remove any pkg files in Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts - if you do this last part make sure you only remove pkg files that contain "iphoto" in the description!

  • IPhoto '08:"iPhoto Help" no longer "helps"

    Hi All:
I was looking for some help understanding some of the new editing functions in iPhoto '08, when I clicked on the "Help" menu in iPhoto, and then clicked on "iPhoto Help" submenu.
A small "iPhoto Help" window opened, but when I clicked on any of the subheadings in it, the subhead would be underlined briefly, and then the entire window would close. WHen I would try to run a search, nothing would be found; no matter what the search, even for something like "red eye," which I know is in there.
It seems like my iPhoto help function has been corrupted. In any event, it no longer works at all.
I remember there being a similar problem with the Mac Help in Tiger and there was a way to delete certain files and, in effect, rebuild the Mac Help function.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know of a solution? Any and all help will surely be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    JDee

    Joe:
I know not if it was one of your suggested solutions -- the first of which I tried, the second of which I had already tried and the third of which I considered trying but did not -- or your calm, mellifluous manner of assistance, but regardless of the specifics, my issue is, indeed, solved. And you, mon ami, deserve the +ad hoc ergo propter hoc+ credit. Everything's working as it should, at least on the new MBP. The world, well that's an entirely different story, but at least there's change on the horizon, change I can believe in. Until then....
    Thanks, brah.
    Mahalo.

reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only
For more information  <a href="http://www.macworld.com/article/132243/2008/02/pacifist.html"> click here for the MacWorld article on reinstalling OS X applications.</a>
9.1. is an update and can only be installed if you have purchased iLife '11 on DVD or iPhoto '11 from the App store - and iPhoto '11 will not run on OS 10.5.8 - or 10.5.1

  • Can I recover my photos after deleting iphotos library but restoring it back?

I deleted iphotos by mistake and then restored it back in trash, i still have not recovered my photos. I have two iphotos libraries now: one opens and is empty, the other does not open (its icon is different, it's kind of a white file). Is there any way I can recover my photos or are they just lost forever?

    and
If you depress the option key and launch iPhoto what does it show?
    and please explain
I tried opening the libabry of the restored iphotos but it doesn't let me choose it.
we know nothing except what you tell us so details are critical - including versions of iPhoto and the OS - your exact workflow (general statement that things don't work with no detail like the one referenced above are no help - to determine why something does not work we need to know eactly what you did and how)

  • I deleted iPhoto but need it back.

I deleted iPhoto out of frustration when my iPod would open it when I didn't want it open. Now I want it back, but it's not in my purchases or on my hard drive. my TM application isn't set up yet, so I can't use that to get it back. How can I get my iPhoto back without purchasing again?
Also, the App Store says that it is in my purchases when I know it isn't. Help? Please???

If you originally got it with your computer and received no restore disks then simply go to the App store using the Apple ID you registered teh computer under, go to purchased and download again
