I deleted my mac App Store - how do I reinstall it if I just updated software to 10.6.8?

I deleted my mac App Store - how do I reinstall it if I just updated software to 10.6.8 and it wasn't installed with it?

By running the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo updater, and using Pacifist on it if that doesn't work.

I deleted the mac app strone on my computer and I somehow can't get it back

It is likely you simply dragged it away from your Dock. Is that possible?
Find the App Store in your Applications folder.
From the Finder menu, Go > Applications. Drag the App Store icon to the Dock.

Use Recovery Mode or Safe Mode (hold down Shift as you Restart) to launch Disk Utility and (Repair disk). While you are up, (Repair Permissions) as well.

  • Mac App Store keeps asking for my wife's account to update software but she no longer has an account on my iMac.

My wife used to have an account on my iMac and then she deleted her account when she no longer needed it. Now I cannot update three software packages in the Mac App Store. Software update keeps telling me updates are available but when I try to update them, I get a message that I need to sign on using my wife's account and apple id. I am the only user on my iMac and I am an administrator. Why can't I update the software? I do not want to have to add my wife's account back on my iMac and I should not have to.

From where did you delete it - the Dock or the Applications folder? If the former then locate the application in the Applications folder and drag the icon to the Dock. If the latter, download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

Another way is to open your Time Machine back up or clone (if you have one) and copy the App Store app from the /Applications to your Macintosh HD's /Application folder.
Right click on the Time Machine icon in the Menu Bar.
Select Enter Time Machine; then navigate to a date you know it was still there and copy if from the /Applications folder.

    Install the v10.6.7 combo update.

Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
It's ok to do this even if you are already running v10.6.7.

    Hi...
See if it's, "hidden"  >>   Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • I Deleted the mac app store because of error 4 and i cant download it with software update

I Deleted the mac app store because it showed error 4 and I cant download it with software update.

I guess you have no time-machine or carbon copy cloner backup at hand.. then you will go a manual way.
Mac AppStore is included in 10.6.6 first and a updated better version ( the latest ) is in 10.6.7, so I focus on the later :
Use the shareware ( works without paying , nag screen only ) called "pacifist" . Locate the 10.6.7 update package on your harddisk, mount the dmg, go inside and right-click the installer package, it wil offer you top open it with pacifist instead of Apples OS installer.
Inside pacifist you can see the various sub-packages, one item is the Mac App Store, select it and choose "install to default location" from pacifists menu.
This way you bypass the OS' logic that it is already up to date and will find AppStore in your Applications folder.
Note that this scenario is totally unsupported by Apple of course and you do it on your own risk.
The official way if you have messed up the OS and have removed parts of it, would be to wipe and reload OSX plus its updates to be back..

  • In the new mac app store how do you limit displayed applications only to os x applications.

In the new mac app store how do you limit displayed applications only to os x applications. I do not have Iphone or ipad so all the phone junk is annoying and one cannot find the relevant software.

The Mac App Store only has apps for Mac OS X. There are no iOS apps.
The iOS apps for iPhones, iPods and iPads, are in the iTunes App Store.

Any possible solutions on how to fix this issue?

Sometimes there are just server problems with the App Store. Only thing that I can offer is to wait a day or so and try again and, if still no luck, contact the App Store support folks - http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.

  • Mac App Store: How do I get a refund?????!!!!!

Ok, 5 days ago I purchased LEGO: Pirates of the Carribeen (on sale, if it helps). That night I stupidly closed my MacBook and the next morning I was back to square one. Just before the halfway mark I had to leave for 2 days (with my MB) and go to a place with... DUN DUN DUN... No Wifi. When I came back I thought I'd finish my download. 10 minutes later. Error 404 or something like that.. Maybe 403. Anyways, I had to retry. So I did. 5 Minutes later. Same again, but this time The App DISAPPEARED FROM MY PURCHASES LIST!!!!! I really want my money back but I don't know who to contact or how.
P.S I read in the Terms and Conditions that within 90 days I can get a refund so now I just need to know how.
    Thanks!!!
    yebbut

Changing your DNS server may help the error 403 issue.
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK
    Relaunch the App Store.

  • Suspect a software is pirated on Mac App Store, how to report to Apple?

Just found a planetarium software on Mac App Store called "Star Chart" which its screenshots look very very similar to the free open source software "Stellarium" (http://www.stellarium.org/), even the icon is exactly the same.
The problem is this "Star Chart" is selling at around US$ 20, and I suspect someone is trying to make money from copying a free software and posting it to App Store. Is there any way that I can tell Apple to look at this?
    Thanks!

Yes. There were numerous opportunities to create new accounts but I didn't want to do that. There isn't even an Apple Feedback option to complain about the lack of feedback for the Mac App Store.
You can't rid the world of criminals. But imagine if you called 911 and they told you that if you weren't the victim, then you couldn't call to report something.

  • I deleted my mac app store and now I don't know how to get it back? What do I do?

    Hello,
I recently tried to download a game from the app store and upon completion of the download I got an error regarding something to do with a "hash". Anyhow upon further researching on how to fix it, I found a solution which told me to download and install an app called "AppCleaner" and use it to clean/delete the app store.
Well, as a new mac owner I clearly didn't realize the consequences. While I did that and left the download for the night while I slept, I woke up to find that I had the game but I had lost the app store. I couldn't open it as I got a message saying something along the lines of "you can't open the app store because it's in the trash bin. Please move it from the trash bin" (paraphrasing). I checked my trash bin, and yes it appeared there, however the thumbnail for the app store had changed from the regular one to a picture of a piece of paper and pencil. Moving it to my desktop proved useless as it still didn't work. When I would run it from desktop, it would show up on the task bar at the bottom for about a second then leave.
I've already tried using the software update found in the menu from the apple in the top left as well as verifying disk permissions in the disk utility. I've also downloaded OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 Client Combo found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1484 to no avail. For your reference I'm using a 13" macbook pro bought brand new 4 days ago running OS X Lion 10.7.3. If there's anything I'm missing it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

hello , i did exactly the same thing , and my app store icon look like this :
