I deleted my partition but can't install Windows 8.1 any more.

I've deleted my Windows partition in disk utility, but now every time  restart my MacBook Pro (2012, 13 Inch) without holding down the option key and  it says your PC needs to be repaired and the wininstall file is missing even though ive deleted my whole partition. When I do hold down the option key I can't go into windows because I've deleted it but I still see the EFI Boot partition. Now I want to install a better Windows version but I can't because when I enter the serial it says it can't verify it.
I have an older backup of my disk from before all this happened, so I've tried to erase my disk but every time I rebooted holding command and R, but every time I tried my mac shut down while loading the Apple sign.
Please help!
Raoul

There are several possibilities.
1. You do not have contiguous free disk space.
2. BCA has failed, or you may have a Fusion drive which is causing problems.
3. You have incorrect permissions on the disk.
4. Can you boot in OS X Safe Mode - OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support?

  • Can't boot anything after deleting C partition in order to install Windows 8.1

I have a ASUS X55VD notebook, wich had a Windows 7 64-bit (and a dual booted Ubuntu, but with Windows bootloader). Yesterday I tried to install a Windows 8.1, so I inserted a disc and restarted.
The window to manually select the partition, on wich it will be installed, came up so I formated C partition where Windows 7 was installed. It did not allow me to install to that partition because, a new format (GPT) had to be used. So i chose to delete the
partition. Deleting was quite long, after wich the computer restated, and after that it only showed black screen.
The Windows DVD is still spinning, but nothing shows. Can't acces the BIOS (none of the keys work).
    Tried:
    - Hardware reset (battery out>hold power button fro 10-20 sec>put battery inside>start) - No change
    - Put a Live Linux DVD to boot from it - No change
    - Put a hirens boot cd - No change
    - USB boot - No change
    - Connect a external keyboard and tried accessing BIOS - Nothing happened
I would suffice with just gettng some of my data from him, and sending him to repair Can't tinker with harware, or it will void my varrancy
Please help. The problem is really urgent.

    Hi,
It seems a hardware issue, you can first try to reset the CMOS - remove the cell battery from the motherboard for at least half hour, re-insert it, boot up. The BIOS settings should be reset to defaults. But for better solution, I
     suggest you contact the manufacture.

  • Boot camp: partition created can't install windows

    I created a 63GB partition.
and during the bootcamp install it rebooted but never opened again and the Mac mini just spun and spun for a while and I then just reset it. though, the screen is black but I can hear the Mac spinning...I reset but this time use the OPTIONS button and it brings me to choices:
My HD, My time machine, windows, recovery, and EFI?
So DUH I choose windows and the screen goes blank, and the system just spins and spins.....
CAn I restart the Bootcamp assistant and jump back in at the INSTALL WINDOWS step?
    thanks in advance
    WINDOWS-7-64
MACMINI 2011, ( just bought it a few weeks ago)
    created the windows support software

So let me get this straigt, you went through the installation process for setting up windows7 using the bootcamp assistant.YES. IT CREATED A PARTITION AND AFTER IT FOUND THE WINDOWS INSTALLER AND DID IT'S THING IT SHUT DOWN.
i WAITED FOR IT TO WAKE UP AGAIN BUT THE SCREEN STAYED DARK BUT THE FAN JUST RAN AND RAN. SO AFTER 10 MINS. OR MORE I JUST HELD THE POWER BUTTON IN UNTIL IT SHUT OFF.
TURNED IT BACK ON WITH THE OPTION KEY HELD DOWN.
THE SCREEN OPENS WITH THE FOLLOWING ICONS: HD, TIME MACHINE, WINDOWS, EFI BOOT.
After the set up, you are not able to access windows7 when you start the mac holding down the option button at start up or reboot after selecting the windows os. WINDOWS DID NOT INSTALL.
I NEED TO GET INTO THE PARTITION AND INSTALL WINDOWS.
If you have not been able to acess win7 and have not had a chance to get it up and running with any personal info that would need backing up, just delete the win7 partion using boot camp assistant and start over. Yes, you will have to create your partition all over again, but all that is maybe on it is the basic install of win7.
Make sure you have installed the Windows support software.
WHEN I WENT BACK INTO THE BCA. THE ONLY OPTION WAS TO REMOVE WINDOWS-7. aFTER CLICKING CONTINUE....I SEE THE ICON OF MY HD TO RESTORE TO THE ORIGINAL SIZE...WHICH MEANS IT WILL REMOVE THE PARTITION AND EVERYTHING CURRENTLY ON MY HD NOW----RIGHT?
    THANKS FOR YOUR TIME MAN!

  • Can't install windows 8 on gpt partition

Hi, my laptop came pre-installed with windows 8.1 and it did't allow Fifa13 to run, then I deleted the partition and tried to install windows 7 ultimate because it allows Fifa 13 to run. When installing windows 8.1 it displays "windows
cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
Now my laptop is not starting at all. Please help me as I really need to use my pc.
    Thank you.

The question is a bit ambiguos. Kindly confirm do you see the error message while installing Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?
If you're instaling Windows 7 and seeing the error, you need to perform the following:
Turn off the PC, and put in the Windows installation DVD or USB key.
Boot the PC to the DVD or USB key in Legacy BIOS mode (or non-UEFI). For more info, see Boot
to UEFI Mode or Legacy BIOS mode.
From inside Windows Setup, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt window.
    Open the diskpart tool:
    diskpart
    Identify the drive to reformat:
    list disk
Select the drive, and reformat it:
    select disk <disk number>
    clean
    convert mbr
    exit
    Close the command prompt window.
    Continue the Windows Setup installation.
When choosing an installation type, select Custom. The drive will appear as a single area of unallocated space.
Select the unallocated space and click Next. Windows begins the installation.

  • Can I install Windows 7 in 13-inch MacBook Pro (2.7 ghz Dual Core i-7) without problem

Can I install Windows 7 without any trouble in Macbook Pro (2.7 Ghz Dual Core I-7) ?

Since I always look at Windows as a problem, I would have to say no.
But if you must then you need to create a partition with Boot Camp in which to install your copy of Windows 7. The Core I7 doesn't support XP or Vista.

  • Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air. In bootcamp i allocate the partition then i click install and bootcamp will not see the disk.

Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (on my MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air via remote disk. In bootcamp (on my air) i allocate the partition, then i click install, and bootcamp will not see the disk from my macbook pro's drive. How do i get the bootcamp assistant running on my MB air to automatically find the disk in my macbook pro with the ISO image of windows 7? The remote disk on my air can find the cd but bootcamp will not begin installing it. Anyway to do this without buying the damned usb drive?

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

  • Really Confused - Installed Win 7, but can't install the Mac OSX drivers

My fruit (MBP) is a early spring 2010 model with a 125 GB solid state HD. I partitioned the disc and installed windows without issue (64 bit). But now when I put the Mac OS X DVD into the drive and use the setup.exe it asks me about reinstalling Mac OS X on my Macbook Air. Granted, this laptop isn't anywhere near the weight of my PC laptop, but this is NO MacBook Air. I put the DVD in before and had it do the setup, but it didn't reboot or anything. I know the driver for the mouse is substandard if this is the appropriate driver for the mouse - it won't right click at all, nor will it scroll, and it's slow to click and quick to move.
I had to reinstall my Mac OS because some files couldn't be moved, and that's why my OS is the .5 version. I was surprised though when it was connected to the internet and didn't ask me to update everything known to man, including itunes, which I can't stand.
Do I need to go back to the Mac OS and install the updates for everything, including bootcamp? Will that allow it to work and recognize that I have a MBP? If so, how do I go back to it? Shut down the computer using windows, and then start it with the power button, and press something when it starts to boot up? If so, what do I press? I figure I could follow the instructions picking a partition to boot from, just need to get there. Thanks.

I let it go through the restarts to install windows and then I was putting in firefox + other minor programs, when I thought it was time to update the Mac side. So I went to the bootcamp icon in the control panel, cuz at that point I didn't know it was in the bottom right corner (thought it was going to be in the quicklaunch part of the taskbar) and selected the Mac OS and pushed restart. So it restarted using windows. And when the Mac OS updated and said it had to restart, it went back to windows. Really strange, but I'll see what happens after I download the second round of Mac updates. I think I'm also going to try the mini software that the other thread suggested.

I think the suggestion by JimHdk is fair simple. Most Internet services providing email offer a way to access email via a browser like Safari instead of using the Mail app. You start Safari, got to the webmail webpage, enter a user name and password and are provided with a list of waiting emails. You can read emails, reply to emails, delete emails and create new emails on those sites. This is a very common way for people who travel a lot and who encounter your problem, to access their emails.
If you don't know the website for your webmail contact your provider.

I'm getting a similar but distinct error message in snow leopard: Download could not continue. "The windows support software is not available" and have no original snow leopard instal disc with me.
Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

  • Can't install Windows 8.1 because the Bootcamp Assistant-partitioned disk is GBT and not MBR.

I can’t install Windows 8.1 because the Bootcamp Assistant-partitioned disk is GBT and not MBR, and attempting to format the bootcamp disk does nothing. I have read up on this issue, and the only solution seems to be to make a backup of my computer and reformat all disks via 8.1 setup terminal. I REALLY do not want to do that, is there any way to fix this? I’m on OS X Yosemite, if that pertains to the thread.

Interesting. It wouldn’t install because I had FileVault enabled. Huh. Disabling it saved the day.

Running iTunes 10.7 on Mac OS X 10.8.2. Downloaded but can't install iTunes 11.0.2. Why not, how can I & should I?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The latest iTunes version is 11.0.1 version. 11.0.2 does not exist. Have you tried opening Apple menu > Software Update and install iTunes 11.0.1? If it doesn't show up, you have already iTunes 11.0.1
