I devices - Iphone, Ipad connection speed very slo...

Has anyone any advice on how to maximise the connection speed between Iphones, Ipads etc... with the BT Home Hub 4.  The broadband speed to the house seems fine (7mbs DL). and any PC or MAC wireless device has great wifi connection.  BUT I simply have awful connection with any I device. They seem to hang on any wifi demand. I cant even listen to LBC!
I have contacted BT - but no advice given. I did not have this wifi issue with SKy - but moved as BB to house was traffic managed.
Cheers

If that doesn't work try g
iving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
Once you have done that "forget" the connection and then restart the phone and ipad and log onto both. They should then automatically switch to the strongest signal.
You'll need to connect your other devices that can use both frequencies to both SSids if you want them to be able to use both frequencies.

Try holding down CTRL as you launch iTunes to see if it will repair the drivers.
    Or try Cerbu's post here.
Or see TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, forcing a driver update.
Please let us know which approach works for you...

  • My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with the macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network though. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?

Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).
What I have to determine is what has changed in the setup...from when it WAS working just fine with all devices.

In short, you have a problem we can't solve.
I suggest you contact Apple support and make an appointment to get help.  Expect to pay for it.

  • "I have a 5th generation time capsule. All of my wifi devices (iPhone, iPad, macbook) worked fine until the other day when everything but my laptop stopped receiving a wifi signal.

"I have a 5th generation airpot extreme. All of my wifi devices (iPhone, iPad, macbook) worked fine until the other day when everything but my laptop stopped receiving a wifi signal. I shut down my Mac, unplugged the modem, router, let sit for 10 seconds, started it up and 'presto' everything worked.  Then yesterday all but the macbook stopped receiving wifi again.  I tried the same scenario as the other day but nothing.  I reset the airport extreme to factory settings and still nothing.  Is the airport extreme not working?

If it was not working the Mac would not get a signal. Restart the IOS devices and reconnect to the network

  • My devices iphone, ipad and itouch Cannot connect to itunes store?

My iphone, ipad and itouch are not able to get into itunes store.  It says cannot connect to itunes store.

This started happening when I had to change my apple user id to an email address.  This is what has been causing problems with others.  I called apple tech support & received help fixing it before, but it didn't permanently correct the problems.  I had to go through all these steps that took over 45 minutes.  Can't remember the steps so  I will be on the phone with them again to try & resolve

I know iPhoto is on its way out, but I would like to fix this until Yosemite and Photos arrive....
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Try this fix discovered by User photosb189:
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old), unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto.

  • Why can't iPad connection speed surpass 72/150 Mbs?

The iPad boasts 5 antennas. But It seems only 1 or 2 antennae are enabled to work. I put my iPad right beside the Airpot Extreme router, the connection speed via 802.11a/n at 5GHz never exceeds 72MB, no matter how close it is to the base station. My MacBook Pro 15-inch can achieve a speed of 270MB, and my Airport Express used to extend the range can also connect at 270MB.
Then instead of connecting my iPad to Airport Extreme, I connected it to Airport Express (being used as a bridge to extend the range). IPad at 802.11a/n can only achieve a maximum speed of 150 MB.
So I strongly suspect there is something wrong with the firmware of the 2 Apple Routers.

I think there needs to be an understanding of what the IEEE 802.11 standard says. The channel width for all bands is 20 MHz. The 2007 draft n-protocol allowed a channel width of 40 MHz. That was not adopted in 2009 when the n-protocol was approved. The standard now says, including the 40 MHz 2007 draft for the n-protocol:
Protocol / Bandwidth (MHz) / Transfer rate (Mbps)
    b / 20 / 5.5, 11
    g / 20 / 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 54
    n / 20 / 7.2, 14.4, 21.7, 28.9, 43.3, 57.8, 65, 72.2
    n / 40 / 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 135, 150
So, if you are getting a transfer rate of 150 Mbps your are under the 2007 draft 40 MHz channel width, not the final approved 2009 n-protocol.
The final approved protocol does not support that transfer rate.

  • Can no longer delete multiple emails from any device (iPhone/iPad)

I have updated software on all my devices iPhone 4S, iPad 2, Ipad3. I have attempted to delete multiple items by selecting the edit button and then selecting the desired emails to discard. After selecting only a couple of emails the emails to be deleted are unselected automatically and I can not delete them. Even when I attempt to swipe right to left if I am not fast enough my option to send to trash is unselected (automatically again) and I can not delete it. I have attempted a reset without successful resolution of the problem. Email inboxes are stacking up. Any assistance is appreciated.

Try a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • Iphone4 wont connect to home wifi connects to neighbors..others iphones ipads connect to this wifi cannot change it and cannot access apps store. Does nor request password just "cannot access"

Iphone 4 wont connect to home wifi but connects to neighbors open wifi.  Family members with iphones can connect to the wifi automatically and Mac compiuter in home connects to this wifi and this iphone did connect automaticcally until a few weeks ago.  Does not request password when try to connect to own wifi..just says "cant access.". Also cant access the Apple apps store to purchase apps but all other function operate normally. Apple store tech says nothing wrong with phone. It connected to their wifi and coud access apps store from their wifi.     This iphone belongs to son who is autistic.  I am mother trying to resolve this issue and very frustrated.  Have reset router but no change.

Based on the symptoms, your phone is fine, and the Router is the problem.   Try http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398.  Specifically the "forget this network" step.  I would also consider resetting the wifi network password.  Sometimes that will allow a connection.

Update: I only changed the startup type of the service DI Proxy, Event, Integration, and instead of putting 'Automatic' I selected 'Automatic (Delayed Start)'.
I rebooted the server and I was able to connect the iPhone via app to my DB: I was about an hour, I created BP, made changes, displayed report.
    I then did the logoff.
I tried to reconnect but nothing is returned the error 'Connection Failed - The request timed out. (-1001)'.
Even after restarting the server again, the app connects after about two minutes I get the error 'Connection Failed - The request timed out. (-1001)' and is no longer relates only after you restart the server.

  • TS3540 How to fix iTunes 11.0.4 (62) problem of won't connect or recognize iOS devices iPhones, iPads, iPod

It appears that there is a flaw in the Apple iTunes 11.0.4 (62) installer related to mobile devices and the USB port. The below fixed the problem for me.
The symptom was iTunes 11.0.4 (62) was not connecting to my son's iPodTouch 1st Generation. Many other iPad, iPods and iPhones are reporting having this problem on many different computers both Mac and Windows. >56,000 on Apple discussion forums.
The iPodTouch was recognized by the computer and would charge but iTunes would not recognize the iPodTouch.
All of our family's other iOS devices worked fine.
The problem is not the computer, the cabel, the OS or the device.
Apple's suggestions in various tech docs did not solve the problem in and of themselves. I had to go back down to the previous version to force the current version to reinstall properly:
Deleting iTunes 11.0.4 (62) and reinstalling did not solve the problem.
Deleting iTunes 11.0.4 (62) and installing iTunes 10.7 made Will's iPodTouch connect fine but then there were other problems.
Deleting iTunes 11.0.4 (62) and installing iTunes 10.7 and deleting iTunes 10.7 and reinstalling 11.0.4 (62) solved all problems.
To Reinstall iTunes: (from Apple docs)
    Quit iTunes
    Delete:
    /Applications/iTunes
    /System/Library/Extensions/AppleMobileDevice.kext
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig
    but do not delete com.apple.usbmuxd.plist
    Restart
    Reinstall iTunes version desired
Open iTunes to test and make sure iOS devices connect
    Restart
Open iTunes to test and make sure iOS devices connect

  • Macbook blazes at 30mps while all devices (iPhone, iPad) lag at 5-9mps on dual band network

Macbook pro is late 2011 model
I have experienced this problem on both a late 2011 Airport Extreme and a brand new one (2014)
I have manually changed channels on BOTH 5Ghz and 2.5Ghz, cycling through all the available channels
I have switched devices to use the 5Ghz only, 2.5Ghz only, automatic -- same problem on all configurations
Macbook blazes at 30mps (my service provider speed) on any configuration (5Ghz, 2.5Ghz, automatic mode)
It doesn't make sense that all handheld devices are going slow while the older Macbook Pro is experiencing the fastest speed. Also, I was surprised that the brand new Airport Extreme made no difference. I have used channels that are not in use by surrounding neighbors; no change. I can't think of anything that could be causing this only in my devices. Thoughts?

The MacBook has a larger and much better wireless antenna than any mobile device could ever hope to have.
Your performance is similar to what I get on a similar connection, unless I move the mobile devices 8-10 feet away from the router with clear line of sight. Then, I can sometimes get 15-18 Mbps on the iPad. The iPhone never gets much above 12-13 Mbps at the same location.
If you are near an Apple store, it might be interesting to take the iPhone and iPad down there to see how the connection looks.  But then again, you will likely be connecting to professional Cisco wireless routers at the Apple Store.
