I didn't change my password yet my macbook pro does not accept it.

I've been trying to log in to my macbook pro that I only bought this past black friday. I put in my password, and it didnt accept it. I didn't change my password either and I know no one else did because they would have to know my password. Is this a glitch? What can I do to fix it. As you can tell i'm very upset because I spent 1,000+ dollars on a computer that wont even let me in on the password that I set.

You can reset your password.

Someone changed the password for my MacBook Pro---and as the administrator I cannot go in and change it back...or least cannot figure out how to do it.  Is there some secret way to do it when blocked from the typical password change options?

    Hello apple support community,
I made changes in the single user mode and my MacBook Pro does now not boot anymore. It displays a grey bar and the "work in progress" wheel. My intention was to change my admin password following these steps:
    http://www.macyourself.com/2009/08/03/how-to-reset-your-mac-os-x-password-withou t-an-installer-disc/
however, I have to admit that there was a typo sneaking in - oops!
Any idea how I can undo changes made in the single user mode?
Thanks in advance for your support - I hope I don't sound to nooby

  • Someone changed every password of my Macbook Pro

Someone changed admin password and even used Firmware Password Protection. I can not access CD boot, drive target mode and booting with 'command+s'. Now I can use only limited guest mode. Is there any way to reinstall OS or reset? Thank you.

I think it is possible to change the firmware password by changing the amount of ram installed.
Of course the ordinary password can be using the OSX install disk.

  • HT3231 How do I change the password on a MacBook Pro that I bought secondhand??

My MacBook Pro keeps asking to update software, eg: Flash Player, and I can't install it because I don't have the User Password.
I bought the laptop secondhand from an Auction – the company that it belonged too has gone bust.
I also own an iMac 27" (2010) with all the relevant start-up disks, etc, and was wondering if I could use these to reboot my laptop

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime.
To boot from an optical disc, hold down the C key at the chime.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.

  • My 2011 MacBook Pro does not start and stop after the apple appear, they said that the problem is a video problem and need to change the logic board. Cost almost same to buy a new one. Somebody have the same problem?

I have a MacBook Pro early 2011. Does not start. After the apple show, a blank screen appear. The service said that the problem is with the video plaquue in the logic board. Need to change. Cost lmmost the same than a new MacBook Pro. Somebody has the same problem? What we can do?

I hate to break this to you, but life isn't fair. If your job is that critically in need of a computer, then you should have a spare to use for just this kind of situation or have your employer provide you with a computer to use.
Computers break down, just like cars. If your car breaks down do you curse the car maker or get it fixed? Surely, you paid more for your car than the computer.
This is reality. Best get used to it because it won't get any better.

  • What do I do if my new macbook air does not accept my password even if I've tried more than a few times?

    Hi there,
Just bougiht a new macbook air and the start up screen is not accepting my password even though I have typed it in a few times and correctly. I have already used this mac previously for 2 days and have added microsoft office today but this is the first time I have logged in since the installation.
I don't understand why the password isn't being accepted. Could it be the installation? Or do I need to reset my macbook air?
Just a note, I'm not proficient using a Mac.This is my first macbook.
    Many thanks for the help.

You can reset your password with the install cd or usb ...
Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator account needs a password reset. "Original" administrator account refers to the one that was created immediately after installing Mac OS X. If the original administrator password is known, that administrator account may be used to reset the passwords of other administrator accounts using the steps described above. These steps require an optical drive; if your Mac does not have an optical drive and you have a Mac OS X v10.6 Install disc, see below.
Start up from a Mac OS X Install disc (one whose version is closest to the version of Mac OS X installed).  Usually, you can start from the disc by putting it in your computer, restarting, and holding the C key. Or, put it in the computer and click the Install or Restore icon you see in the disc's main window (after which the computer will start from the disc without you needing to hold C). Or, you can use Startup Manager or the Startup Disk preference pane to select the Install disc.
Choose a language, click the arrow button to continue,
Mac OS X v10.6 or later: Choose Password Reset from the Utilities menu.
Mac OS X v10.5 or v10.4: Choose Reset Password from the Utilities menu.
Mac OS X v10.3: Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu.

  • MacBook Pro does not requiring password every time

My new MacBook Pro (Late 2013 Retina) does not requiring password every time (ver. 10.9.2).  It is set to require a password and it does most of the time but it often does not.  I have seen some posts of other people having this issue but have not seen any fix?

You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.
#1 - You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer with no questions asked.
#2 - You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support.
#3 - You have the standard one year Apple warranty.
#4 - If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, your warranty last for 3 years.   You can obtain AppleCare anytime up to the first year of the purchase of your computer.
Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

It's "broken" as in "insecure". It's not useless, but, these days, it's the next thing to useless.
you should use either WPA or WPA2
Absolutely. As the KB article indicated by Linc Davis says
"Do not use WEP unless it is the only Wi-Fi security type that your device supports, and be aware that it is now very unsecure."

  • My address book on my MacBook Pro does not include changes made to my iCloud address book.

I have an iCloud account and use an iPhone and my MacBook Pro for my calendar and addressbook.
When I make changes to the addressbook from my iPhone, they appear on iCloud (from Safari) but do not synch with the addressbook on my MacBook Pro.
This just began to happen this week (August 10, 2012).
    Any ideas?

Thanks for linking your Address Book Accounts Basics (with iCloud). And for all your forum contributions - invaluable!
A possible tip to add is the obscure option key solution to the question: to what groups does the selected contact belong? When the option key is depressed all associated groups are displayed.
On syncing: is there an Applescript or utility that will audit every linked iCloud account, Mac and iOS device for discrepancies between the Contacts databases? I thinking of the simple case like ours, where we want everything stored in the iCloud Account once-only-once, plus whatever Group-ings are useful. Even better - a script or utility that will force synchronization across all our devices and iCloud?
Another useful tip might be: here are all the things you must do to achieve simple syncronycity - everything the same everywhere, no private contacts. That is probably what 99.99% of users want, and it is not documented anywhere. Even Joe Kissel's Take Control of iCloud v1.3 doesn't address this.

Well, so i must buy a HD for my MAC? Are ther any possibilities to keep the information from my HD?
You might try downloading Ubuntu as a "live" CD, booting into it and seeing if your HD is accessible, and, if it is, you can copy the data to another external drive. if the failure is a circuit board, you probably won't be able to access the HD.
If you can boot into the Leopard DVD by holding down the "C" key with the DVD inserted, you can also check your HD, but if the system won't boot at all, it's time to take it to Apple for service.
Also, I would like to ask you why it could had happened, normally it happens?
Sadly, it's perfectly "normal" for mechanical things such as HDs, appliances, car engines, etc. to fail.
Why even we humans eventually go
    Regards,
In general a failure like this is not a complete failure. You may find most of your HD data are intact, but while the computer is being serviced, I would install a new, larger HD anyway.

  • Change password on the first use - does not work

Change password on the first use - does not work.
Created a user and specified 'Change password on the first use' - when user logs in - the 'Change password' window does not pop- up.
    Please advise.

(APEX 4.0.2) I am running into this same issue - if you don't set the password expiration and locking to 'Yes', the user gets into the app without being asked to change the pw.
When you do set expiration and locking - after the user logs on with their temporary password, it does take them to the change password page (4155:50) but the username is blank. Because the username didn't get to the page the old password will never match and you get the "Invalid password" message.
What am I missing? Anyone successful doing this?
Simple application, default authentication, no javascript, HTTP_SERVER, no ssl.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hello farahani hairon nizar,
If your Apple ID was changed from your old account, you may have to change it back to your old account to be able to sign out and then change it back after that is done. Take a look at the article below for more information.
