At least with this first version there is no direct support for P2 media, but don't despair. I've been using P2 media with Final Cut Pro for three years. I have been using Raylight for Macintosh with good results. Raylight for Mac allows direct import of MXF P2 Media into Final Cut (in fact, any program that can work with QuickTime files for that matter. So basically it allows you to skip the Log and Transfer process and simply import QuickTime Proxy files insteas.
I keep all my master media in P2 card folders, one per shoot. Here's my workflow: 1. Shoot with Pansonic HPX170. 2. Transfer P2 media to folder on a RAID-1 hard drive using Panasonics P2CMS utility with verify option turned on, 3. Run Raylight for Mac to create QuickTime Proxy Files, 4. Import QuickTime Proxy Files into Final Cut Pro.
I've tested this today with Final Cut Pro X and it seems to work, but Final Cut Pro X is so new I would not do any mission critical projects with it yet. I'm doing some short throwaways right now to learn how it works, but bread and butter work will continue to be done with Final Cut Pro 7.x for quite some time.

I think your problems were solvable and not that the Sonnet card and 5,1 is not bootable, in fact the 5,1 is easier, there are more supported cards.
I have the 1,1 where the Sonnet Pro is recommended but for data only and are not bootable because of the 32-bit EFI firmware. NOT the 4,1 and 5,1. The 2008's are problem child and have a mix of PCIe 1.1 slots, first implementation of EFI64 that also has problems. Also the 4,1 has two PCIe 2.x slots 3 and 4 that share a controller but that simply limits bandwidth.
I would have left the TRIM support and NVRAM changes in Yosemite to a separate thread if you wanted to focus on the Sonnet Tempo Pro support in Mac Pro 2010-12 5,1s.
Also the make of SSD can vary and they also have their own firmware as do bootable controllers along with the EFI of the Mac, all of which have to work together. Meaning it might be that Samsung 840 va 840 EVO vs 840 Pro will all be slightly different but my experience is Samsungs work well (as do others like Crucial with the proper firmware - and there was/is an issue with the firmware of the Samsung 840 but not with booting).
The PCIe card gets seen and treated as external and therefore 'eject' but of course you can't when it is the system boot drive.
One thing I found last week and meant to mention: After installing or changing PCIe cards, RESET SMC made all the difference in the world with the long boot delay. Some PCIe cards will add a few seconds, system has to search the device tree which now shows another controller with multiple devices - and sometimes NVRAM and SMC are what I will call "dirty" and need to be rebuilt and reset.

You should be able to play most videos with QuickTime player once both are installed.

Any solution for Panasonic Raw files and/or DNG support?

Hi folks - in addition to my Nikon cameras I shoot with a Panasonic LX3 and soon a GF-1 - and so far I haven't had any luck getting any sort of raw files from the panasonics to be read by Aperture. I had thought that with Apple's DNG support that there would be a way to convert the files to DNG and then import, but so far I have had no luck.
I realize that the GF1 is brand new, but the LX3 is over a year old and supported by all of Apple's competitors. I really don't want to switch to lightroom, but it is getting harder and harder to stick with Aperture.

I appreciate the pointer to the AI article, but personally I'm more interested in whether Apple is working on adding additional RAW support for Aperture/Mac OS X any time soon, and certainly before Aperture 3 is out. Both Aperture 2 and Lightroom 2.5 are more than capable for my workflow and editing needs.
This week only added to my dismay re: Aperture v. Lightroom update likelihood and frequency; still radio silence from Apple, and Adobe releases a public beta of Lightroom 3, even as Lightroom 2 was released subsequent to Aperture 2 and has had more updates since its initial release than Aperture 2.
Brian, can you elaborate on the DNG conversion process that worked for you? Having tried every possible profile (I believe) in the latest release of the DNG Converter app, I have to say I'm skeptical that there's a setting that works with the GF1. But I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised!

Your Java player (if relevant) is not clearly indicated in your plugins list, and your Flash player is several versions behind. If Apple has an update site, you might check that first. Mozilla's site is here: http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/
