I do not get 12 hours of battery

Hello. I just purchased my 13 inch "Early 2014" Macbook Air about 4-5 days ago. I never maxed out at 12 hours as advertised, during the time that I've had this computer.
It seems to be 9 hours at best. This is still new so I do not have a bunch of weird settings, all of my settings are still the default apple settings except the one that makes the screen/keyboard bright in dim light. I have disabled that to save battery. This is not my first Macbook, so I've done other things like turning off bluetooth and keeping the brightness below half and I only use Safari not Firefox or Chrome because they drain the battery I read.
Anyways why do I not have 12hours? I've read where even some MBPs have over 12 hours! Here are my specs:
Macbook Air 13 Inch
Manufacture Date: June 30 2014
Max Charge: 7109 mAh, Design capacity: 7150 mAh, 9.2 Watts
Load Cycles: 10
OX S Battery Status: Good
Battery Temperature: 30.7ºC Temp.

OSX Battery Status: Good
Battery Temperature: 33.1ºC
Battery Failure: None
Charging with: 11.0 Watts
Power Adapter: 45 Watts
MacBook Air
Manufacture Date: June 30, 2014
Age: 17 Days
OS X Mavericks
All I usually do is surf the web using Safari. I have Mail app open, and if I'm feeling risky I will launch iTunes or the Twitter app. Also on Safari I'm usually on Facebook, Reddit, message boards and infrequently, YouTube. It's not like I stream content all day, my internet is abysmal to the point I can only watch 144p videos.
I have no idea why I can't get 12 hours out of this computer, I've tried timing it with my iPhone from the moment I disconnect. I usually end up charging this Macbook Air at least twice a day. I will wake up to a full charge and it will need to be recharged in the afternoon and again before I go to bed. The condition is listed as "Good" so what do I do? Is this like the iPhone where the only way to actually achieve 12 hours is to basically do nothing on it?

It says:
The 11-inch model gets up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge and the 13-inch model gets up to 12 hours.
This means once you reduce your energy usage to a barest minimum, then the battery could last up to 12 hours. But that life goes down with any increase in energy usage.
However, if you feel there is a problem, then take it back to have it checked out.

  • Not getting the advertised battery life on Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013

Hello world, This is my first time on the forum and I finally have a question to post lol.
So I just got Macbook Pro Retina and its only like 1 month old and Ive been getting really crappy battery life.
Im only getting about 4 hours and 35 mins on a full charge not the advertised 9 hours like Apple says.
What should I do to bring it to that?

Depends on what you are using.

Hi i received the nano 7th gen for Christmas and I only seem to get 5 hours of battery life. I use the Bluetooth and Nike app so I expect more drain on the battery.  But I got more time out of running with my iPhone. Does this sound normal? I thought I should get close to 30 hrs of just play time alone.
ALso, my wife got me the Belkin armband to run with the nano but I sweat through the band resulting in the back of the iPod to get wet. Surely this is not good. Anyone have a recommendation for an armband that keeps moisture away from the pod?

iPod Nano are small and they don't use Wi-Fi access so you get less power time on a Nano. As for iPhone, since you got apps, Wi-Fi + 3G access, and everything else, they give you more time so you can keep using. Nanos are ment to listen to music, listen to radio, view your photos, watch videos (without Wi-Fi) and since you got BlueTooth on the nano, it counts as wireless access so it drains your battery faster.

  • My new iPod nano does not get the battery life that is advertised

Help me my iPod nano does not get the battery life that is advertised

Which battery life are you referring to? Apple's website states the iPod Nano 6th Gen will get "up to 24 hours of music playback when fully charged". There are going to be a lot of things that can change that. Are you using the stopwatch or the count down timer a lot? Are you using the FM radio a lot? Any accessories that you are using with the iPod? These will all have an effect on your battery life.

  • I can only get about 1 1/2 hours of battery power out of my ipod 5g

I have had my ipod 5g for 6 months and in those 6 months I have only been able to get 1 and a half hours of battery power out of it once or twice when it's not in my car on charge. My old ipod which was a 500 song 4g (I think) was able to last 7 hours. How can I get my new ipod to have the same amount of battery life.

The problem is not with the Xcode project folder hierarchy. Your problem is a flaw in the Mac version of SDL 1.2. When you add image files to an Xcode project, Xcode places them in the Resources folder of your application bundle. But the Mac version of SDL 1.2 sets the working directory to the directory containing the application bundle so your game can't find the image files.
There are two ways to solve the problem. The manual way is to go into your game's app bundle and move the image files from the Resources folder to the directory containing the app bundle. Select your app, right-click, and choose Show Package Contents to access your game's app bundle. The better way is to change the working directory to the app bundle's Resources folder. To change the working directory, open the SDLMain.m file and modify the setupWorkingDirectory: method. The following code sets the working directory to the app bundle's Resources folder:
    NSString *resourcePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath];
    [[NSFileManager defaultManager] changeCurrentDirectoryPath:resourcePath];
SDL 2 fixes a lot of annoyances with setting up SDL on OS X. You should look into it.

    - First I would remove and reinstall all the Apple software using the following and then restoring the ipOd.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Next see if manually placing the iPOd in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:

    - Next try DFU mode:

Jailbreaking violates the Apple warranty and licensing agreement and voids ALL support from Apple.  No one on here can help you as doing so is a violation of the Terms of Use of these Communities.  If you send the iPad to Apple they will just send it back to you as they are not permitted to work on a machine that has been jailbroken.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
It is a good idea to run the new MBP through several calibration cycles, instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
The calibration helps your computer know when the battery really is low, otherwise it will keep more charge available than it needs to when it shuts down so that it doesn't have to shut off after going to sleep.
Here's another article about helping the MBP last longer when running on battery:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3557
Apple says this about their battery life claims:
    About Apple battery life claims
Published battery life is based on a light duty test that involves wirelessly browsing various websites and editing text in a word processing document with display brightness set to the middle setting.
The more intensive the usage of a computer, the faster the battery will drain. For example, while a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) used as described above can get up to 9 Hours of battery life, the same MacBook Pro computer continuously playing DVD movies with the display set to full brightness will drain the battery more quickly.
Hopefully this will help you get more enjoyment out of your computer.
    Best wishes. Joel.

This isn't an issue. Notice the screen prior to the one that shows usage has an iCloud section and a Manage Storage button. For this button to activate ios needs to download a few kb from icloud. Switching back to this screen forces ios to download those few kb.

That's most likely because it hasn't gone through then. Perhaps the device is no longer powered on, no longer has an internet connection or has been wiped.

I already tried rebooting, and I tried hooking it up to itunes as well, no luck there either.

    Try to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.  It won't delete your data.
When you say reboot, do you mean you pressed the home and sleep button at the same time until it restarted?
