I do not have a file icon in itunes

I just installed itunes and want to add songs but i do not have a file icon on my itunes page

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you do not see a main menu in iTunes (like the one in the screenshot below) which includes the "File" menu, you may need to turn on the menu.
To turn on iTunes menus in Windows 8 or 7, do one of the following:
Press the Alt key.
This will turn the menus on and off temporarily. This will change back to the default, the iTunes menus being turned off, when you next close iTunes.
To keep the iTunes menus active, change the setting by selecting the Menu icon in the upper-left, and then selecting Show Menu Bar. Alternatively, you can press Control-B.

This problem is on my laptop running Vista ( Business) on Adobe 10.0 , for many years I did NOT have a problem with this . No forum Pages on this.
Also i would like to know how screen readers can better interact with PDF as my wife has difficultys on some email attachments on her laptop , again there seems no easy avenue for someone in her situation surfing websites and forums for Hours maybe ok ok for sighted people, but not if you are blind & use a screenreader. No Support Help from Adobe is available.

In CS6 my created and then saved jpegs do not have the same icon as jpegs I receive from others. When attached to email they don't actually attach but appear embedded in the email and vertically squished. Any ideas?

It could be as simple as having two different file extentions jpg vs jpeg. As for the emails, that may depend on how you are attaching them to the email.
In most email programs you can open a new document then choose file attach or file import. Former would be attachments or links and the latter would be embedded.
On windows systems you can also send images to the email app, in the explorer right clicking and sending would open a small app that will resize the image to reduce the file size. This app could in theory squish the image.

After yesterday installing the latest itunes upgrade 11.1.5.5 my CD drive is no longer recognized. I do not have the file afs.sys on my computer which is supposed to cause the problem. Any ideas?

I yesterday installed the latest itunes upgrade to version 11.1.5.5. After doing so my computer no longer recognizes my cd drive Device manager states that windows cannot load the device driver, the device driver may be corrupted or missing. When I have tried to renew the driver it states the latest one is installed. I do not have the file afs.sys on my computer which is quoted as the file which causes optical drives to disappear. Any ideas

Hi, I've managed to get my CD & ipod working now but it wasn't easy. Maybe this will help you fix it.
This is what I did:
The problem: OS Windows 8.1 - was working ok with itunes (not sure which version). Upgraded to 11.1.5.5 and my old ipod stopped being recognised by itunes. As I had just bought a new ipod touch 5G I didn't pay too much attention however I soon realised that the new ipod wasn't recognised either. I uninstalled iTunes & reinstalled but that didn't fix it. I found a technote (see below) that says how to get get your ipod reconised. That worked but on a a reboot I realised that there was no CD drive appearing in windows.
It now works & this is what I did to fix it:
Went through the apple technotes on CD issues & looked a the Gear website
Looked for afs.sys file but didn't have that
The registry settings for device filters looked the same as the technotes
Device manager for CD said there were problems in the registry
I backed up the itunes folder (I was planning on a clean install & rebuilding itunes from scratch however most people want to keep their data)
I uninstalled itunes but that made no difference
I rolled back to the a system restore point that had been created not long before the upgrade to 11.1.5.5
The CD drive was now OK again
I went into Windows update and ran the updates that were available - one was for intel chipsets
I created a system restore point as a precaution
I found the registry key that is mentioned in the technotes to do with CD problems and device filters and backed it up separately as a precaution
I ran itunes (x64) 11.1.5.5
itunes asked me if I wanted to repair or uninstall - I uninstalled
I rebooted
I ran install for itunes 11.1.5.5
itunes installed ok & the CD was still there
ipods were not recognised
I followed the instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 to update the driver
5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed - For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver
I now have a CD drive & iTunes recognises my ipod again - phew

Try:

I assume you were are an ex-MobileMe subscriber who has had the complimentary extra storage which is due to expire very shortly. Unfortunately you cannot purchase your storage without being able to access the iCloud preference pane, and to do that you would have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion.
If you have more than 5GB of data present when Apple pulls the plug, then Apple say:
If the storage you're using in iCloud exceeds the total storage available, iCloud Backup, Documents in the Cloud, and iCloud Mail will temporarily stop working. To resume using these features, you can either reduce the amount of iCloud storage that you're using, or purchase a storage plan with a larger amount of storage than you're currently using.
You have two choices. One is to go to http://icloud.com and clear out as much as you can. Certainly all contacts and calendars, and as much mail as you can manage. Since you have not been able to sync with iCloud you cannot have accumulated all that much data.
The other is to find a way of purchasing extra storage (you can do this even after the expiration and if you don't leave it too long you may be able to retain all your data) either by finding someone with a compliant Mac or an iOS5/6 device who can let you do this, or by upgrading your Mac - it it meets the requierments.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.

What Mac OS X do you have? ICloud requires 10.7.2 or higher. Then the iCloud icon is in System Preferences.

Mailbox does not have a send icon

After configuring my mail in settings, my mailbox does not have a send icon, nor can i compose and or send a message.
I have 4 other email accounts set up on this phone and they all function properly except for one.

If your iPhone is already on IOS 5, then Software update can be done on your iPhone under Settings > General > Software Update.
But if your iphone's ISO is 4 or before, it can only be done through your computer iTunes.

Probably you removed it from the Dock. To see if Launchpad is still in your computer, open a Finder window, choose "Applications" in the sidebar and look for Launchpad. If you find the icon, drag it to the Dock (the bar you can see at the bottom of the screen) so you can access to it easily.

You cannot delete the App Store or any of the pre installed apps. It is on your iPad somewhere, but it may be hidden.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable installing apps.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!
