I do not have a HDMI hook up
I just purchased an Apple TV. Since my TV is older, it does not have an HDMI hookup. What can I do?
Unless there is a cable box that can act as an HDMI switch, the answer is no.
(Cable box HDMI connections are usually output only not inputs to show signals through their other outputs).

How can I connect my 3gen apple tv with HDMI to my BUSH LCD32TV022HD
This does not have an HDMI port but does have:-
1) S-Video I/P,
2) Video I/P,
3) Audio Input (Left & Right)
4) Audio In jack (for VGA and DVI source)
5) DVI input
6) VGA inputWelcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV doesn't officially support a DVI connection, however you may be able to get it to work. You will first need to check that your TV supports either 720p or 1080p as well as HDCP. If you are able to get the video working over the DVI connection, you may also require a DAC in order to connect with Apple TV's optical audio output to the TVs audio imput.
You may well wish to make sure that the DVI connection works before spending any money on a DAC.. -
i just purchased the apple tv, i have an older tv that does not have an HDMI input. is there a converter i can get because the itv only have an HDMI output ? help.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p. -
My HD TV has two HDMI inputs which are being used by a home theater system and my RCN cable box. i want to be able to use my appleTV as well as those but do not have another HDMI input. How can i connect it so that i can use any 1 of the 3 at any time?
Get an HDMI switcher. Plug in the ATV directly to the TV and then use the switcher on the other input.

My tv does not have a HDMI port, but my cable digital box does can that work?
So my tv is a LCD Monitor and it does not have a HDMI entrance, but I am using a a digital box for my cable which does have a HDMI cable. Is there a chance by connecting it to the digital box I can get it to work. If not, what are my options to make my Apple TV to work? I already bought it.
Will this guaranteed work?

I purchased an apple tv and hdmi adapter, but then realized my tv does not have an hdmi connection, is there an adapter I can purchase?
Yes. Get an adapter from the mini display port to HDMI and connect the HDMI cable to the TV. For audio you will need a separate connectors from you audio output port to the RCA connectors on the back of your TV. Use an extension and a 'Y' connector. If you MBP is a 2011 model then it will also transfer audio and a separate cable is not needed.

I just got an Apple TV (the newest black one) and I have an older Pioneer HD TV. I noticed that I don't have a HDMI port on the TV and only a USB connection. My question is, can I still hook up the AppleTV to my TV with other connection wires and will it still allow me to use my ITunes music, photos and Netflix with the same picture and sound quality?
Thank you!Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV will not work over USB, the only type of connection supported is HDMI. -
How can I connect Apple tv to a digital projector that does not have an HDMI connection?
I work in an elementary school library where we have 6 macs and 11 iPads. I want to be able to share the output of each of these machines with Apple TV on a digital projector which does not have HDMI capability. How can I do this? I had been using an app called Refector with limited success.
Open a program and drag the window over to the tv. You are using extended display mode.

I have the first generation of the silver macbook (with the black keyboard- before it went to macbook pro). I have been watching movies from my computer onto my TV via a HDMI cable. For awhile now I have been trying to get the sound from my computer to go onto my TV, but I do not have the option of HDMI on my computer. I was wondering if anyone knew why or what I do when I do not have that option. Thank you!
With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. -
i do not have an apple tv yet but i want one cause i already have an iPad 3 IPod 2,3,4 IPhone 6 and im planning on getting an IPad air
I know the apple tv requires an hdmi cord but i only have a av-composite tv i think, all i know is that my tv has the yellow one for video for video and red and white for audio but what i am really wondering is if i got an av-composite to HDMI cord if the apple tv would still show up on the screen and workAnalogue (component, composite etc)

DAC
Most types of HDMI to non HDMI connectors or converters won’t carry audio, in such cases you may also need to convert your optical output to an analogue signal using a DAC.
DAC (Example Only - Not a recommendation or suggestion that this is suitable in your circumstances) -

How can I see my iPad on the tv?
VGA does not carry an audio signal.
As stated aboove, you will need a cable to plug into the headphone jack to the TV. -
Can I use Apple TV on a LG ru-60PZ61 HDTV it dose not have HDMI plug
Can I use Apple TV with a LG RU-60PZ61 TV it dose not have a HDMI plug
I've read that it can be done, but you need converters which can be expensive and not without issues of their own. If you do an Internet search or a search in this forum you'll find lots of info about it. Here is one such discussion .

I have an apple tv but an old tv that doesenr have a hdmi spot
I bought an Apple TV and I want to hook it up to my old TV but my TV does not have an HDMI outlet what can I do
It only officially supports HDMI. A widescreen TV is needed to avoid aspect ratio issues unless the TV can compensate.
Does the TV have DVI in? There are some HDMI to DVI plus analogue audio adapters but I've never used one.
Other adapters may output composite/stereo or component video/stereo but as converting digital to ananlogue they will reduce quality and are usually not officially endorsed.

Can Quicken for Windows work on a Mac w/Lion installed using Parallels?
I've never used Parallels but am panicking with the phaseout of the already anemic Quicken for Mac 2007. Has anybody used the more powerful Windows version of Quicken on a Mac through Parallels or some other PC emulator? And will it work with Lion?
