Analogue (component, composite etc)
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will ideally need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3), although the Apple TV does have a number of 4:3 resolutions it supports, but these may not be available if the TV doesn't broadcast them.
DAC
Most types of HDMI to non HDMI connectors or converters won’t carry audio, in such cases you may also need to convert your optical output to an analogue signal using a DAC.

I was in the middle of the iOS 8 update and tried to turn my phone off (yes, I realize this was dumb) But what happened was it tried to reset. Now, my iphone 4s has the connect to itunes screen. Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -
on an macbook i have seen that you can mix alot of music together and use it for djaying, i was wondering if you would be able to do this on an ipad?
yes you can, just download a dj app from the app store onto your ipad and it will automatically include all your music within the app for your mixing pleasure

I have photo stream setup on iPhoto on my MacBook Pro and on 2 new iPhones that have the same AppleID as the MacBook Pro. However only one iPhone will stream photos to iPhoto on the MacBook Pro. All these devices were purchased in the last 2 weeks. What setting is wrong?
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back. -
I needed iDvd, but since my iMac is newer, I didn't have iDvd on it. I installed iLife 11. I shouldn't have installed the iPhoto part because now my iPhoto wouldn't work since iLife 11 was 9.1 and my iMac had 9.2. So I used iPhoto Library Manager to create a new library. That was working, but my computer ran out of hard drive room since my original iPhoto had 137 GB of photos. My new iPhoto library had the majority of my pics and the iPhoto now worked with those pics. But now I still had all of those original pics in my hard drive. I thought that by getting rid of the original iPhoto on the iPhoto Library Manager I would get rid of all of those original pics. I now have no access to them but they are in my hard drive and I can't do much with my iMac because it is all clogged up with those original pics - I think. How do I get rid of my original iPhoto pics out of my hard drive?
What system are you running? If it's Mt. Lion go to the App Store and sign in with the Apple ID you used to purchase the Mac. Go to Purchases and download iPhoto again. The current version is 9.4.3.
If you're unable to download iPhoto from the App Store you can reomstall iPhoto from the iLife 11 disk and update it from the Apple Downloads website to the highest version you can get to (I was able to update all the way to 9.4.3 via the updaters). Then if iPhoto can't open the library use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild it and it will rebuild it compatible with your version of iPhoto via this iPLM tutorial: Fat Cat Software - iPhoto Library Manager Help - Downgrading a library to an earlier version of iPhoto

I transferred my photos from my PC to my IPOD and IPAD, c. 4000. I thought they would be transferred in the existing folders, all I got was 4000 individual photos, how do I retain the folder structure?
If you are syncing a number of folders from your computer then each folder should get it's own album on the iPad (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236) - I assume that you've touched the 'Albums' button at the top of the Photos app so as to view them by album, and not just the Photos 'button'.
You could try closing the Photos app completely and then re-opening it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Photos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Photos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Another option is to try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
yesterday I attempted to download music after purchasing $30 itune card from my daughters laptop..It cam to thje point where it asked 2 security questions and we were incorrect both times since she had not used it in 4 yrs..It locked us out. Had a rep call and he could not help since it was blocked. he sadi it would take up to 8 hours to go back in and we can changed the security ?s...How do I get there to do that?

Had a main system drive go out. Replaced and reloaded and now trying to get firefox sync to work and when I put in login info and my key it says wrong key but I do not have any other key and have used this key for years.
Can someone help me fix this without having to recreate a whole new account?For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

A Camcorder that's not on the "Qualified Devices List.." Still work?
I everyone. I own a Sony DCR-TRV-250 Digital 8 Hanycam Camcorder and I am looking into Final Cut Express HD, but I noticed that my camcorder is not on the qualified devices list. For those of you who know about this, is there a possibility that my camcorder may still work? Your Support Is *GREATLY* appreciated! Thanks so much.
To use a camera with FCE, it needs to be DV and have a FireWire connection. Your TRV250 does both. Digital8 is a Sony thing, but under the covers it is a DV codec recording on a Digital8 cassette. There are some technical differences in the tape transport speed and how the magnetic recording is made on the tape compared to miniDV tapes, but the codec itself is DV, and the output via the FireWire connection is also DV. So, it should work with FCE, and iMovie too.
The only way to know for sure is to give it a try. Find your local Apple store and take your camera there & try it. That's the same advice we'd give anyone, regarding any camera.
Oh, and by the way, I noticed that your profile says you are running 10.0.x - for FCE-HD you need at least 10.4.6 and QT 7.0.4 - check the full specs here. -
Store would not take back by broken studio beats cause the serial number and box didnt match
so i went to return my studio wireless beats today cause the right side volume was not working. the waterword lakes store manager would not take them cause the box and headphones serial numbers did not match and accused me and having more than one pair. These are the only beats i own and have ever owned they were bought online from best buy and box was sealed by my wife. so how would you ever know the serial numbers dont match? Open it in front of a best buy manager before you leave?? said for me to call beats myself. So $360 bucks down the drain? They were probably refurbed and boxed during black friday is my guess. not good best buy

I have a macbook air and and hdmi that i have used many times, but not all of a sudden the tv won't recognize the hdmi. The computer flashes when it is plugged into the hdmi but the tv says "no signal" and the airplay displays option says "no device detected" and the drop down bar is grey and locked.

You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.

Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.

Go to System Preferences>Sound>Output and make sure that you selected the right output. I think if yo use HDMI you might not be abe to select another output.
