I do not have sound on my MacBook Air

I tried to watch news videos and You Tube videos and I have no sound.

My menu is a little different than you show:
Click  in the menu bar.
About This Mac > More Info
At this point, I see a menu which has a column on the left with three headings: Hardware, Network and Software. Under each of those headings are about 10 items listed. Under "software" is listed:
Applications
Developer
Extensions
And about 7 more items
I don't see "system report" anywhere. I tried to attach a screen shot but couldn't figure out how to do it. When I click on camera icon above, I just get a blank screen that says "add image" but no dialogue to do so. :-(

I do not have Launchpad on my Macbook Air - where can I get it?

I checked in the Finder and Applications and it's not there. Any idea how I can get it back? (Although I'm not even sure it was ever there. This is the first time I've looked for it.)

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. Remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
2. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
3. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
4. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
    Audio Devices window
    Side Bar
    Click the Built-in Output.
    Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

Open System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects
Select: Play user interface sound effects
And make sure the Mute box is not selected.
Now open Mail. From the Mail menu bar clik Mail > Preferences then select the General tab.
Make a selection from the: New messages sound pop up menu.

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I have made sure the do not disturb is not turned on and have also gone into Accessibility and made sure sound is not off there. I have done a reboot and also a reset of the settings. When I set my ring tone, the sample tone plays, however, the phone only vibrates when I get a call. The apps also do not have any sound. Everything was working fine until the update.

I am positive the half moon isn't there. That one caught me once before so now I am careful to check.

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

Why does my 7.0 iDVD theme not have sound playing in the menu? When I click to get menu info, the "TravelAudio" audio is listed, but it won't play. The volume is not the issue, it just isn't there.
