I do not know where my music went

I am at my wits end. I bought an Ipod nano 2GB this afternoon. Connected it to my PC Windows XP and kopied 3 mp3 files - windows media player to the ipod. I see the Ipod on my computer. When I open it I see the 3 music files (and also one picture) but when I disconnect the ipod from the computer there is noting on. I do not see any sub directories or whatsoever on my computer only D:/IPod and then my music but nothing to play.
who can help me. I started 3 hours ago. Phoned several people but now it is midnight and I do not know how to proceed.
Bear in mind. I am an computer nit wit.

<sigh!> OK first go to the Apple web site. Next click on the iTunes & iPod section/tab. Then look for the big old sign on the page that says "DOWNLOAD ITUNES". Then after it downloads, run it and follow the install directions.

You have Sync Music selected under the Music tab or selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your PC?

I used a third party programme called Mackeeper UGHHH,it moved loads of files to the trash now i do not know where they originally came from or belong!! the put back option is in grey??how can i manually put these files back where they belong?SO upset!!

i have been researching and racking my brain on how to put these folders and contents of them back to where they once were all of the contents of the folder are still in tact AND i have not emptied my trash,my programmes and some of my apps are not working properly now...i use my computer alot for making music and things are jumbled up now...

hello there thank u so much for ur reply!! ok i uninstalled mackeeper now and the put back option is still in grey im so confused...i tried restarting my computer like u said and put back still in grey??!! the files that are in my trash are everything from Accounts,address book plug-ins,address book,adobe,aim.........then stuff like apple,Audio,....to caches color pickers,colors,com.apple.TCC,to DVD player to facebook,google to ilifemedia browser to itunes to keychains to movie effects,preferences printers to skype...my Native instruments files BUT not all of them my garage band but not all of it...it seriously looks like my whole library is in the trash i tried to put things back where i THINK they belong and it just added the item or folder under where i thought it went and didnt restore functionality to for instance google chrome and all my book marks are there....they seem to be only certain things from my library that would have added some functionality to apps and programmes like my garageband is missing stuff photobooth wont work so on.......kinda looks a bit like this thats only the half of it!! I uploaded several artists worth of music to my iPhone from iTunes and synced the phone. It seems to load from iTunes to the phone but when I disconnect from my comp it's all gone.

iTunes will not import non-iTunes purchases from iOS devices. If you still have your old computer you can transfer your iTunes library to your new one.

If you downloaded the installer it will be in your applications folder. Failing that use spotlight start typing Install and it should show up.
This is assuming you downloaded the installer from the app store, and didn't just install it onto your mac. If all you have done is install it on your mac. Go to your purchases Lion should show up. Then click download.

After Force Quitting, as LarryHN recommended,
Select the iPhoto Library in the Finder. By default it is in your Pictures folder.
Ctrl-click or right-click the iPhoto lIbrary. Select "Show package contents" from the panel, that will pop up.
Look for a folder named "Importing" or "Import". Remove this folder, but don't touch anything else.
Then launch iPhoto again.
If iPhoto now is working again, check the folder you removed, if there are any photos that you want to keep and save them.

Depending on the age of your iMac there may not be a built in slot to read SD cards. In which case you would need a USB type card reader. The first generation of iMac to have the built in card reader was Late 2009.
