I do not manage to install Final Cut Studio 5.1

I ordered and received from APPLE the universal version of Final Cut
Studio 5.1.
I do not manage to install it owing to the fact that when I write the serial number manufacturer for the recording and that I make
"enter" ; a window appears east mentions: Alarm. An error of licence: the
file of licence will not be written on the disc because the user does
not have the privileges necessary !!!!!!
Whereas I am the administrator of my Powerbook.
Before I make an intervention at APPLE to dispute:
is what somebody knows it why of this Alarm and how to cure it?
By this fact, I do not manage to install the bought program.
Thank you, if somebody knows something about this symptom.
For information, I have Powerbook G4 - Tiger 10.4.8 - the last version of quicktime and quicktimePro, and I am up to date of all my programs.

  • Why Can't I Install Final Cut Studio?

I have a MacBook Pro which is about 12 months old. It has a 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 Processor and 8G of RAM. I have been trying to install Final Cut Studio 5.1. Yeah I know that is an OLLLLLLLLLLLD version. Why I chose not to update is neither here nor there. I was about to update when Final Cut Pro X was realeaded and FCS vanished into the ether. I really only wanted DVD Pro but when that wouldn't install I went back to Square 1.
The specificationa as stated are:- "These discs contain the files required to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 on either PPC or Intel based Mac computers."
The error message that shows up on the screen when I click on the install package is:- "You can't open the application Final Cut Studio pro.mpkg because Power PC applucations are no longer supported."
This is despite the stated specifications and the fact that there is a Universal Icon on the discs.
I am also having a simillar but not the same problem with iLife '06 but i'll start another thread on that.
I'm confused, thanks for your help in advance.

Your problem is you are running Lion as your OS (10.7) and Lion does not support Rosetta which is required to run the INSTALLER of FCS 2. If you were running Snow Leopard, you would have been able to do the install.

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

  • Imac won't let me install Final cut studio 2..it will let me install the upgrade, but it has no live type and i need it to work on my current projects. How do I get Live type back installed in iMac

I just purchased an iMac for home and went to install final cut studio 2 and it gave me an error saying something about "PowerPC" not used or something like that. Installed the studio upgrade just fine...but it has no "Live Type" which I need to work on projects I have been using in my Mac Pro at my work place. How do I get "Live Type" to install in this iMac? Downloaded Live Type upgrade but that won't update cause there's no "Live Type" in the applications.

It sounds like you have Lion installed on your new imac, although your profile says SL 10.6.8 (you may want to change this.)
If you have the Snow Leopard install disc I believe you can install "Rosetta" from the extras folder which will then, if you have the original FCS2 discs , allow you to select and install Live Type and LIve Type content only from the custom install options.
I hope this will work for you.

  • Unable to install Final Cut Studio 2.0

I had the previous version of FInal Cut Studio and just purchased Final Cut Studio 2. I chose to uninstall Final Cut Studio first by dragging all the studio programs to the Trash figuring I didn't want to chance having two versions of Final Cut Studio on my computer.
I then went in to install Final Cut Studio 2. It allowed me to install the items such as Motion Content, LiveType, Audio Content, Studio Pro, etc. The option for selecting Final Cut Pro was greyed out and said skip. I don't know why but it's like it already thought it was on there and would just upgrade it. I tried it several times but always had this same set of options.
I went on then and did an install of Final Cut Studio hoping that when it came to installing it would actually work right. Well it installed all the supporting programs but not Final Cut Pro. How can I properly install the whole suite?

The FinalCut Suite 5 I'm running is misbehaving so before I install the new FinalCut Pro 6 Suite, I'd like to uninstall all of FCP Suite components and _all of their settings and customizations_. How do I make sure the new install is _absolutely clean and nothing from the previous installation effects it?_
    Thanks,
    Uri

  • Can't install Final Cut Studio

I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.6 and am trying to install Final Cut Studio. When individually do Livetype or Motion it works. When I do the Final Cut disc I get this error message.
"Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details."
My computer should have necessary specifications with 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
    What should I do?

That could very well be a Pre-Intel version of FCS. It won't install properly on an Intel Mac.

  • Can't install Final Cut Studio 2 because "PowerPC applications are no longer supported"

Bought a brand new 15" MacBookPro OS X 10.7 2.2Ghz Intel Core i7 and tried to install Final Cut Studio 2. Got the error message "You can't open the application FinalCutStudio.mpkg because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." Oh no, does this mean I have to spend more money!???

I'd like to provide an update on this situation in case anyone is in the same boat I am.
I went to the Apple store today. I asked if I could downgrade my operating system. They said no, since it came pre-installed with Lion. I asked if Final Cut Studio 3 was compatible with Lion. They said yes, for the most part. They said there was an issue exporting video in 1080p.
Of course, conveniently Apple is no longer selling FCS3 and the ones on Ebay I saw have gone up to more than $650 a copy. I am out $400 for stupidly buying FCS2 a few months ago, which is now useless to me. I told the Apple guy that I'm not buying FCS X until they work out all the kinks. This leaves me with this laptop that I bought for video editing with no editing software to use.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually considering getting Premiere Pro now for Apple, which is supported in Lion and is running a deal for 50% off. (http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#lion-os) If Apple doesn't start selling FCS 3 again, they are really not giving me any choice but to switch!

  • Can I install Final Cut Studio 3.0 after already having FCP X?

I have already installed FCP X on one of my computers.  I need to install Final Cut Studio 3.0 on the same computer now.
When I tried to install, I get the selection screen and Final Cut is ghosted out and unavailable.
Is there a way around this?  I know FCP X can co-exist with Final Cut Studio 3.0 if it's installed afterward, but I need to know if I can install Final Cut Studio after FCP X which I imagine is a fairly rare situation.
I'm on Lion -- in case that matters.
    _Matt_

I'm not positive, but I believe that FCPX installer is aware of FCS. If you intsall FCPX and FCS is already on your computer, the FCPX installer will move FCS into a folder inside Applications. I'm sure FCS installer is not aware of the existance of FCPX.
I would guess that you would have to uninstall FCPX, install FCS and then, if you wanted, re-install FCPX, using the App Store.
I have not actually done this, but I'm guessing that having FCPX already on your computer is what's causing issues with the FCS installer.

  • Problens with installing Final Cut Studio

When I am trying to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 I get the error message
Licensing Error: The license file will not be written to disk because the user does not have enough priviledges.
I have been through andd made sure that I have admin rights

    Thanks

don't know if this will help, but the first thing i would do is use the disk utility to "repair permissions" on your hard drive.

  • Need Help Installing Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1 on Macbook Pro

I am trying to install an old version of Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1) on my macbook pro (OS X Mountain Lion). When I tried to install it, it said, "power pc applications not supported on this computer". I was told to "uninstall" OS X on my computer, install Final Cut Studio, and reinstall OS X Mountain Lion again. Is this true? If so, how do I do this?

There is a "bug" in the installer application of Final Cut Studio Pro 2 that will fail to work in Lion or Mt. Lion; it will work successfully in Snow Leopard and a subsequent upgrade to Lion or Mt. Lion after the successful installation of FCSP2 will continue to work.
Once Mt. Lion is installed you can use one of these two methods to install FCSP2:
    1)  Pacifist
    2)  Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:

  • Installing Final Cut Studio Now Safari doesn't show QT

I just installed Final Cut Studio on my Macbook running 10.4.7 which installs version 7.1.2 of quicktime pro. But now Safari won't play any quicktime movies though my Firefox and Flock browsers will play QTmovies. I'd download and reinstall quicktime normally but Final Cut Studio doesn't give me a serial number for QTPro so I suspect that if I reinstall quicktime I'll wind up with no more quicktime pro or at the minimum I'd have to uninstall Final Cut Studio and reinstall to get QTPro and might be back in the same loop
Anyone have any experience with this or think of a way around getting Safari to show quicktime movies?

But now Safari won't play any quicktime movies though my Firefox and Flock browsers will play QTmovies.< </div>
You might try the Quicktime forum here on apple.com. All I can tell you is that yours is the first post I can recall describing this particular issue with an installation of FCP.
I'd download and reinstall quicktime normally but Final Cut Studio doesn't give me a serial number for QTPro so I suspect that if I reinstall quicktime I'll wind up with no more quicktime pro or at the minimum I'd have to uninstall Final Cut Studio and reinstall to get QTPro and might be back in the same loop< </div>
Your Pro license is part of the FCP install now so it will be still be there, it's not associated with the QTPlayer any longer.
You can force a reload of earlier versions of QT by going to your Library and searching for receipts for QT updates. Delete them and Software Update will pull down a new update file for you.
Umm, on second thought, wait for a few more hours till some other folks respond to your inquiry.

  • What do I need to do to install Final Cut Studio version 2 on a new Mac Book Pro

What do I need to do to install Final Cut Studio version 2 on a new Mac Book Pro that does not support power PC anymore

You need to install Rosetta from a OSX 10.6 install disk.
FCS2 is intel native, it is only the installer that requires PPC support.

  • Do I have to uninstall Final Cut Express 4 to Install Final Cut Studio 3

Can I leave Final Cut Express 4 on my machine at the same time install Final Cut Studio 3. I have some unfinished projects on FCE I want to finish at some time but not necessarily in the next few weeks.
Are these programs going to conflict with each other or is it best to just uninstall FCE? Also...is FCE uninstall just a straight delete? I don't see an uninstall app.
    Thanks
    Bryan

FCE and FCS can live quit happilly together.
Sticking to FCE for FCE stuff is a wise move.

  • Help in installing Final Cut Studio 5.1 Academic

Help! I had to uninstall old versions of Final Cut Studio.
I now am trying to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 Academic. Installer rejects the serial number every time. I don't know what to do.
It's a valid serial number; I have the packaging right here in front of me. It's old (purchased November 2006) but that shouldn't matter, right?
    Please help.

    Hello Brian,
Thanks for the reply. I was able to read the disc on my Macbook Pro and I copied all of the folders on the install disc onto my flash drive. I plugged it into my iMac and it gave me the following error message: The alias "Install Final Cut Studio" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found. Delete Alias, Fix Alias, or OK. Deleting the alias just moves the install file to the trash bin. Fixing the Alias asks me to Choose the item that you want alias to "Install Final Cut Studio" to open.
I could not figure out what to do after this. Any clues?
    Thanks again.
    Steve
