I do not plan to buy a new computer. Will I still be able to use Firefox on my MacMini PowerPC G4 OS X 10.4.11?

Your company has said it will no longer provide updates or support for older OS and PowerPCs. I want to know if I need to use another web browser that will be compatible with my MacMini PowerPC G4 OS X 10.4.11. I am not planning to purchase another "updated" computer just to be able to use Firefox, so I need to know my options. Computers are too expensive to replace if they are still in good condition and mine is still working for me.

I think the supports end latest days of April, see if you like, TenFourFox (from Mac Users) for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8

If I choose "restore from iTunes backup" to move everything from old iphone to a new one, will I still be able to use the old phone for music and apps?  Can the old phone be docked up to that same computer every now and then?  Or will the new and old phone overwrite each other in some way?  In other words, are the two phones treated as different devices when the "restore" option is used to set up the new phone?   Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use the old iPhone as an iPod touch.

  • If i buy an iphone with a bad esn, will i still be able to use the apple appstore?

    1. If I buy an iphone with a bad esn, will i still be able to use the apple app store?
    2. Searching craigslist, it looks like iphones with a bad esn are cheaper than buying an ipod.  If it's the same functionality, then is there a downside to getting an iphone with a bad esn instead of an ipod touch?
    Thanks

Actually, you can in fact restore it or re-activate it using iTunes. A bad ESN just means it can't ne activated for phone service, but it can still be used as a touch. Phones with bad ESN's are not necessarily stolen, if the owner/account holder fails to pay their bill, the carrier will list with a bad ESN.

  • Planning to buy a New Computer But Afraid

I am planning to buy a new Laptop. I'm afraid that my applications will be deleted especially games that have saved data in my iPod Touch. For Musics and Stuff i'm not worried as I can organize again in my new iTunes on my new laptop. Any solution for this? I've search online but no useful respond to my problem

Did you see my post to you in that other thread?

Also. Don't get rid of your old PC before you make sure everything is working OK on the new one. This seems basic, but you would not believe the number of folks who do this.
If you keep the old PC you can always keep using it until the new one's setup is perfect.
Just a thought, to make you less afraid!

  • If I upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion will my 2008 Microsoft Office programs be deleted or not? And if not will I still be able to use them?

I want to upgrade my system so that I can buy iPhoto, but I need to know whether or not my microsoft programes will be deleted. And if it is not deleted, will I still be able to run the program and open documents? I have microsoft 2008.

Office 2008 should run but Office 2011 is hughly recommended.
A backup is highly recommended before any upgrade.

  • Does buying a font give full commercial rights, and will I still be able to use it if I cancel my Adobe CC/Photoshop subscription?

I'm thinking of buying a font that I found initially on typekit.  Will buying that font allow me to use that font for commercial work, and will I have access to it if I ever cancel my Adobe subscription?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
If you purchase a font license outside of Typekit, that license dictates how you are allowed to use the font software. Adobe’s standard font EULA allows commercial use, but another font vendor’s license might not.
    > will I have access to it if I ever cancel my Adobe subscription?
The perpetual font license purchase is unrelated to your Creative Cloud subscription status. You will be able to use the purchased font(s) for as long as the license allows, whether or not you continue to subscribe to Creative Cloud.
I hope that this helps; let me know if you have any other questions here or at [email protected]!

  • Now that my Mac OSX v10.5 is not supported by Firefox, and I'm not ready to buy a new computer, what are my options?

I'm wondering if I can, or should, upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion?????  Or, should I switch to Safari?  There is not much stored on my computer except for usually about 500 pictures.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?

  • I was given a 16GB mini IPAD as a gift. I do not have any other apple or smart products, just a laptop. Will I still be able to use this? What is the average cost if I need to purchase anything. I am 67 and not really into technolgy. Thanks so much.

As I stated I am 67 and not really into technolgy so I was wondering what and if i musy do to get the mini ipad to work for me. Thanks so much. I aplogize for my lack of knowledge.
    Thank you.

Have you activated the device yet? Is it up and running?
Many of us in this community are your age and older. Age has nothing to do with it, but your lack of experience with tech devices has more bearing on this than your age. However, having said that, the iPad is very easy to use. You don't need a computer at all any more in order to use an iPad.
If you do want to use your laptop with your iPad, you must be running the latest version of iTunes and these are the specific requirements.
Apple ID (required for some features)
    Internet access
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 8; Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

  • Can I buy a new computer with Snow Leopard?

I tried Lion but I was very disappointed. Since I am planning to buy a new computer I would like to know if I can have Snow Leopard on it. On the Store I see "Lion included" everywhere and no option to have the previous OS version.
    Tanks
    Stefano

Thanks a lot Thomas. That's unbelievable and it is really disappointing.
To answer your question what I did not like was:
    - not to be able to customize the interface (e.g. up/down buttons in finder scroll bars, uncustomizable finder's side bar)
    - useless new features (e.g., launchpad - I do not need to use my laptop/desktop as if it were an iPad)
    - loss of programs (e.g, front row)
    - mission control is beautiful, but expose was helpful and I need the latter
    - versions and automatic save are not needed to me but I did not find a way to disable them. It looks they make my system slower
    - my macbook became generally slower, but I could cook eggs on it. Unfortunately I need a fast laptop and not a stove
I hoped I could downgrade the OS, but it is not the case, so this time I am going to buy a Linux box. Hopefully next OS will be better.
