I do not see my iphone 42 in the device section of finder on macbook pro
I have the latest itunes 11, OSX 10.7.5 not on mountian lion. I cannot get my iPhone 4s to show up in the device section of Finder on my macbook pre 13". I was working just fine before I installed the new itunes and now it is no longer working. I looked at the forum and could not find an answer so I am posting the question here if anyone can help it would be great.
The iPhone will not show up in Finder, and never has. It will appear as a digital camera if there are photos in the Camera Roll, and it will appear in iTunes.

You would need to have enabled iCloud on your MBP. Your question indicated you did not.
Its serial number is useful for establishing ownership should the MBP be recovered. File a police report. -

Hello! Happens that there was a time when, if I opened the app on my iphone and had the desktop version running, there would appear a section titled "DEVICES". I thought it was a problem with my (then) current iphone, but now even with a new one, nothing changed. The thing is that that way I could add songs from my local files to MY MUSIC list, (that's how I listened to Taylor Swift on Spotify), but now I can only add local files to separate playlists, and now if I play MY SONGS playlist on my phone, it won't include these songs. Did this feature disappear? Is there a way I can do what I intend to? Note 1. Even though the DEVICES section no longer shows up, I can stream and control the music and volume from the computer to the phone, so... the computer does detect my phone (?). The devices section will be coming back in a future update.
In the meantime:
You won't be able to see an indication in the desktop client that the device is paired with the desktop client. But as long as they both are on the same WiFi network you should be able to trigger the local files sync by toggling the offline toggle on the playlist on your device. Just make sure that the local files are in a playlist of their own (not just the built in local files playlist) so that this will work. -
My computer and itunes app do not see my iphone when I plug it into either USB port on the computer. The cable works because I can hear the iphone start charging off the computer. But there is no indication of the device in itunes or on my hard drive device list. Any ideas?

There is no way to view your photos via iCloud.com. Videos are not uploaded.
Photo Stream merely "pushes" the photos to your other devices. -

Windows 8 has not been officially released nor is it supported by iTunes.

Have you tried a couple of USB cables? And are you using the original cable that came with your phone?

Try holding down CTRL as you launch iTunes to see if it will repair the drivers.
