How can I delete the photos from my HD? I am have iPhoto 8.1.2 and am running OSX 10.9.4 on my mid 2010 iMac 21.5" unit. I keep all my photos on an external drive and want to clear up the space on my computer. Can I just trash the iPhoto library and empty the trash? Will this cause me any problems?

You might want to update your profile to 10.9.4.
You should be able to drag the Library to the trash without problems.
You might want to update your iPhoto to the current version if you plan to use it in the future. I would also add the external to your backups so you can recover the photos.

My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. Hope this helps!

Thanks...I minused the Mobile Me in iphoto but don't know how to delete it in Apple preferences... I still have no idea what Moblie Me was/is or if I should know...thanks again for responding....would you know how to get rid of the Mac.com mail? I am a freelance photographer in NYC and was using iphoto to organize and view my photos. After my last import, Iphoto not only created new folders for my work but also went in and replace 2 of my existing folders of work. I tried everything from backing up and the rebuilding the library to search with spotlight for my pictures. the thumbnails are still in the cache but all of the orginals are gone and i have many unhappy clients. So i am left to using my unfriendly camera import software, but at least i would lose my information.

Did you updated from OSX Lion to Mountain Lion? And iPhoto was installed on your Mac? Then iPhoto and the Library must still be on your Mac.
Go to finder and slect 'Applications'. iPhoto must be in that folder. Open iPhoto. See what happens. Are all your pictures/events displayed?
If not, please reply and we will try to locate the iPhoto Library.

I can not open iPhoto, are all my pictures lost?

I used iPhoto just yesturday, but today when I went to open it it would not open and instead showed a question mark where the application is in my dock. I am very worried that if I can not open iPhoto all of my pictures will be lost. My main concern is not necesarliy getting iPhoto to work but retreaving my pictures. They are very importnt to me.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

TS2383 What if doing all of this it still does not correct the problem? Still tries to download again and stops at the same spot. Can not open iPhotos at all now.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that fails:
Restore from your back up, repair the Library and start again.

(I do NOT use norton at all) Some of my saved bookmarks keep disappearing when I close and re-open my browser..this is getting very frustrating! (firefox 4.0)

I have read about this happening, but the only solution is for people who use Norton, and I do not-it is not even on my laptop at all..
I have firefox 4.0. Every time I close firefox, some of my SAVED bookmarks are missing when I re-open later. I tried re-saving them, but then when I close and re-open firefox later on again, some more bookmarks are gone..this only happens when I exit for a while..if I close and re-open firefox right away the bookmarks are all still there.
This is very frustrating! I never had this problem with firefox 3.whatever..PLEASE HELP??

Yes - see [[options window - privacy panel]]. There is an option to clear some of the history when Firefox closes, you can customise that.

Can not use Safari at all, just get a warning and its frooze whats up?.

Hey folks need your help with Safari issue. It started with pop up adds creating a new window and then I have to click it off, the add is about Mac cleaner. Then wen site were generated based on the site I was on, using their name asking me to take a survey. Now I just get a warning that says I have a virus and its frooze up on that screen in a loop. Can not find any solution as of yet, it all started with the latest up I got of safari. I turn on add blocker but that had no effect.

How to upload photos from iPhone to "Pictures Folder" in "Finder" without using iPhoto at all?

I personally hate iPhoto and would like my photos to upload directly into a "selected" folder under "Pictures" in "Finder" from my iPhone or camera card. Then I would like to delete iPhoto from my computer. Any answers?

Really simple. Just don't use it.
To get images from your phone/camera/whatever: Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)
If you have images in the iPhoto Library already: Export them - File -> Export.

That said, taking 15 minutes to understand iPhoto will offer you far more options for storing, searching, finding and sharing your photos than folders in the Finder ever will.

Since I upgraded iphoto, the program shuts down. It loads for 2 minutes then just closes. Ihave sent reports in and updated the program but it has been so frustrating. I can't use iPhoto at all and can't even get at photos without it locking up. Help?

Since I upgraded to iphoto 11, I have not be able to access my photos without the program locking up, not respondiong, and shutting down. iphoto has went into repair on its own, but still shuts down. I have sent in reports each time, but have not figured out the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

Post the first 50 - 100 lines of the crash log?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result.

I do not use iPhoto at all.
