I do not want firefox as a default. a friend downloaded it an made it default. do i have too uninstall too change back too ie?

i do not like firefox as default, ido not mind it staying as a extra.

Use IE s own settings to make it the default browser.
Or from right click of Start then properties -> start menu -> customise
and select IE instead of FireFox
In Firefox ensure that Tools -> Options Advanced
ensure check firefox is default browser on startup
Is not enabled

  • I am trying to apply for a job online. The site is not compatible with windows 9. They told me to download firefox. I do not want firefox as my default brower. How can I download it and not have it my default browser?

I am not sure what you need typed here. The details are in my question.

When Firefox asks whether you want to make it your default browser, say No. If it does anyway, the next time you start IE, IE will re-assert itself as the default browser.

  • I am considering switching from MIE to Firefox. But I need to use an outdated version (7.3.1) of QuickTime, and I do not want Firefox to update it. If I installed Firefox, how would I prevent this?

Firefox doesn't update plugins like that. The worst you might see is a "nag" from Firefox after an update, about that plugin being outdated; and you can dismiss that "nag" by just closing it.

  • On many webpages, an answer is popping up while I complete a field. I do not want Firefox remembering what I type after I leave a page. How can I stop it?

For example: I was filling out a form on a website I had never been to before, which requested my e-mail address. After I had typed a few characters, a floating box appeared just below the form's field, containing one of my e-addresses (similar to but not the one I was inputting). I do not want Firefox to keep enough knowledge to allow other people to pretend to be me (even on my home computer).

    Do the following:
    # Open the Firefox options
    # Click on the <i>Privacy</i> tab
    # Change the History settings to <i>Use Custom Settings...</i>
    # Uncheck the <i>Remember Search and Form Data</i> option

You could try using the DNG converter 8.7 on Windows vista:

  • I do not want Firefox 12

    Help please.
I am on my final warning before automatic update to Fx12 but I do not want Fx12. I want to remain on the superiour 3.6.28
How the heck can I stop it from changing.
If there is no way to stop it then for me it is bye bye Firefox and hello Internet Explorer 9.

I completely understand your situation - and frustration Hoggy & Pko. There are ways to prevent this from happening. Please note that some websites will force this check, such as the default "home" site for FireFox. ( http://en-US.start3.mozilla.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official ).
There is, however, a way to disable the update message you are having. Other users having this problem have gotten advice on this support.mozilla.org page:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/925940
I hope that helps you guys too. I really is a shame to see Mozilla hurt the users that *really love* the classic Firefox look and feel. Tons of new developers have created their own versions already. There hopefully won't be long until we can start to replace Firefox - the same way we replaced IE back in the good old days. I weep from saying that...but that's the path Mozilla is laying for us - doing exactly what IE did which inspired them to make Firefox in the first place.

  • I do NOT want firefox to load 200 MB EVERY time i start it JUST because it wants to load the last pages that were opened. How do I disable this?

I usually close firefox through the windows taskmanager with the "end process" command because it always becomes unresponsive sooner or later (i think due to website scripts that stop responding).
Anyway when i open it afterwards i have to wait like 1-2 min while it loads and loads and loads (150-250 MB ram) all the sites that were opened in the previous session. I do NOT want this i want to disable this horrible feature but currently that is not an option. Or is it ? How can I disable it?
I want my firefox to start up quickly without loading previous sessions no matter how it was closed.

im asking how to disable that not how to enable it ... in my "when firefox starts:" box ive chosen "show my home page" but it still loads stuff from last time because i've closed the program by ending the process in taskman. ... which i explained in the question but w/e thanks anyway

  • I do not want firefox to ask me if I want to return to a previous session every time I open it

I think every time I turn the computer on or re open Firefox I am asked if I want to return to a previous session . I do not want to be asked.

That can happen if Firefox isn't closing properly.
Try to use File > Exit Firefox to close Firefox if you are currently using the close X on the title bar.
    See "Hang at exit":

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Until your recent change, I used Firefox to search the internet. Nows I get a message that says "File not found." I DO NOT want to use google, but that SEEMS to be my only choice. WTF? Tell me how to get back to my Firefox search.

I DO NOT want to use Google for anything on my computer. I do not want to search or browse using google.
After the change Firefox made about a month ago, I can't get my search line browser, whatever the hell it is at the top of my computer screen, to give me anything. The only way I can search the internet is using google. I DO NOT want to use google for anything on my computer.
    Need more info?

if Firefox is now searchingbrowsing through Google, I will quit Firefox and find something else. I do not want anything from Google operating on my computer.

  • I do not want firefox to try and recover any web pages on start up. Ho do I do this?

Regardless of whether I manually shut down my web pages, Firefox always seems to be trying to recover pages at start up. When I shut down I never want Firefox to recover previous web pages on start up. Just my home page.

A likely cause is that you are first closing all Firefox windows and then close the Firefox application.
Some have reported that closing Firefox (Firefox > Quit) while the browser window is still open works for them.

  • I recently had a message come on phone that said "someones" (do not want to reveal actual name) device logged onto your apple ID. Is there a way to bring this message back up?

Also, is there a way to pull up a log of some kind that shows what devices have logged into my apple ID in the last week? And no I do not need to go to itunes and see what devices are associated with my device I have already done this and I need something much more detailed.

Similar issue -- this is the third time in as many months that I've had to restore my iPad. It's a iPad Mini w/ 32GB (ME277LL/A), running the latest iOS8.1.2. The "other" data starts off about 1GB and will bob around that. I was careful about games this time, seeing only a slight rise in the data. Once it started to rise, I deleted all of the game and the data on Game Center. No joy -- the data stays about the same.
Then I noticed it was really climbing -- shooting up to about 10GB and sitting there, no matter what I did: sync it: nothing. Deleting music (on the off chance it was album art or some such: nothing. Deleted all the books in iBooks: no effect -- still 10GB. Cleared the iCloud storage, cleared caches repeatedly: nothing. Reset everything: no effect. Only Restoring the iPad -- which takes forever and is a gigantic pain in the @$$ -- gets it down. This is exactly the same thing that happened the other two times -- I lose about 10GB to "other."
I now suspect, thinking on what I was doing with the device, that pulling movies from iTunes seems to be the culprit. Deleting the movies might take the movie "off the iPad", but there seems to be a corresponding jump in Other. My guess is there's some glitch dumping the information elsewhere.
It makes a 32GB iPad pretty frickin' close to useless in a remarkable amount of time. I've not had this issue until this iPad (bought last summer) with the iOS8 upgrade. I don't see this happen on the iPhone 5S with the same OS...that's why I dialed down to iTunes (when is it not smack in the middle of issues?) and Video as the culprit; I don't watch movies on the phone.
I've noticed a massive amount of posts in support and around the web on this matter...it might be time for Apple to shift it and do something about the matter. If I'm going to be restricted to surfing the web, email, and little else thanks to the Other issue, it really doesn't make sense to stick with this device. I can doo all that on my laptop, can't it?
