I do not wish to use Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2

How do I retrieve all of my photos and replace them back into "My Pictures"?

Hey Anita,
Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition is not a software that stores images but it rather stores their location in a catalog. So you can uninstall the application if you don't want to use it further and your images will remain in the locations they were already in.

Chhaya

  • Using photoshop album starter edition 3.o and need to copy to laptop, missing my program cd.

I am presently using photshop album starter edition 3.) and need to copy to new laptop.  I have misplaced my program cd.  Is there any way I can get this program on my laptop.  It is windows 7 and the photshop is on XL.  Thanks so much.

I am sorry but we no longer have older software available for download.  I am not sure Photoshop Album Starter Edition would even function in Windows 7.
I would recommend trying Photoshop Elements 10 on your new computer.  It has all the features of Photoshop Album Starter Editon plus many more.  On top of that it has been designed to work with Windows 7.  You can find more details at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html.

  • Problem sharing images using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2

Just installed this program and can't seem to email an image. It goes through the processes and the email box pops up with the attachment and when I click on send, it saves and closes. Where does it save and close to and why isn't it sent immediately. Thank you for your help. I am beginning to feel like a dunce.

    Hi Mattie,
The role of this program while mailing ends with the popping up of the email box.Any error that occurs afterwards must be due to the mail client.Which mail client are you using? You have mentioned that it saves and closes, so is there any message that is popped about it being saved?

It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files. The thumbnails, as well as any tags, and Albums that you create in Starter Edition are all stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file, separate from your pictures, and your pictures remain where you originally copied them to your computer.
If you use Photoshop Album to subsequently download files from a digital camera or scanner, the default location where the program will create those files would be in the My Pictures>Digital Camera Photos folder. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.
The thumbnails in the Starter Edition catalog will exist, even if you decide to move or delete the original photos that were added to the program. This will cause files in the Photoshop Album catalog to become 'disconnected' from the original photos. To reconnect the files, you can use the File>Reconnect Missing files command to see if the program can locate the original files in a new location, and once again re-link the catalog thumbnails to the files they once referenced.
Since Photoshop Album has been discontinued, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution. One alternative that will preserve most of what you've created in Starter Edition is the Photoshop Elements 8 trial. Install that, and it will automatically convert the Photoshop Album catalog to a current format, and the program will not time out, as Starter Edition did. If you want to purchase more Editing power, you can also choose to purchase the full program, but it's not required.
If you are like many who have come to this forum wondering how you can get to your photos, now that the program has become locked or expired, don't worry; your photos have never been moved by Photoshop Album; they remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive. To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. Here is a handy How-To that you could refer to to find photos on your system, as well as some other tips for how you can use folders to keep your photos organized: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/filemgmt.mspx
    Hope those tips help!

Your photos are safe, and are present in the folder on your computer that you specified when importing them. If you used Photoshop Album Starter Edition to import your files from the camera without changing the default folder, look in this folder:
    Windows® XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\My Documents\My Pictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos
    Windows Vista®/7: C:\Users\[User Name]\Pictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos

  • Lr cannot read Catalog .psa (Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2)

    Hello,
I use Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 to manage my 12'000 photos (with tags) and I'll move to Lightroom. But I cannot import the catalog .psa into Lr2.3.
Lr can read only catalog .lrcat, .lrdb, and .aglib !
I renamed catalog .psa to catalog .aglib etc. but nothing happenend.
    My idea, I will :
    1. Install PSE 7,
    2. read catalog .psa (is it possible?)
    3. export into catalog .lrcat, .lrdb, or .aglib (is it possible?)
4.then  import with Lr with all the tags
Is there someting easyer to do ?
    My brain is boiling :-\
    Thank you
    Tennistin

PSE7 should be able to convert your catalog. I don't really know, as I haven't tried and haven't read about converting PSA Starter Edition catalogs, but I am optimistic.
The problem is that the current version of Lightroom will not read PSE7 catalogs. Probably when Lightroom 3 comes out, it will read PSE7 catalogs. So, I would search the Internet to see if the trial version of PSE6 or PSE5 is available somewhere for download. If you can find one of those versions, they will convert your PSA catalog as well. Lightroom definitely does convert PSE5 and PSE6 catalogs.

  • Transfer tags from Photoshop Album Starter Edition to other Photoshop products?

Here's a scenario for you, which might require some expert advise:
We have a database (on a network server) with ~6000 pictures which are extensively tagged using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 installed on a client PC. The client PC had to be swapped out, so I installed a new PC with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, and moved the tag database (....\All Users\bla bla bla) from the old to the new PC. Now, when I start Photoshop Album Starter Edition, I can see that the software has found my images and tags, but the software displays a pop-up asking for an unlock-code, and I cannot get past this popup.  When registering using the form in the popup, I receive an email from Adobe saying that the product is discontinued and cannot be used anymore. I have Googled like a maniac to find unlock codes, but when entering such codes in the unlock code window, the "unlock"-button stays disabled, so I am not able to start the software to access our image- and tags database.
    So I wonder:
    1) Is it possible to unlock the software and continue using it?
    2) Does any other version/variant of Adobe Photoshop allow import of the tags database from Photoshop Album Starter Edition?
Looking forward to your clever ideas on this one.
    With kind regards
    /Nils

  • Re: unlock code to Photoshop album Starter Edition 3

I too have got problems with the Photoshop Album Starter Edition Album. My photos are locked in there from 2006 onwards and without any warning I am now unable to access them. The on screen message asks me to register with Adobe for an unlock code and when I tried this the reply came back that the product is no longer supported by Adobe. I rang their customer services (UK) and they told me they no longer supported this product and to contact an IT support man!!!!
Appalled at this. Thanks Adobe - I think not. Anybody else offer me support in overcoming this problem? Thanks.

    Adobe Poor,
You're not alone in wondering about how to get photos 'out' of Starter Edition. There are a few posts like this in the forum, all of which are based on the false assumption that Starter Edition has exclusive access to the photos that appear to be 'in' the program.

  • Will Photoshop Album Starter Edition support taskbar with "auto-hide" on?

I am using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 on my Windows 2000 computer, and I have a problem with my taskbar not popping up. I have the "auto-hide" selection on for the taskbar, so it stays out of my way when I am working in applications. However, I have to hit the "windows" key if I want to switch from Photoshop to another app.
I looked through the support site and found the article that Album 2.0.1 fixes this bug for Windows XP. However, the problem still exists with Album 3.0 and Windows 2000. Will this bug get a fix soon?

You may already be aware of this but you can shift to another open application by pressing the Alt key and the tab key together. While Holding down the Alt Key, press the tab key. You will see a small window with the application name in it. When you press tab repeatedly, the application name will keep on changing in the window. When you let go of the keys, the application whose name is in the window will be activated.

  • Burning Photos is Photoshop Album Starter Edition

    HELP:
    1) I have tried to copy all the photos to a CD-RW disk using Windows Explorer and I have had no luck copying and pasting.
    2) I then used Photoshop Album Starter Edition "Burn to CD" option. When I do it this way, it does burn all photos to CD but completely locks up my computer and makes my Drive E: unusable. I have to restart the computer to use Drive E: again and also to check the CD to see if photos are there.
Could you tell me what I am doing wrong in both cases? Thank you. Elyse

    Jim:
I have a Canon A95 Digital camera. When I download the pictures I download them into ZoomBrowser EX and then use the "Get Photos" in Adobe PSE to input them into Adobe PSE. When I get pictures through email I put them into "My Pictures" and then use the "Get Photos" in Adobe PSE to add them to Adobe PSE.
I also have PhotoImpression 5, Microsoft Picture IT Photo 2002 and MGI PhotoSuite 8.1 but I have not really read up on any of them. When I got the camera, I tried using the ZoomBrowser EX and PhotoImpression 5 software that came with the camera but I found that Adobe PSE was much easier to use (eg. fixing pictures, red eye, etc.).
If I can provide any further information, please let me know.
I know that I can backup all my pictures in "My Pictures" but I just thought it would be nice to backup the Adobe PSE catalogue.
I had to reformat my computer last year because of a different problem and I want to be able to always have a backup of all my photos in case that happens again or even if I have a computer crash.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
    Elyse

I am having trouble trying to get a code to register my adobe photoshop album starter edition 3.2. I have made many requests and nothing happens.   My photos are locked in that programm and can't be used at all.  If I had a code to open I coulod transfer them to an up to date program.

  • Captions using file names? (Photoshop Album Starter Edition)

In Photoshop Album Starter Edition, is it possible to create a slideshow and use the file name (i.e. "Red Sails in the Sunset.jpg")as a caption that is viewed within the slide show segments? If not, is there another Adobe product, possibly Elements, that can do this? Thanks, Van.

    Somewhat related:
I have used tags to organize my photos, but it seems this will be lost if I ever move to another program (e.g. Picaca - though Adobe was able to import one Picasa tag). My questions:
    1. How can I permanently associate tag-type info with my photos?
    2. Can I use a simple or batch method to use my filenames (which have a lot of info) as captions?

  • Storing Notes with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3

I am new to Photoshop Album Starter Edition and was working with it yesterday to catalog some old family photos that I had scanned. When I was cataloging the photos, I added a caption and notes for each photo under the properties tab. When I burned the photo files to a CD and loaded the CD to another computer using Photoshop Starter Edition 3, I able to see the caption under properties but there was nothing in the Notes field. I'd like to use the notes field to store comments about the photo and then be able to burn the CD to share with other family members. Is there a way to burn the photos to a CD and be able to see the Notes information?

Using PSA 3.0 does this also mean that if I move an image to a new directory it loses the notes information and similarly should I rename the file will it will also lose the notes detail but not the caption. I understand why this is, if it is so - ah but here comes the question, "Is there any way to print out the notes detail by images etc to a file or to the printer should the need arise to reuse the information. Say I scan images to a laptop and record "notes information" using PSA 3.0 - how do I get that "notes" information to my desktop should I transfer the photos & use PSA 3.0 there - any help or advice would be most appreciated - are there other Adobe products that address this

  • Initialize Model - Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 Will Not Load

I have a Dell Dimension E510, running Windows XP and I just downloaded Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2. It install successfully, but when I go to launch the program it freezes and in the bottom left hand corner of the Adobe Launcher window it states "Initialize Model".
The program never finishes loading and does not work on my machine.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

I finally gave up. I got no reponse in this forum or from Adobe.
I literally restored my entire computer back to its original state and guess what... SAME ANNOYING THING HAPPENED "Initialize Model" then FREEZE...
I went out and bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 at Costco for $49.00 on sale and it works great and actually a much superior product. My heart skipped a beat when it got to Initializing Model, but it went right by and worked fine.
I understand Album Starter is freeware, but why even release a product even for free if it just doesn't work.
So far no problems with Elements and although I had to shell out $49.00 at least now I have a supported product.
