I don't believe this. Exact same problem as before

So I got my replacement Macbook Pro barely an hour ago and it has the exact same problem! I was checking it over to see if it did what my my now old one does.
It sounds like this guy's Mac
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXsKxhfc9Sg
But in a specific place on the back and the corresponding place on the front of the palmrest. What's happened to their QC man? Tempted to just return it for a refund and not try again for another one (this was #3, #1 was fine, but I traded up for higher spec and have received two in a row that are bad). So, so disappointed. It's perhaps even worse in the new one, because I'm pretty sure it's louder. The computer I built myself has hardware that's in better shape (in terms of noises they should and shouldn't make. It is plastic so noise is expected). I can't be bothered to be dealing with this anymore, should I try for #4 or just go back to PC exclusively. I haven't even finished setting this new one up, because I just gave up at that point.
I always get the faulty one. Always.

Considering just keeping the original and living with it I guess, can't be dealing with constant sending stuff back and forth. The replacement's hinge is not flush with the body like it should be and of course it makes noise. Just a couple of minutes ago, got this Macbook up to near 100 degrees, palm rest made quite a bit of noise when I pushed on it (could have been the heat that caused it), but 2 out of 2 have had problems. So, in future unless things change, when the choice of build your own or buy another Mac comes around, I think build my own will win out. Then I can be sure the hardware was actually put  together properly. If I wanted chassis creak I'd have just bought Windows.
Signed,
disappointed Apple customer

  • TS3356 Simple question I hope! I want to buy a camcorder by JVC but it uses a format called AVCHD. I believe this has to be converted before it can be used on iMovie. Can anyone tell me, in simple language, if this is so and how easy it is?

I want to buy a new camcorder and am considering one by JVC. This one, plus a few others such as Sony use AVCHD. I gather this would be need converting before any editing can be done in imovie?? I cant find a simple answer to this question. It seems strange to me that Mac dont appear to support AVCHD when so many video camera companies use it. Can anyone advise please, in simple language as I am far from a computer geek!!!
Is conversion a complicated or time consuming process and would it be simpler to fo for an MP4 type

Most AVCHD camcorders can be used in iMovie without any conversion needed if they are imported directly from the camcorder.
When you hear someone mention that you must convert AVCHD to use in iMovie, it is usually because they removed the files from the camcorder and only removed part of the files and folders. You need all of them to import to iMovie.
However, you should check to see if the camcorder you are choosing will work in iMovie. Here is a list of compatible camcorders.

  • Windows server 2012 R2 PXE boot is unworkable slow, I have this exact same set-up working in 2008 R2 What can I do?

    Hi there
I'm trying to deploy a windows 7 image through Windows deployment services via PXE boot from a 2012 R2 server.
Issue:    PXE boot is extremely slow, it takes up to more than 60 minutes for the device to download download the PXE boot
Things I already tried to get this up and running:
I've tried to change the TFTP block size via command prompt and via regedit
I've changed the settings on the tab of the WDS role (go to WDS role -> properties on server -> Tab "tftp")
Both actions resulted in PXE boot being even slower than it already was.
To make sure this is not because of our environment I’ve set up the same configuration on a windows server 2008 R2, here PXE boot image is downloaded to the machine within 3 minutes.
Both servers are set up through Hyper-V this is the configuration:
    2008 R2:
    Memory: 4096 MB
    1 Virtual processor
    IDE controller 2 hard drives
    Network adapter
    2012 R2:
    Memory: 4096 MB
    32 virtual processors
    SCSI controller 2 hard drives
    Network adapter
I can’t imagine that PXE boot is not working because of the differences of the Hard drives controllers or because of the amount of the virtual processors.
Windows server 2012 R2 seems to handle PXE boot TFTP differently in comparison to 2008 R2.
Do you guys know what I can do/try to get this working?

    Hi Jacques Rodrigues,
You can run Windows Deployment Services on Hyper-V virtual machines,
that the performance will often be degraded, particularly during the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) download phase. This phase is very resource-intensive and may
fail if insufficient resources are available on your server running Hyper-V.
If you are using multicast, Check if IGMP Snooping is enabled i.e. Routers that support multicasting. In particular, Internet Group Membership Protocol (IGMP) snooping should
be enabled on all devices. This will cause your network hardware to forward multicast packets only to those devices that are requesting data. If IGMP snooping is turned off, multicast packets are treated as broadcast packets, and will be sent to every device
    in the subnet.

  • TS1398 Still having problems with my ipad wifi connection since upgrading to IOS 6.  Can Apple do something about it the soonest possible time.  I don't have this kind of problem using IOS 5.1.1 Can you at least put back the 5.1.1 if you cant find a solut

So disappointed with IOS 6.  I'm having weak wifi connection since upgrading to it.  Can Apple do something about it? Can you at least reset it to IOS 5.1.1?

Sorry Jim for the wrong question because I'm getting frustated with my IPAD since I can't use it for surfing internet with a faster speed.  Ipad was very convenient to use until this IOS 6 upgrade.  Tried all the suggestions in the forums but still gets back to weak wifi connection.

  • I don't believe this

I updgrade my computer every now and then. I reformat and now I can't play my purchased songs because I past the 5 computers allowed. What a crock.. It's the same computer but with different components. Thanks Apple... following in the footsteps of MS..
I used iTune 7 to back up before I reformatted. Now when I go play the song I get can't find the original song after I imported the songs back into iTunes.. Tried importing again and hit overwrite songs.. that didn't work now I have two of every song. Look into the folder and it's for example "Bitter_End.mp4" and Bitter_End1.mp4" instead of overwritting it adds another copy and adds the 1 at the end.
My question is there a way to delete the 1.mp4 files without going through 2500 songs individually? Also how about having the songs imported locate the original files automatically?

Sorry, but you should have known to deauthorize your computer before you formatted. I know it's happened to me before (I forget sometimes), but if you want, you can deauthorize all 5 of your computers at the same time and then reauthorize the one you're using now. Here's a link on how to do it:

Sorry, can't help with the other question.

  • Reply-All Adds Me to the "cc" Line and I Don't Want This

When I select "Reply All" on an e-mail in iPhone, my name gets added to the "cc" list automatically (not the bcc list). In order to prevent myself from receiving my own reply in my Inbox, I have to delete my name from the "cc" line.
Is there a way to turn this off? My "Always Bcc: Myself" setting is set to off.
I use an Exchange Server for e-mail.
    Many thanks.

I have this exact same problem. Only happens on the phone, not within the mail app for example. Went to the genius bar today and no one there had seen it or could help me. I am wondering if it has something to do with being an old ".mac" user? I.e. I have two emails (.mac and .me) that both send mail to the same mailbox? But this DID just start a few weeks, maybe a month ago. I can't find anything with regards to a solution!!!

  • I don't know what to even call this type of problem

I have no idea what to even name what has happened to my MacBook Pro in the last two days, so I don't quite know where to begin to look for help.
As best I can describe it--a constant, VERY rapid opening of files--to the point that I thought the whole computer drive would fill up.  These files were all of the same type--saying something about an alias being resolved.
I did whatever I could think of to stop the process.
Both instances involved attempts to use downloaded drawing-to-a-mac programs.  Don't know yet if this was just a coincidence, or not.
In any event, if anyone knows what to term this type of event, I sure would appreciate learning even that; because then, if it reoccurs, I might be able to seek help more directly.
    Thanks so much.

Thanks, OrangeMarlin.  The second program was MacPaint.  Sorry, but am not sure about the first one.  I did delete both programs.  And it may have even been WordPress, which I'm still quite new at using.  (I was trying to make a WordPress customized header, by way of a kind of artsy program.)  I've also been using Comic Life, but I don't believe that is the problem.
In all these years, I've never seen anything like this before.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • Same problem as everyone else

Ipod is not recognized by itunes. its been freezing up lately and i'm about to throw it out the window. when i connect it to my computer it just winds up then stops and will wind up again. As this is going on it freezes up all programs that i open up. apple tech support and their site is useless, i've tried everything that they say to do except restore but how the **** am i suppose to do that if it doesn't connect to my computer? crappy designing on apple's part. anyone know how to restore it manually or know where i can get an older version of itunes? don't tell me to reset it either cause i've done it and it does nothing

I have the exact same problem as Brandon has listed above and have (several times) removed all I pod and I tunes related software from my computer then re-down loaded and re installed to no avail.
If my I pod is attached to my computer (windows xp & 3gn I pod) and I bring up I tunes v.6 the entire computer locks up. the only way I can get it going again is to hit the re start button. it won’t even re boot via ctl / alt / del!
Several times as the computer is re starting I will get the “blue screen” with a message telling me that my I pod drive has invalided temp files, what ever that is supposed to mean.
As long as I tunes v.6 in NOT running my computer will see the I pod. I believe it is listed as drive g. As soon as i bring up i tunes v.6 everything locks up.
I hate to lose all my songs (again) on the I pod but may try the suggestion of changing the drive letter of the I pod.
I may even try a format command to reformat the hard drive of the i pod.
Not sure if it will help but i am just about ready to give up.
My buddy uses a Dell mp3 player, and has had no problems at all. I'm thinking i may just give up on apple altogether.
By the way I have about ½ of my music library stroed on the i-pod 1,500 songs or so. I had to manually drag each one into the I pod because the automatic update feature always locked up my computer.
Now I cant even manually drag the songs over, everything just locks up.

  • T61p back from depot after 1 month with same problems, phone support no help

I ordered this on Feb 8. My CC was billed March 5th which is around when I physically got it. I basically troubleshooted it until the end of the month before calling to get it sent for repairs. Got the box for the depot on April 3 and sent it the same day. Got the laptop back just on Monday May 12. Now it still doesn't work, and I'm wondering what the heck to do.
    Problems with the T61p:
    1. Cardbus non functional; The pci/cardbus bridge is detected fine and drivers not a problem. The system doesn't detect any card inserted in the T61p. I have a $100 firewire 800 card I've used without problems in many laptops (I can test in one right now), but this T61p doesn't see it at all. This is not a driver issue for any particular card, but the fact that windows doesn't detect any new hardware when a card is inserted.
Sent to the depot at the beginning of April and I got it back this Monday. They replaced the mainboard and pcmcia slot (as it says on the slip included). Still having the exact same problem.
    2. Completely unstable with a 1394b expresscard; Since I cannot get the cardbus slot to work, my only option is an expresscard. I am using a studio quality sound interface, Fireface 800 from RME. This is a great piece of hardware that works flawlessly on my 5 year old AMD box. However, on the T61p if I playback audio through it, connected via a SIIG firewire 800 expresscard (high quality, and one of the _only_ 1394b expresscards out there) the system completely locks up in a matter of minutes.
The main reason for this laptop purchase was for music production with the RME Fireface. It is 100% the T61p causing the problem, not power management issues, driver issues, the SIIG card, or physical connections, etc. You can see my thread at RME from March when I was trying to figure this out:
    http://rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=11332
I haven't had a full month of use of this thing. I would very much just like a return at this point. I don't want to wait another month for a depot repair, seeing as the last one didn't resolve anything. If I could get a fully working model of this T61p that would be great, but I see this 14.1" SXGA+ isn't even offered anymore.
Talking to support is horrible. Last I talked to someone who was technically clueless, saying he would do research and call me back. I call back the next day and there isn't even a record of me talking to anyone...
Anyone have any advice? I'm coming to the forums because I'm just stuck here with a laptop I can't use, and don't know what to do with...
    EDIT/update:
I managed to get this number finally (1-866-968-4465) and talked to someone who seemed to actually care. So I've gotten somewhere, I guess the forum post doesn't help much. I'll update the result anyway...

    Mine is the siig NN-EC2812-S1 2-port FireWire 800 ExpressCard/54 and the carbus card is a StarTech.com CB1394B3
Where do you read about chipset compatability probs with siig cards? What would be a better card?
    Edit:
I could get one of these within a day or so:
    belkin F5U514 $98 CAN
    startech EC1394B2 $119 CAN
    sonnet FW800-E34 $98 CAN
Know which would be better to try?

  • Has anyone sent their iPhone to be repaired only to get it back with the same problems it had before it was sent off?

    Hi all.
I reported two problems to Apple about my iPhone 4S. The first being that the 3G stopped working (my phone has never been dropped, damaged or gotten wet) and the second that it keeps making a random and incessant beeping sound that can only be described as a "warning tone" even though no notification pops up on the screen and after going through all of the preset tones on the phone, I couldn't find one that matches.
I know that it's not my service provider's fault in regards to the 3G as I've put my SIM card in a friend's iPhone who is on the same network and the 3G worked perfectly fine.
This isn't my gripe, my gripe is that after having explained this to Apple and sending them my phone (I still have about 40 days of my one year warranty), I received it back a few days later with the exact same problems!!!
Has anyone else sent their iDevice off to get "fixed" only to find out that all they did was repackage your item and send it back to you?

See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. Select restore from backup, follow by syncing your itunes content.

  • Problem with microphone, Audigy 2, and a Dell (not the same problem as the 8 million other topi

Hello,?I recently reformatted my hard dri've and had to reinstall drivers for nearly everything, etc. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, and an Audigy 2 sound card. My microphone worked fine before the reformat and then it was broken. Its not that it wasn't picking up my voice (I have read that the typical problem with Dell computers and microphones was that you had to almost scream into the microphone to get it to hear anything). When I tried to record something, it would record what was coming out of my speakers, and not what I was saying (no matter how hard I yelled). So, when I was playing Counterstrike, everybody heard my gun shooting and grenades exploding etc. instead of my voice (which was what was coming out of my headphones). So I downloaded the ISO available here and through some complicated, random process of uninstalling and reinstalling the various sound drivers I found on the internet, I managed to get my microphone to work perfectly. I changed some settings before I went to bed on Sunday night, and when I tried to use my microphone on Monday it didn't work again (and I had the same problem as before).
So I reformatted again and am trying to figure out what order I installed and uninstalled etc.
So my question is, has anyone else has this specific problem (when attempting to record it records what comes out of the speakers/headphones and not what is being said into the microphone) and remembers how to fix it's? What I did was really bizarre, something like downloading Dell drivers, installing them, uninstalling them, downloading Creative drivers, installing them, installing Dell drivers on top of them, uninstalling both, downloading the ISO, reinstall the Creative drivers, install the files from the ISO, or something like that. Obviously that includes a lot more steps than are needed and because part 3 of the ISO is currently down (I don't have a CD burner so had to redownload the whole thing (I just used a CD emulator last time)) I can't work on it right now :/

Actually, it's not a problem but a setting. On surround mixer .rec source setting --> when you set it to What U Hear everything you hear becomes recorded --> for microphone recording set it to microphone (also set "monitoring while recording" on/off).

Hi melbernai - not sure if you've solved this problem yet. I had the exact same problem recently with my 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I solved it yesterday by simply updating iTunes to the most recent version, after which I could get rid of the register screen. The only other thing I needed to do to add my custom playlists was select "Manually manage music" on the screen for my iPod, since it had been in an automatic synching mode since the problem occurred.

  • When I use my bullzip printer with Foxfire 7.0.1 I get the following message: script engine not initialized to valid language. This is a problem only with Foxfire7.0.1. When I use IE 9.0 it works fine and I have no script initialization problem.

I have been using bullzip printer for years with Foxfire. I am now using a version 7_1_1_0_1218 of bullzip printer I downloaded in March 2011. I am using Windows Vista Service pak 2 with all latest updates.

ah..interesting. I found an alternate solution that works for
    us at least
Our authentication is called from a file called
    bluestemcookie.cfm with this format
    <cflocation
    url="https://#CGI.HTTP_HOST#/bluestem/lb_login.pl#AGREEMENT_PATH##CGI.SCRIPT_NAME#"
    addtoken="No">
I was having the exact same problem, but notiece that if I
changed lb_login.pl to lb_login.pl? it now understood that
everything after was parameters and off it went to authenticate. Of
course then upon return I had a /? in my url and it burped again.
In looking at the construction of the URL to return in lb_login.pl
    #---Construct Return URL------------------------------------
    $ReturnURL = "https://$bluestem'R_ServerNamePort";
    $ReturnURL .= $bluestem'R_PathInfo;
    $ReturnURL .= "?$ENV{'QUERY_STRING'}" if
    $ENV{'QUERY_STRING'};
I noticed the ? in the beginning fo the third string
concatenation. hmm.... removed that ? and now all our
authentication with IIS6 CFMX7.1 Win2K3 work fine. Just food for
thought as your solution appears to be better.
