I don't have iBooks in OS X Mavericks

I can't find iBooks in my Mac
The rest of Mavericks works well, but I can't open iBooks
If I try to open one of them, I get a message saying there's not an app that can open it
If I go to the App Store and search for iBooks, I don't find it
I only find iBooks Author. I downloaded it, but I can't read the books yet
What can I do? I can't install iBooks fom App Store, and I haven't found other readers

It took about an hour for me to complete the process. All of your data will be intact.

Was this book downloaded using iBooks, or from another application? If it was from iBooks you will need to install that application to delete it.

Once the book has been deleted from the iPhone you can uninstall the iBooks application if you so desire.

That wasn't something that I was aware of, but looking at this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 I'm not sure that there is much you can do about the device itself. I'm also not sure whether it only affects downloading directly on the device itself or whether you can connect the iPad to your computer and sync content across to it from your account that way - or even whether restoring back to factory defaults on the iPad will bypass the 90 days

I am having the same problem. I have a 2nd generation ipad wi-fi only. All was working great until I upgraded. NONE of my downloaded magazines or rss-feeds are accessible. For the magazines, their icons show up on the "shelves" but once you click on one it wont even take you to the "issues" i have downloaded. it jumps back to the shelf page.

LP content can only be downloaded on a computer's iTunes (or 1st gen Apple TV), you can't download them on an iOS device - and I haven't seen anything that say it will change in iOS 8. If you don't have a computer then at the moment you won't be able to download/view LP content

iTunes is not installing because its incompatible with your OS. When installing the correct version the new version will update the older version, there is no need to uninstall first.
The last version of iTunes compatible with OSX 10.4 is iTunes 9.2.1

Do you get the option to open it in another app, meaning does the open in window appear at all and show other app choices? Can you use Quick Look to open the pdf ? If you can open the pdf in Quick Look, can you tap the action icon in the upper right comer and find iBooks in there? Did you try using the More option to see if iBooks is in there? Hiwever, if you have iBooks, it should be one of the very first choices in the Open In window.
IF none of those things works for you, close the mail app completely and reset your iPad. You will not lose any data.
In order to close the mail app, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

It's easy to miss. Look for the red warning triangle in the corner of the page in the View All Pages view.

Based on your post it sounds like you would like to sync your iBooks content with your computer. I have located an article that may help you in this situation. While you can sync this data with your computer you can also use the sharing button to send PDFs using various sources:

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

Of the apps you've mentioned, here are their sizes my iPhone 5 under iOS 8.1.2 as reported under Settings/General/Usage/Manage Storage:
Podcasts: 8.4 MB
iBooks: 1.1 MB
Health: 148 KB
I'm curious where you got the values of "approx 350 Mb each"? These apps are now embedded into iOS and AFAIK, their app sizes are not reported as user-downloaded apps are.
